  • Using the welding current and voltage signal processing, we have studied the influence that the diameter of the welding wire to the welding quality detection. For the experiments, We have analyzed the signal with respect to large and small artificially a gap between base materials than the welding wire. In this experiment, the 1.2 mm diameter of the welding wire was used, and distance between the welding base materials was respectively 1.0 mm and 2.0 mm. In the welding with a large defect than the diameter of the welding wire it was able to detect a change in the welding current and welding voltage. But it could not detect a change in the welding current and welding voltage in the welding has a small defect than the welding wire diameter.

The factors to determine the Station Headway have a fixing Price of the machine and the Dwell time. Other factors aye decided already or fixing price but the Dwell time that change according to demand cause the biggest effect at Station Headway. After analyze constituents that influence to Station Headway in this study calculated correct Station Capacity drawing estimating dwell time model that change according to demand.

  • In this study, the performance of a digital pile rebounding and penetration monitoring system (DPRMS) is evaluated and the measurement precision of the DPRMS is improved. The DPRMS is a high speed line-scanning camera system to measure the rebound and penetration of a pile in a construction work. A main problem in the DPRMS is a measurement error, which is caused by a shock or vibration due to a hammer impact. The measurement error is investigated by analyzing vibration signals of the DPRMS during the impact. Moreover, the frequency response functions of the DPRMS are also analyzed. As a result, it is found that the tripod height has an influence on the DPRMS performance and a shorter tripod is better. One more founding in this study is that the DPRMS should be placed with a appropriate distance from a pile for improving the measurement precision.

  • The purpose of this paper is to find the most vital arc in the minimum cost flow problem. The most vital arc is the arc whose removal results in the greatest influence in the costs or the amount of demands in a given minimum cost flow network. This problem can be well applied to the conflict situations such as military logistics network or communications network. In this situation, network user wants to know which arcs are the most vital to him so that he can reinforce these arcs against attack, while interdictor wants to destroy these arcs which increase the distance of the shortest path most through the network. When one of arcs is removed from the network of the minimum cost flow problem, two kinds of situations can be occurred ; breaking feasibility and increasing cost. In case of breaking feasibility, the rank of arcs are determined using the amount of modified flow in a related network which is made of modifying the optimal alternative of the minimum cost flow problem. The rank of arcs with the increased costs are determined by using a method which finds the directed cycle with the minimum cost in a related network.

  • In order to manage national environment effectively, one has to understand its ecological traits. The difference of temperature determines ecological traits of each respective region. In other words, temperature differentials on surface make a great impact on botanical structure. Currently, isothermal data-produced by meteorological stations based upon time series analysis-are widely used to plan and manage national environment. Nonetheless, the isothermal data do not reflect real surface temperature of regions. Because of numerous mountainous terrains in the Korean peninsula where temperature varies widely according to altitude, the range of temperature distribution-that reflects altitudinal change-has to be paid special attention. This study aims at expressing in space isothermal distribution that is necessary to plan and manage national environment effectively. In addition, not just South Korea, but also North Korea was included for isothermal distribution. As a result, this study corrected established isothermal lines up to date and demonstrated that altitude, latitude, and distance from coastal lines greatly influence temperature distribution of the Korean peninsula.

  • A study on adhesion and wear resistance of VC(vanadium carbide) coating on die steels, STD11 and STD61, has been carried out. The VC coating on the die steels was made by immersing them in molten borax bath, a kind of TRD(thermo-reactive deposition and diffusion). Adhesion strength and wear resistance were investigated using scratch test, indentation test and plate-disc test(Ogoshi type) respectively. The influence of sliding distance on the amount of wear has been determined and dominant wear mechanisms has been characterized using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and EDS spectroscopy. The critical adhesion strength($L_c$) between VC coating layer and substrate(STD11) was increased to 60N($L_c$) in the scratch test. In the case of STD61, the strength increased to 24N. The wear resistance of VC coated die steels was excellent because the diffusion layer formed just below the coating layer. The dominant wear mechanism was identified as adhesive wear for VC coating die steels which were worn by combination of cracking and plucking of VC fragments and disc.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the current situation of Korean shipbuilding industry and the effects of free trade agreements (FTAs) in this field. This paper uses empirical research models including a panel gravity model based on trade, gross domestic product, purchasing power parity, population, distance, and implementation of FTA. According to the results of the analysis, FTAs have a positive influence on the Korean shipbuilding industry. Therefore, the Korean government needs to work positively in order to sign FTAs and provide support for the industry and related businesses to grow.

  • In this work, the behaviours of conducting wire type particles within the coaxial electrode gap energized with high ac voltage have been systematically investigated using charge simulation method. For this, spheroidal charge is adopted as a image charge for the CSM analysis in order to calculate the acquired charge of the particles which are erected on the surface of the outer electrode. For this purpose, the effects of the lengths and diameters of Cu, Al particles in gas insulated system have been studied by a numerical computation and particle lifting voltage, lifting field, breakdown voltage, acquired charge and travelling distance have been considered. From this, we understand that the particle behaviours have different characteristics according to the particle lengths and diameters. And a possible countermeasure, based on the proposed simulation, has been provided with a view to estimating the flashover voltage of $SF_6$ gas under the 1 atm.

  • In the remote welding system using $CO_2$ laser, laser beam is rapidly deflected by moving mirrors of scanner system and has focusable distance over 1000mm from workpiece. From such arrangement, various advantages and disadvantages arise. Remote welding is a highly efficient laser process. As the mirrors of the scanner system allow positioning speeds exceeding 700m/s, it becomes possible to reduce the welding cycle time. On the other hand, as there no the provision of shielding gas which is normally required for beam powers exceeding 3kW, may become difficult task. Therefore, In this study, the influence of the various penetration of back bead by the different laser welding speed on the weld seam formation without shielding gas was investigated.

  • A dynamic elastic local buckling analysis is presented for a pile subjected to an axial impact load. The pile is assumed to be geometrically perfect. The interactions between the pile and the surrounding soil are taken into account. The interactions include the normal pressure and skin friction on the surface of the pile due to the resistance of the soil. The analysis also includes the influence of the propagation of stress waves through the length of the pile to the distance at which buckling is initiated and the mass of the pile. A perturbation technique is used to determine the critical buckling length and the associated critical time. As a special case, the explicit expression for the buckling length of a pile is obtained without considering soil resistance and compared with the one obtained for a column by means of an alternative method. Numerical results obtained show good agreement with the experimental results. The effects of the normal pressure and the skin friction due to the surrounding soil, self-weight, stiffness and geometric dimension of the cross section on the critical buckling length are discussed. The sudden change of buckling modes is further considered to show the 'snap-through' phenomenon occurring as a result of stress wave propagation.
