  • The design of distrbuted systems is difficult to achieve as the execution patterns of distrbuted systems are typically more complex than those of non- distributed systems. Thus, research toward the development of design methods for distributed systems is quitely needed. As object-oriented systems and distrbuted systems share similar properties, the combination of these two is somehow natural. In this work, a design of distributed systems is introduced. The goal of the method in this paper is to provide assistance to the process of specifying a formal object- oriented specification from graphical representation specification inputs such as data flow diagrams, state transition diagrams and Petri nets. It addresses the extraction of objects, operations and reationshipsfrom the problem domain with emphasis on the specification of the characteristics of distributed systems. This object identification method is supported by a knowledge base that provides for the automated analysis and reasoning about objects and their relationsships. The final object model is represented in a format which provides a formal mechanism for reprsenting the object information.

  • The Jini system provides an infrastructure to facilitate a programmer to develop distributed systems. As one of the Jini services, JavaSpare has been used as a repository which is accessible publicly in the Java distributed environment. Although JavaSpace could give a useful method for saving and sharing java object, it would not be applicable to develop a distributed system requiring access securities for the objects because JavaSpare does not support secure access control. In this paper, we present a secure JavaSpare service based on Jini2.0 named SeureJS, which strengthens the security weakness of JavaSpare. The system consists of ObjectStore to store Java objects, AccessManager to control access of ObjectStore and KeyManager to manage public keys.

  • A repository s a system for management not only simple information using database but also complex and various information resources. a standard for implementation of a repository is now IRDS, but is does not support distributed-object environment. Therefore, in this paper, we design and implement IRDS-based repository on distributed-object environment. For implementation, we use ISO IRDS as a repository supporting object-oriented concepts, and choice the CORBA to support the distributed-object technology. Implemented contents are metadata table and service interface based on core functionality to be proposes at IRDS, and window-based user interface to use them, Also, we apply it to the workflow management system and test its practical usefulness.

  • Along with the innovative enhancement of Internet technology and the emergency of distributed systems extended from client-server computing, it becomes indispensible and necessary to integrate and interconnect old legacy systems. Since building a distributed system requires consistency of integration, the proper reuse of incumbent systems is critical to successful integration of current systems to distributed ones. CORBA(Common Object Request Broker Architecture) and object wrapping technique can provide middleware solutions that extend the applications of a legacy system with little modification to the application level while keeping client consistency of standard interface. By using these techniques for system integration it is easier and faster to extend services on application development to distributed environments. We propose a model on object wrapping system that can manage, integrate, and separate the functions delivered from CORBA. We apply the object wrapping model specifically to integration of security system interfaces and also perform a test to verify the usability and the efficiency of our model.

  • Latest advances in hardware technology and state of the art of mobile robot and artificial intelligence research can be employed to develop autonomous and distributed monitoring systems. And mobile service robot requires the perception of its present position to coexist with humans and support humans effectively in populated environments. To realize these abilities, robot needs to keep track of relevant changes in the environment. This paper proposes a localization of mobile robot using the images by distributed intelligent networked devices (DINDs) in intelligent space (ISpace) is used in order to achieve these goals. This scheme combines data from the observed position using dead-reckoning sensors and the estimated position using images of moving object, such as those of a walking human, used to determine the moving location of a mobile robot. The moving object is assumed to be a point-object and projected onto an image plane to form a geometrical constraint equation that provides position data of the object based on the kinematics of the intelligent space. Using the a priori known path of a moving object and a perspective camera model, the geometric constraint equations that represent the relation between image frame coordinates of a moving object and the estimated position of the robot are derived. The proposed method utilizes the error between the observed and estimated image coordinates to localize the mobile robot, and the Kalman filtering scheme is used to estimate the location of moving robot. The proposed approach is applied for a mobile robot in ISpace to show the reduction of uncertainty in the determining of the location of the mobile robot. Its performance is verified by computer simulation and experiment.

  • Interest about social security has recently increased in favor of safety for infrastructure. In addition, advances in computer vision and pattern recognition research are leading to video-based surveillance systems with improved scene analysis capabilities. However, such video surveillance systems, which are controlled by human operators, cannot actively cope with dynamic and anomalous events, such as having an invader in the corporate, commercial, or public sectors. For this reason, intelligent surveillance systems are increasingly needed to provide active social security services. In this study, we propose a core technique for intelligent surveillance system that is based on swarm robot technology. We present techniques for invader enclosing using swarm robots based on multiple distributed object environment. The proposed methods are composed of three main stages: location estimation of the object, specified object tracking, and decision of the cooperative behavior of the swarm robots. By using particle filter, object tracking and location estimation procedures are performed and a specified enclosing point for the swarm robots is located on the interactive positions in their coordinate system. Furthermore, the cooperative behaviors of the swarm robots are determined via the result of path navigation based on the combination of potential field and wall-following methods. The results of each stage are combined into the swarm robot-based invader-enclosing technique on multiple distributed object environments. Finally, several simulation results are provided to further discuss and verify the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed techniques.

  • This study describes a spatial web object retrieval system using Spark, an in - memory based distributed processing system. Development of social networks has created massive amounts of spatial web objects, and retrieval and analysis of data is difficult by using exist spatial web object retrieval systems. Recently, development of distributed processing systems supports the ability to analyze and retrieve large amounts of data quickly. Therefore, a method is promoted to search a large-capacity spatial web object by using the distributed processing system. Data is processed in block units, and one of these blocks is converted to RDD and processed in Spark. Regarding the discussed method, we propose a system in which each RDD consists of spatial web object index for the included data, dividing the entire spatial region into non-overlapping spatial regions, and allocating one divided region to one RDD. We propose a system that can efficiently use the distributed processing system by dividing space and increasing efficiency of searching the divided space. Additionally by comparing QP-tree with R-tree, we confirm that the proposed system is better for searching the spatial web objects; QP-tree builds index with both spatial and words information while R-tree build index only with spatial information.

  • Web GIS (Geographic Information Systems) service systems provide the various GIS services of analyzing and displaying the spatial data with friendly user-interface. These services are expanding the business domain and many users want to access the distributed various spatial data. But, it is difficult to access diverse data sources because of different spatial data format and data access methods. In this paper, we design and implement web GIS services based on the inter-operability and GML (Geography Markup Language) of OGC(Open GIS Consortium) in web distributed environment. Inter-operability provides unique accessing method to distributed data sources based on OLE DB technology of Microsoft. In addition, GML support web GIS services based on XML. We design these GIS services as components using UML (Unified Modeling Language) of an object-oriented modeling language for specifying, visualizing, constructing, and documenting the artifacts of software system. In addition, they also were developed in object-oriented computing environment, and it provides the interoperability, language-independent, easy developing environment as well as re-usability.
