  • In this paper, we develop the noninformative priors for stress-strength reliability from the Pareto distributions. We develop the matching priors and the reference priors. It turns out that the second order matching prior does not match the alternative coverage probabilities, and is not a highest posterior density matching or a cumelative distribution function matching priors. Also we reveal that the one-at-a-time reference prior and Jeffreys' prior are the second order matching prior. We show that the proposed reference prior matches the target coverage probabilities in a frequentist sense through simulation study, and an example is given.

  • In this paper, we develop the noninformative priors for the ratio of the scale parameters in the inverted exponential distributions. The first and second order matching priors, the reference prior and Jeffreys prior are developed. It turns out that the second order matching prior matches the alternative coverage probabilities, is a cumulative distribution function matching prior and is a highest posterior density matching prior. In addition, the reference prior and Jeffreys' prior are the second order matching prior. We show that the proposed reference prior matches the target coverage probabilities in a frequentist sense through a simulation study as well as provide an example based on real data is given.

  • Image matching is fundamental process in photogrammetry and computer vision to identify and to measure corresponding features on the multiple images. Uniqueness of the matching entities and robustness of the algorithm are the key issues that have influence on quality of the matching result. The optimal solution could be obtained by utilizing appropriate matching entities in the first place. In this study, candidate matching points were extracted by interest operator, and an area-based matching method was applied with characteristics of the gray value distribution as the matching entities. The characteristic information is based on the concept of "intrinsic image" (or parameter image). The information was utilized as additional and/or complementary matching entities. Matching on interest points with the characteristic information resulted in high quality of matching because matching windows were created with surrounding pixels of the interest points that contain distinct and unique features. The experiment shows that matching quality and reliability increase by exploiting interest operator, and the characteristic information has potential to be matching entity.

  • In a indoor microwave power distribution system, matching-type power dividing switch is proposed and designed with a various power dividing ratio. A matching coaxial cable probe is used behind the output probe for the reflecting power absorption. Reflecting characteristics of the matching coaxial cable probe are calculated by analyzing the S-parameter of this structure. Newly proposed matching-type switch shows a very low return loss less than -30dB at the operating frequency of 2.45GHz with a dividing power ratio of 50.2%. The simulated results by use of 3-stage power divider shows a good agreement with the theoretical estimation for the various combination of the different switching ratio.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the sensitivity of matching elements for the dual-band operation of a power amplifier with composite right/left-handed (CRLH) transmission lines. Metamaterial theory enables CRLH transmission to support arbitrary impedance matching at dual frequencies. In general, at sub-GHz range, the CRLH matching networks are commonly implemented with lumped elements, which are prone to manufacturing distribution. In order to reduce the effect from the distribution of element values in design, we suggest a method to analyze the sensitivity of matching elements from the performance aspect of power amplifiers. Based on the analysis, a 40dBm dual-band power amplifier operating at 0.7GHz and 1.5GHz is designed.

  • In this paper, we develop the Jeffreys' prior, reference priors and the probability matching priors for the intraclass correlation coefficient of a symmetric normal distribution. We next verify propriety of posterior distributions under those noninformative priors. We examine whether reference priors satisfy the probability matching criterion.

  • This paper presents two adaptive fingerprint matching methods. First, we experiment an adaptive threshold selection of 1:N matching system in order to raise the reliability of the matching score. Second, we propose a adaptive threshold selection using fitting algorithm for high speed matching. The experiment was conducted on the NITZEN database, which has 5247 samples. Consequently, this paper shows that our suggested method can perform 1.88 times faster matching speed than the bidirectional matching speed. And, we prove that FRR of our suggested method decreases 1.43 % than that of the unidirectional matching.

  • This paper deals with noninformative priors for such as Jeffres' prior, reference prior and probability matching prior for scale parameter of exponential distribution when the data are collected in multiple step stress accelerated life tests. We find the noninformative priors for this model and show that the reference prior satisfies first order matching criterion. Using artificial data, we perform Bayesian analysis for proposed priors.

  • MPEG-7 Visual Standard specifies a set of descriptors that can be used to measure similarity in images or video. Among them, the Edge Histogram Descriptor describes edge distribution with a histogram based on local edge distribution in an image. Since the Edge Histogram Descriptor recommended for the MPEG-7 standard represents only local edge distribution in the image, the matching performance for image retrieval may not be satisfactory. This paper proposes the use of global and semi-local edge histograms generated directly from the local histogram bins to increase the matching performance. Then, the global, semi-global, and local histograms of images are combined to measure the image similarity and are compared with the MPEG-7 descriptor of the local-only histogram. Since we exploit the absolute location of the edge in the image as well as its global composition, the proposed matching method can retrieve semantically similar images. Experiments on MPEG-7 test images show that the proposed method yields better retrieval performance by an amount of 0.04 in ANMRR, which shows a significant difference in visual inspection.
