Effect of furosemide administration on glucose tolerance, insulin-and HGH response following parenteral glucose loading was studied in healthy subjects. Effects of potassium or calcium on the furosemide induced changes were also observed in the same subjects. Furosemide administration resulted in a considerable reduction in the magnitude and duration of insulin response although no obvious changes were observed in glucose disappearance from the circulation. Oral potassium or calcium supplement to the furosemide treated subjects showed a reversion toward normal of the insulin response. The author suggested that a decreased endogenous insulin production resulting from the potassium and/or calcium depletion is responsible for the changes observed. In those subjects who receive parenteral nutrition if administration of furosemide is essential, it should be supplemented by potassium and/or calcium.

The water celery, Oenanthe javanica DC., is widely distributed in Korea and the other South East Asian countries. From ancient times, the water celery has widely been used for food or medicine. In herbal medicine, the water celery has a medical actions which are defervescence, diuresis, hypotensor, appetizer. Recently, studies on the water celery are briskly being conducted. For example, studies on the morphologic property and classifications of origin of the water celery, studies on the chemical constituents of the Water celery, studies on the bio activities of the water celery which contains flavonoids. However, there is not studies of hematological changes in dogs administrated the water celery until now. Consicontly, this study was conducted to observe the hematological changes in dogs administrated excessive amount of the water celery concentrated extract for a long period. In this studies, all dogs showed significantly decrease of the RBC, PCV, Hb and MCHC, and increase of the WBC, MCV, GSH and reticulocytes, but did not significantly change in the Met-Hb.

"Stacker 3" is one of the most popular caffeine-containing weight-reduction supplements and it has ephedra-free properties as "Stacker 2 Ephedra-Free" in many countries, including Korea. We describe here a 26-year-old woman who took an acute intentional overdose of "Stacker 3"(approximately 50 capsules, total amount: 25 grams, as caffeine 250 mg/kg) and who had delirium, rhabdomyolysis and acute renal failure. She had to be treated by forced diuresis and urine alkalinization, and she subsequently recovered. This is the first such case report in the medical literature.

Lee je-ma emphasis human constitution and write DongYeuSuSebowon(東醫壽世保元). He describe Sasang constitution diseases with Treatise on Febrile Diseases(傷寒論). Exogenous febrile disease(傷寒) is a pyrexia disease. Therefor this paper is focus on the pyrexia at Soyinin(少陰人) among DongYeuSuSebowon. Soyinin(少陰人) is consider that body water loss is more important than fever in pyrexia disease. And body water loss is happens easily at exothermic reaction (sweating, diarrhea) and sequela of Purgative Prescription(瀉下法), Inducing Diaphoresis(發汗法), Diuresis(利小便法).

The action of serotonin (5-Hydroxytryptamine) on the excretory function of the kidney was investigated in the dog, utilizing the clearance method and the stop-flow technique. It was shown that serotonin, $10{\mu}g/kg/min$, i. v., exerts a marked antidiuretic effects and elicits a marked hemodynamic changes in the kidney: a highly significant decrease of the glomerular filtration rate and a tendency of decrement in the renal plasma flow. Little change in the systemic blood pressure was noted, and the participation of the antidiuretic hormone in the antidiuretic action was ruled out by adding vasopressin to the infusion fluid. The stop-flow analysis showed that there is no evidence of altered activity in the tubules by serotonin. It was thus concluded that serotonin elicits anti diuresis in the dog by decreasing glomerular filtration rate, which results from the constriction of Vas afferens in the glomeruli.

In this study the influence of Bradykinin, a biogenic polypeptide, on the excretory function of the dog kidney was investigated, utilizing the clearance and stop-flow method. The results are summarized as follows; 1) Bradykinin administered intravenously elicited a marked antidiuresis. 2) When given into the renal artery, however, prompt increase of the urine flow, sodium excretion and free water clearance without significant change in the glomerular filtration rate ensued. 3) It was also effective during an osmotic diuresis with 10% Mannitol infusion, though the response was not so marked. 4) The stop-flow experiment showed that sodium reabsorption in the proximal tubules is inhibited by the infusion of bradykinin into the renal artery. It was thus concluded that the diuretic effect of bradykinin given intra-arterially results from the inhibition of sodium transport in the proximal tubules.

One sesquiterpenoid was isolated from the methanol extract of Atractylodes rhizomes which has been used as traditional medicine for diuresis and the compound was established as selina-4(14),7(11)-dien-8-one by the spectroscopic methods. The compound$(IC_{50}<10\;ppm)$ has inhibitory effects on melanogenesis in B16 mouse melanoma.

These studies were conducted an attempt to investigate effects of 'Paeryungtang' and 'Kamipaeryungtang' water extracts on diuretic, antipyretic, antiinflammatory and analgesic actions. The results of these studies were summarized as follows; Increase in urinary volume, urinary $Na^+$ excretions were significantly recognized in normal rat. Increase in urinary volume, urinary $Na^+\;and\;Cl^-$ excretions were significantly shown in rat with 2mg/kg $HgCl_2$-induced acute renal failure. Antipyretic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of 'Paeryungtang' and 'Kamipaeryungtang' were recognized in mice, rats and rabbits.

The Korean Chinese Chives(Allium tuberosum Rottler) are a perennial herb and have been used from ancient as food and medical purpose in Korea. They are known to posses diuresis, sthemia activities and used for the treatment or anemia, haematemesis, and eczema. Recently the Korean Chinese Chives have been studied on the morphologic property, the classification of origin and chemical constituent. However there has not been studied on kg) (or 6 days and observed the hematological effects in dogs. The results are as follows, 1. The red blood cell count was significantly (P < 0.05) decreased on day 2. 2. The reduced glutathion(GSH) concentration was significantly (P< 0.05) increased on day 4 and Met-hemoglobin concentration was significantly (P< 0.05) increased on 3 hrs after administration. 3. Packed cell volume(PCV) and hemoglobin concentration were not showed significant difference during experimental periods. 4. The mean corpuscular volume(MCV) was significantly(P < 0.05) increased on 3 hours after administration.

The Literatural Study on the classification of cause and the effect of Acupuncture and Moxibustion treatment for Youk Jeol Poung was studied from the viewpoint of therapeutic acupuncture and moxibustion effect. And the results were as follows: 1. Youk Jeol Poung is similar to Tong Bi, Ju Bi, Haeng Bi, Tong Poung. 2. The symptoms of Youk Jeol Poung are pain and weakness, difficulty of flexion, swelling and pain, severe pain etc., at night pain is more severe. 3. The cause, mechanism of Youk Jeol Poung is as follow, due to penetration of the wind, cold, moisture, uder situation of whole body is pain. 4. The main treatment is invigorate vital energy and blood, expel wind - evil, promote diuresis, eliminating phlegm, promote blood circulation, cold, heat - clearing. 5. The basal meridian of acupuncture and moxibustion treatment were the channels of Su Jok Sam Yang.
