To examine the general features of a sand-clay composite triaxial test by making specimen varying ratios of diameters (dw) of sand columns that are installed on the soft ground as drains to diameters (de) of drain zone so called drainage space ratio (n=de/dw), densities of the granular columns, and strength of soft soils round around. I also conducted a test to research the reinforcement ability and effects of the ground when the granular columns are wrapped with supplementary materials such as geotextile. The results of the triaxial compression test showed that the shear strength increase is much big when the granular columns are wrapped with supplementary materials, while the shear strength increases as the diameter and density of the granular column increase in general. Also the drainage space ratio shows a distinct increase just below 3 and a similar shear behavior to sand is appeared. The pore water pressure coefficient decreases as the drainage space ratio decreases, however, when the drainage space ratio is less than 3~4, it declines significantly as shown in the results of shear behavior.

In this study, model test equipment was developed to evaluate the hydraulic pressure reduction in appling the drainage shield tunnel and the model test for hydraulic pressure difference was performed in case of drainage and undrained conditions. In the result of model test, increase ratio of pore water pressure was decreased in drainage condition and total stress in drainage condition was smaller than that in undrained condition, so the hydraulic pressure was reduced by the groundwater inflow into the model tunnel. In the result of field instrumentation, the hydraulic pressure in the back ground of shield tunnel was small by 11~22% in comparison with the calculated hydraulic pressure ($r_w{\cdot}H$) in same groundwater level. In the result of model test and field instrumentation, it was appeared in drainage and undrained conditions that the difference between the theoretical hydraulic pressure and the real hydraulic pressure. It shows that it is possible to apply the reduced hydraulic pressure in applying the drainage shield tunnel and to reduce the segment section due to hydraulic pressure reduction.
The influences of the space allocation of design rainfall and partition of the subbasin on the characteristics of urban storm runoff was investigated for the 6 drainage basins by applying SWMM model. It show the deviation of -54.68∼18.77% in the peak discharge when we applied the composed JUFF quantiles to the two zones which are divided by upper and lower region of the basin. Then it is compared with the value for the case of using uniform rainfall distribution all over the drainage. Therefore, it would be helpful to decrease the flood risk when we adopt the space distribution of the design rainfall. The effects of the partitioning the drainage on the computing result shows various responses because of the surface characteristics of the each basin such as slope, imperviousness ratio, buy we can get closer result to the measured value as we make the subbasin detailed. If we use the concept of the skewness and area ratio when we determine the width of subbasin, we can improve the computed result even with fewer number of subbasins. We expect reasonable results which close into the measured results in the range of relative error, 25%, when we divide the basin into more than 3 subbasins and the total urban drainage area is less than 10$\textrm{km}^2$.

Objective: To assess the safety and efficacy of lymphopseudoaneurysm (LPA) glue (n-butyl cyanoacrylate [NBCA]) embolization in the management of chylous ascites after retroperitoneal surgery. Materials and Methods: A retrospective analysis from January 2014 to October 2018 was performed in six patients (4 females and 2 males; mean age, 45.3 ± 14.2 years; range, 26-61 years) who underwent LPA embolization for chylous ascites developing after retroperitoneal surgery involving the perirenal space (four donor nephrectomies, one partial nephrectomy, and one retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy). After placing a percutaneous drainage catheter into the LPA or adjacent lymphocele, embolization was performed by filling the LPA itself with a mixture of glue and Lipiodol (Guerbet). Results: Daily drainage from percutaneously placed drains exceeded 300 mL/day despite medical and surgical treatment (volume: mean, 1173 ± 1098 mL; range, 305-2800 mL). Intranodal lymphangiography was performed in four of the six patients and revealed leakage in 2 patients. Percutaneous embolization of the LPA was successful in all patients using an NBCA and Lipiodol mixture in a ratio of 1:1-1:2 (volume: mean, 4.3 ± 1.1 mL; range, 3-6 mL). Chylous ascites was resolved and the drainage catheter was removed in all patients within 4 days after the procedure (mean, 2.0 ± 1.8 days; range, 0-4 days). No procedure-related complications or recurrence of chylous ascites occurred during a mean follow-up period of 37.3 months (range, 21.1-48.4 months). Conclusion: Glue embolization of LPA has the potential to be a feasible and effective treatment method for the management of chylous ascites after retroperitoneal surgery.
To design the drainage system of a mine, it is very important to evaluate the groundwater inflow to the mine workings. In this study, continuous steady state flow through rock mass around mine openings developed in Sungok area of Gagok Mine was analyzed. Saturated only model and Saturated/unsaturated model were used as material models of rock mass. Groundwater quantities flowing into Sungok 160 level which is 1216 m long are computed as 1450 $m^3$/day in case of a saturated model and as 1071 $m^3$/day in case of a saturated/unsaturated model. An effect that hydraulic conductivity has on inflow turned out be greater than precipitation and inflow increased linearly with increase of hydraulic conductivity. It was found that change of hydraulic conductivity ratio and orientation have an impact on the variation of inflow and water table.
This is a retrospective study on the patients with infection of the oral and maxillofacial region with the purpose of obtaining some useful data for diagnosis and treatment plan of that relatively common disease in dentistry. The used materials of study were 87 in total, including 52 male patients, 35 female patients who diagnosed and treated at the Department of the Dentistry in Hanyang Medical College Hospital for the period of Jan. 1990 to Dec. 1994. The author analyzed the distribution and incidence of sex, age, admission period, etiologic factors, etiologic teeth, treatment method of infections, pus culture, antibiotics sensibilities and medication. The result obtained as follows : 1. The developmental incidences by sex was superior in male by the ratio of 1.5 : 1 and the infection was most frequently occurred during the third decades(35.6%). 2. The number of admitted patients elevated in February, March, and April, and average of admission period was 9.8 days. 3. Main etiologic teeth showed on lower molar region in adult(63%) and upper molar region in primary dentition(46.1%). 4. Medications were administrated in all of the cases, and surgical incision and drainage were performed in 53% and extraction of the causative teeth were performed in 63.6% of all cases. 5. The most common involved fascial spaces were Buccal space(41.4%), Infraorbital space(27.6%), Submandibular space(16.1%),in order, and 9 cases(10.3%) were Ludwig's Angina. In 68.2% of the patients, and infection involved only one fascial space and in 21.8% of the patients, it involved to more fascial spaces. 6. The most causative organisms isolated from pus culture were Gram-positive facultative cocci(55.5%), and antibiotics sensitivities on the total isolated bacterial strains were exposed chloramphenicol(88.6%), Cephalothin(88.6%), Erythromycin(81.5%), Lincomycin(77.8%) in order, but it showed resistant on Gentamycin(58.3%), Tetracycline(56.5%), Methicillin(38.5%).

Total length of stream networks and main stream length vary with topographic map scales, and the stream length of drainage basin on topographic map can be viewed as a fractal. Total length of stream network and main stream length are represented as only stream area ratio($R_a$) based on Horton's laws, thereafter the fractal dimensions of stream network and main stream length are derived as a simple function of stream length($R_L$) and stream area ratios($R_a$) respectively. The derived equations of fractal dimension are applied to Sansung basin in Kum River and compared with the equations already existed. The stream network appeared as space filling with fractal dimension near 2 as map scale increases, while main stream length shows near 1. The results of this study are expected to be helpful in the quantitative analysis of drainage network composition with map scale.
1. Introduction Community medicine with the concept of comprehensive medical care and an ideal medical care delivery system not only for an individual or family but for the whole community has emerged. In April 1970, the Presbyterian Medical Center started a hospital based community health service project in order to improve the health of the people in rural areas. Prior to commencing a comprehensive medical care system, a family survey was needed. The major objective of this survey was to obtain information concerning the people and their environment so as to be able to plan and implement a comprehensive medical care program in Soyang-Myun. 2. Survey Method An interview using a family record form was carried out for each household. This family record form was designed to get information about demography, family planning, environmental sanitation and vital statistics. Prior to beginning, the members of the survey team were trained in interviewing techniques for three days. The team consisted of a public health nurse, four nurse-aides, a sanitarian and four health extension workers who are working in our project, The survey was carried out during the period November 1971 to March 1972. 3. Purpose : The purpose of this study was to review our recent experiences with deep neck abscesses in children and adolescents and to provide helpful information in treatment and diagnosis by comparing them with those in other available literatures. Methods : Medical records of 36 children and adolescents admitted for deep neck abscess at two hospitals from January 2000 to October 2010 were reviewed retrospectively. Results : Male to female ratio was 1.4 : 1 and the mean age was 6.5 years. Painful neck swelling and fever were the most frequent symptoms in patients under thirteen years of age whereas trismus and headache were frequent symptoms in patients over fourteen years of age. Submandibular space was the most common site of deep neck abscess in patients under thirteen years of age, whereas peritonsillar space was the most common site in patients over fourteen years of age. The results of bacterial cultures were positive in 61.5% of drained cases. Staphylococcus aureus was the most commonly identified bacteria in 6 patients (37.5%) and 5 of them were under 2 years of age. Twenty six patients received surgical drainage while the others were treated with antibiotics only. There were no statistically significant differences in the durations of admission, fever after admission, and antibiotic treatment between surgical and medical treatment groups. Conclusion : The common sites of deep neck abscess, associated symptoms, and causative organisms were different between children and adolescents. As there were no differences in durations of admission, fever, or antibiotics treatments between surgical and medical treatment groups, surgical drainage may be avoided by early recognition and suspicion. However, if there is no improvement of symptoms or size of abscesses within 48-72 hours of antibiotic treatment, surgical drainage should be considered.
Web openings of large beams provide space for wiring, piping, and duct work to provide for proper drainage, pipes and duct must be slightly sloped with the attendant result that all web openings can not be centered on the centroidal axes of the beams. Test specimens are made for opening-depth to beam-depth ratio of 0.5 and for eccentricities of the opening center line of 10% from middepth of the beam because of the proximity of the opening edge to the flange. In this paper, available test results and theories relating to the strength of composite beams having eccentric rectangular openings are surveyed and experiments were carried out to examine the structural behaviors. In all the tests in this paper good agreement is demonstrated with maximum loads measured in tests, and observed failure modes Furthermore, compared with analytical values and experimental values of interaction diagram between moment and shear capacity were safed as it is scattered with outer part of the analytical values.
