  • Sheet piles are often used to build continuous walls for the waterfront structures, and also used for some temporary structures, such as the braced cuts. Sheet pile walls may be divided into two basic categories that is cantilever and anchored. Stock(1992) developed an expedient format for determining the depth, maximum bending moment and anchor force of sheet pile wall for cantilever and free earth supported anchored wall. But, that is useful only in case that water table exists above the dredge line. In this study, a simplified formulae was developed for the design of the anchored free earth supported sheet pile wall both in sand and clay by solving the derived equations and regression analysis. It can be used whether the ground water table is above or under the dredge line.

  • The ecological studies of the benthic polychaetes were carried out in the follow Sea for the period of August 1982 through February 1986. Special emphasis were placed on quantitative species composition and the importance of polychaetes in the benthic community. Polychaete group ranked numerically high, composing $35.1\~46.4\%$ of the total benthos. In the biomass, echinoderms or mollusks showed as a dominant group, but the range of its seasonal variation was very large. Due to the use of sampling gear, the relative importance of polychaetes was somewhat different. The case of a dredge showed a little lower composition rate of polychaetes than a grab one. This result was caused by high density of benthic animals because the dredge would tow only much more surface sediments than the grab sampler. The present studies included a total of 141 species and the representative polychaetes in this area were Spiophanes bormbyx, Ampharete arctica, Geniada maulata, Nephtys caeca, Nothria iridescens.

  • The major design parameters of the anchored sheet-pile wall include the determination of required penetration depth, the force acting on the anchor, and the maximum bending moment in the piling. Blum solved the fixed earth supported wall using the equivalent beam method, assuming that the wall can be separated into upper and lower parts of the point of contraflexure. Design charts help designer by simplifying the design procedure. But they have some difficulties under some Geotechnical and geometrical conditions. For example, the conventional design charts can compute design parameters only when the ground water table exists above the dredge line. In this paper, the design charts which can be used for the ground water table existing under the dredge line are presented. And simplified formulae are developed by regression analysis. It is found that simplified formulae are not only very useful for the practice of design but also they can evaluate the result of numerical methods or design charts.

  • The canals of China·Northern Europe are different from those of Korea in the phases of the times and physical environment as follows. As the coefficient of river regime is high and the slopes of river is high in our country, the sediments are much deposited on the floor and river channels are meandered and the depth of water are low. So we should dredge the river floor and should construct the dams and lock gates. These will cause streams to be late and to be flooded. The rising and falling of groundwater tables may be fatal to the buildings. The ecosystem will be ruined by water pollution and rising of water levels. We are concerned about the economy of the canals, the low velocity of the canals, reduction of the transportation cost, transshipment cost and terminal cost, tourism·leisure-typed waterway and extreme cost of waterway development. It is proper for us to put in good order and control waterway simply by means of annual schedule, not to construct canal.

  • This study is about the assessment of utilization possibility as a material for cementation of ground which is necessary for the reinforcement of soft ground by making environment-friendly inorganic composite utilizing inorganic recycled resources, and it was verified that it showed higher uniaxial compressive strength than the existing cementitious ground solidifier when it was applied as a combination material for soft ground such as dredge reclaimed land, and since an inorganic composite utilizing recycled resources such as high calcium fly ash and blast furnace slag etc. does never use cement, it is considered that it would be safe in the issue of a hexavalent chromium that was recognized as a problem of a cementitious solidifier.

  • Aarabellid polychaete, Drilonereis filum(Claparede, 1868), was newly recorded in Korean fauna. The specimens were collected in the mud bottom by a dredge in the west coast of Korea. The species was described with figures, and the key to genera was revised. Adding this Drilonereis filum, a total of 2 species representing 2 genera are known to Korean arabellid polychaetes.

  • The space and ground based infrared spectra of red supergiants are modeled and arranged in order of their evolutionary status with their theoretical model Parameters. Because of their large amplitude pulsation, the observational data taken at different phases show wide discrepancies. The chemical compositions of the dust shells around red supergiants are affected by the nuclearreactions and dredge-up processes of the cental stars. Those processes aresensitiTelr dependent on the initial ma:ss, the initial chemical coMposition, and the evolutionarr status. Miras, infrared carbon stars, and OHAR starshaTe a close link in their evolution iii many aspects, i.e. the chemicalcomposition, the optical depths and the mass loss rates. The evolutionarytracks for the three classes of red super91iants on infrared Huo-color diagamhave been constructed.

  • This paper reviews depositional environments and consolidation characteristic of Soft Dredged Clay fill and then analytical solution of self-weight consolidation is made to find consolidated state. It's known that Soft Dredged Clay Ground is in the under-consolidated state under $U{\fallingdotseq}30%$ from analytical solution. It is effective for higher consolidation rate that the time of Dredge is shorter ani the time of leave is longer. It is conclude that the under-consolidated state should be considered in prediction of consolidation settlement.

  • The purpose of this research is to develop the method for the beneficial use of dredged material. In this research, authors investigate the material properties of dredged material contained with dredge material of various contents. The compressive strength of cement mortar with 10% dredged material from the Busan harbor is slightly higher than it of conventional mortar, but, it is to need to further research for developing the application technique on the dredged material as the substitutional material of a sand.
