  • To manage a cluster of distributed server systems, a number of management aspects should be considered in terms of configuration management, fault management, performance management, and user management. System performance monitoring and reporting take an important role for performance and fault management. In this paper, we present distributed system architecture modeling of a performance monitoring and reporting tool. Modeling architecture of four subsystems are introduced: node agent, data collection, performance management & report, and DB schema. The performance-related information collected from distributed servers are categorized into performance counters, event data for system status changes, service quality, and system configuration data. In order to analyze those performance information, we use a number of ways to evaluate data corelation. By using some results from a real site of a company and from simulation of artificial workload, we show the example of performance collection and analysis. Since our report tool detects system fault or node component failure and analyzes performances through resource usage and service quality, we are able to provide information for server load balancing, in short term view, and the cause of system faults and decision for system scale-out and scale-up, in long term view.

  • The study of pedestrian behavior covers wide topics, including way finding, choice and decision make, as well as spatial cognition and environmental perception. To address the problem, simulation is now put forward as suitable technique and method for analyzing human spatial behavior. In the paper we present a development architecture for simulating tracking pedestrian in a distributed environment. We introduce and explore the potential of using mobile agent-enabled distributed implementation model as a tool for development and implementation of the simulation. Three kinds of mobile agents are designed for implementation of managing and querying data of pedestrian. Finally, simulation result of JR 10,000 passengers’ movement is developed and implemented as a case study.

  • An environmental factor is very important in a war game model supporting military training. Most war game models in Korean armed forces apply the same weather conditions to all operation areas. As a result, it fails to derive a high-fidelity simulation result. For this reason this study attempts to develop factor techniques for a high-fidelity war game that can apply distributed synthetic atmospheric environment modeling data to a military simulation. The major developed factor technology of this study applies regional distributed precipitation data to the 2D-GIS based Simplified Detection Probability Model(SDPM) that was developed for this study. By doing this, this study shows that diversely distributed local weather conditions can be applied to a military simulation depending on the model resolution from theater level to engineering level, on the use from training model to analytical model, and on the description level from corps level to battalion level.

  • To develop highly dependable CPS, M&S(modeling and simulation) is very important. It is not easy to model any CPS whole system in a single simulation tool because each simulation tool is optimized for modeling each different part of the CPS. The FMI is the standard for M&S between different simulation tools. The DDS is a communication middleware suitable for large-scale real-time data transmission. In this paper, we proposed FMI based CPS real-time distributed simulaton framework using DDS. To evaluate the performance of the proposed framework, we performed distributed simulation using IEEE HLA/RTI and OMG DDS middleware and measured and compared the execution time of the entire simulation. From the simulation results, we can confirm that the simulation execution time using DDS is at least 1.14 times faster compared to execution time using HLA/RTI.

  • The object-oriented(OO) distributed real- time(RT) programming movement started in 1990’s and is growing rapidly at this turn of the century Distributed real-time simulation is a field in its infancy but it is bounded to receive steadily growing recognition for its importance and wide applicability. The scheme is called the distributed time-triggered simulation scheme which is conceptually simple and easy to use but widely applicable. A new generation object oriented(00) RT programming scheme is called the time-triggered message triggered object(TMO) programming scheme and it is used to make specific illustrations of the issues. The TMO structuring scheme is a general-style components structuring scheme and supports design of all types of component including hard real time 1 objects and non real time objects within one general structure.

  • This paper presents the operation of Fuel Cell Distributed Generation(FCDG) systems in distribution systems. Hence, modeling, controller design, and simulation study of a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell(SOFC) distributed generation(DG) system are investigated. The physical model of the fuel cell stack and dynamic models of power conditioning units are described. Then, suitable control architecture based on fuzzy logic and the neural network for the overall system is presented in order to activate power control and power quality improvement. A MATLAB/Simulink simulation model is developed for the SOFC DG system by combining the individual component models and the controllers designed for the power conditioning units. Simulation results are given to show the overall system performance including active power control and voltage regulation capability of the distribution system.

  • Recently, as the development system has become larger, sequential simulation methods have become impossible to verify systems that take a long time or require real time results. Therefore, a study of a distributed simulation system that simulates several processes has been conducted. In order to simulate real-time systems, efficient data exchange between distributed systems is required. Data Distribution Service is a data-oriented communication middleware proposed by Object Management Group and provides efficient data exchange and various QoS. However, in a large-scale distributed simulation environment distributed over a wide area, there is a problem of Participant Discovery and QoS guarantee due to domain separation in data exchange. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a DDS/SDN architecture that can guaranteed QoS and effective Participant Discovery in an SDN-based network.

  • Usually, The data transmission processing efficiency of the distributed system running on high speed networks depends on the system architecture and the data transmission processing system. In order to secure the real-time rate and the system reliability, the real-time distributed simulation system on the distributed environment has tried to satisfy the performance required by the data transmission processing system. However, the client/server-based data transmission processing system in the real-time simulation system has been difficult to satisfy the system stability, extensibility and maintenability, especially when system changes. So, it is natural to study another improved data transmission processing system to solve the problems at the existing real-time simulation system. After analyzing the existing real-time simulation system, this paper will propose the improved real-time data transmission system by using Software Design Pattern, which enhances extensibility, interoperability, reusability and maintenability of the system.

  • The objective of this paper is to show how team study can be advanced with the aid of a current computer technology, that is distributed Artificial Intelligence(DAI). Studying distributed problem solving by using groups of artificial agents, DAI can provide important ideas and techniques for the study of team behaviors like team decision making. To demonstrate the usefulness of DAI models as team research tools, a DAI model called 'Team-Soar' was built and a simulation experiment done with the model was introduced, Here, Team-Soar models a naval command and control team consisting of four members whose mission was to identify the threat level of aircraft. The simulation experiment was performed to examine the relationships of team decision scheme and member incompetence with team performance. Generally, the results of the Team-Soar simulation met expectations and confirmed previous findings in the literature. For example, the results support the existence of main and interaction effects of team decision scheme and member competence on team performance. Certain results of the Team-Soar simulation provide new insights about team decision making, which can be tested against human subjects or empirical data.

  • In this paper, a real-coefficient approach to Adaptive Frequency Sampling (AFS) technique is developed for efficient equivalent circuit modeling of RF components. This proposed method is advantageous than the vector fitting technique and the conventional AFS method in terms of fewer samples leading to a lower order of a rational function on a given data and to a direct conversion to an equivalent circuit for PSPICE(Personal Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit Emphsis) simulation, respectively. To validate the proposed method, the distributed equivalent circuit of a presented multi-layered RF low-pass filter is obtained using the proposed real-coefficient AFS, and then comparisons with EM simulation and circuit simulation for the device under consideration are achieved.
