Bearing Capacity of SDA Augered Piles in Various Grounds Depending on Water-Cement Ratio of Cement Milk (시멘트밀크 배합비에 따른 다양한 지반 내 SDA매입말뚝의 연직지지력)

  • The standard construction manual of the SDA (Separated Doughnut Auger) piling method was proposed so that the resisting capacity of the augered piles could work effectively. 438 dynamic pile load tests were performed on 379 test piles, which were installed at 36 sites in Korea by the SDA piling method with application of various water-cement ratio of cement milks. The dynamic pile load test results showed that the bearing capacity of the SDA augered piles depended on the water-cement ratio of cement milks. And couple of the formulas were presented according to water-cement ratio and various grounds to estimate quantitatively both the unit end bearing and the unit frictional capacity of the SDA augered piles. It was also considered that the water-cement ratio of cement milks exerts an influence on the bearing capacity of the SDA augered piles. The presented formulas were compared with the existing formulas, which were presented by several standard design codes to design the augered piles.

On the Sealing Force of Perfluoroelastomer O-rings Including Temperature Effects (온도를 고려한 FFKM O-링의 밀봉력에 관한 연구)

  • O-ring seal is widely used for sealing pressure vessels and oil containers in various applications of mechanical equipments. The doughnut shape of the O-ring is very important components in most of the system assembly of mechanical apparatus. This paper presents the sealing force of a pressurized perfluoroelastomer O-ring, which is very important contact seal in sealing the semiconductor equipment. The sealing pressure is measured by experimental method and analyzed numerically by using the non-linear MARC finite element program. The seal tester is made to measure the contact force and displacement of the O-ring with an automatic control system of the working temperature. The results show the reasonable agreements between the computed FEM results and measured ones when the operating temperature is moderate temperature. But the compared values between the computed and tested results show a difference because of the increased temperature, which is related to the non-linear parameter of the O-ring material.

Effect of flour and frying temperature on quality of Gaeseong-Juak(doughnut of waxy rice) (밀가루와 튀김온도가 개성주악의 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to standardize the recipe of Gaeseong-Juak. The formation and quality of the Juak were investigated under different treatment conditions. 1. The high ratio of medium flour(20%) in the flour mixture resulted in poor swelling. 2. The flour mixture with 10% strong flour showed higher volume of Gaeseong-Juak compared with the 10% mixture of medium flour, but the score of sensory evaluation was low. 3. The addition of Makkoli in the dough did not give significant difference in the formation of Juak, but the sensory score was low. 4. The deep-frying temperature in the range of 150$\^{C}$ to 170$\^{C}$ allowed the greatest swelling of Gaeseong-Juak, but the highest quality score was obtained at 160$\^{C}$ treatment. Overall, the best preparation condition of Gaeseong-Juak was that the mixture of waxy rice flour with 10% medium flour was kneaded with Makkoli and fried at 160$\^{C}$.

  • The Ν-value in the standard penetration test(SPT) is affected by the magnitude of the rod penetration energy transmitted from the falling hammer as well as the geotechnical characteristics of the ground. Understanding of the striking energy efficiency in the SPT equipment is getting important for that reason. The energy efficiencies of the doughnut hammer with the hydraulic lift system and the automatic trip hammer system were investigated through field tests using the instrumented rod and wave-signal acquisition systems including the pile driving analyzer(PDA) . The rod energy ratio, ΕR$\_$r/ was defined as the ratio of the energy delivered to the drilling rod to the potential free-fall energy of the hammer. It appears that the type of the hammer and lift/drop system had a strong influence on the energy transfer mechanism and ΕR$\_$r/ also varies according to the energy instrumentation system and the analysis methods.

  • In this paper, a CFD (Computational fluid dynamics) code, FLUENT is adopted to investigate accurate flow characteristics for a slipper bearing which is used swash plate type hydraulic axial piston pump. Static pressure and velocity distributions, and velocity vectors are plotted for different film thickness and slipper rotational velocity. In recess region, there exists a doughnut shaped vortex ring. The static pressure distributions are non-uniform and the flow fields are highly asymmetrical under bearing rotation. Therefore the numerical method adopted in this paper can be use in design of hydrostatic components and further studies are required.

  • 이 논문은 환(環)을 형성하는 부분네트웍들로 이루어진 sparse network의 특수한 형태에서 최단거리 결정을 위한 효율적인 앨고리즘을 제안한다. 제시된 앨고리즘은 소위 비환(非換) 형태의 sparse network에 대한 최단거리 결정 앨고리즘의 확장이라 할 수 있다. 도우넛 형태를 갖는 sparse network에 대해 최단거리 결정을 위한 접근법으로 하나는 정점제거 방법이고, 다른 하나는 선분제거 방법이다. 여기서 제안된 앨고리즘은 일반적인 n-degree circular sparse network으로 확대될 수 있다.

  • The authers observed a multiple miliary osteoma which was found in the 70-year-old male patient at routine dental examination and obtained the following features; 1. The osteomas are situated in the buccal cheeks of both side, but overlying skin shows normal. 2. The small osteomas range from 2.0㎜ to 2.0㎜ in diameter. 3. The osteomas appeared in proximity to the surface at a special radiograph which made with the tube directed parallel to the surface of the face when the cheek is being blown outwardly. 4. Each osteoma appears as a small doughnut shaped shadow with a radiolucent center.

  • 본 연구는 대표적인 혐오시설로 지역주민들에 의하여 기피되고 있는 방사성폐기물처분시설에 대한 주민들의 '수용의지'를 시스템 역학 모델을 통하여 분석하고, 개별요인들의 상대적 영향력의 크기를 규명하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 지역주민들의 정책수용거부에 대한 단선적이고 편협한 이해가 오히려 합리적인 시설입지전략의 구성을 어렵게 만들 수 있다는 인식 아래, 도넛효과(Doughnut-effect)가 발생하고 있는 울진원전 주변지역에 대한 실증분석을 통하여 지역사회의 정책결정과정 참여가 가장 중요한 문제해결요인임을 밝혔으며, 향후 사업추진측의 입지노력이 집중되어야 할 전략적 정책수행요인들을 제시하였다.

Optic nerve sheath meningioma mimicking optic perineuritis

  • Tram-track and doughnut-shaped enhancements of the optic nerve sheath in axial and coronal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) views, respectively, play crucial roles in the diagnosis of optic nerve sheath meningioma (ONSM). However, this finding is not specific to ONSM since it can also be observed in optic perineuritis (OPN). Here we report a 42-year-old female with ONSM who presented with clinical and MRI findings similar to those of OPN.

Treatment of descemetocele with deep keratotomy combined with a nictitating membrane flap in a dog

  • A 10-year-old, spayed female, Maltese dog presented with a 2-day history of severe left eye squint. Slit-lamp biomicroscopy showed a deep corneal defect stained into a doughnut shape together with hypopyon in the anterior chamber. Based on these results, a diagnosis of descemetocele and uveitis in the left eye was made. Deep keratotomy combined with a nictitating membrane flap effectively resolved the descemetocele without complications. The surgical procedures performed on this patient were easy and effective, and could be used as an alternative to graft surgery for descemetocele treatment.
