다양한 릴레이 조건에 따른 협력 통신 기법의 성능 분석 (Performance analysis of cooperative communication algorithm with various relay conditions)

  • In this paper, performance of cooperative communication system is analyzed with various relay conditions for mobile communication system using OFDM. We research mainly on the performance analysis of amplify-and-forward scheme. First, we analyzed the diversity gain between the number of antenna on the relay is one and two. And then, in this paper, we analyzed difference of the performance with distance between relay and mobile. Amplify-and-forward scheme has the problem that the noise components are also amplified in low sinal-to-noise (SNR) condition. The results of this paper can be applicable to the cooperative relay systems.

  • Distance relay is being used for transmission line protection. Recently, current differential relay is used with high reliability in power system. This kind of relay is reported that it has a reliable detection ability, even so high impedance faults take place in transmission line. Therefore it is expected to use and expand widely in many utilities. Tripping of the relay is decided according to the difference between differential and restraint current. However the tripping criterion can be changed by the manufacturers. This paper presents an operational scheme of current differential relay for transmission line protection with graphical model. It is developed for educational purpose for students interesting in power system and protection engineer in utility. MATLAB is used to establish the models.

  • The relay protection engineers are sometimes faced with the difficulties in full protection of high-inertia drive motors during acceleration period. The problem results from lower permitted locked rotor time of the motor compared with motor starting time. Even though the various types of protection relay and other device (Speed switch, Distance relay) are used, the full protections against abnormal starting conditions may not be available. So, the development of a new speed-biased overcurrent relay is suggested in this paper. This paper also presents that speed-biased overcurrent relay can fully protect the high-inertia motor during abnormal starting condition by computer simulation.

  • Arcing fault on overhead lines can be detected by amplitude of the arc voltage using numerical algorithm. In the case of transient fault, the arc voltage has any high value. In the case of permanent fault, the arc voltage is near zero. Thus, fault distance estimation should be performed by digital distance relay algorithm[3]. The purpose of this study is to build a structure for modeling of arcing fault detection and fault distance estimation algorithm using Matlab programming. Additionally, this algorithm has been designed in Graphical User Interface(GHI). So, this method using GUI interface of Matlab can reduce the number of simulation steps in modeling the distance relay.

  • Distance relays need accurate current and voltage for determining the trip ignition. Therefore we must analyze nonlinear phenomena which cause distortion in signals first of all. This paper presents the effect of some distortion(arcing fault and current transformer saturation) in power system. The saturation of a current transformer distorts input current of a distance relay and arcing faults make current and voltage to be changed. This paper describes modeling methods of a current transformer and arcing faults, and describes the simulation result of two distance relay algorithms (discrete fourier transform and modified differential equation methods)

최소자승법을 이용한 고속 거리계전 알고리즘 (A High Speed Distance Relaying Algorithm Based on a Least Square Error Method)

  • A high speed digital distance relaying algorithm based on a least square error method is proposed. To obtain stable phasor values very quickly, first, a lowpass filter which has very short transient period and no overshoot is presented. Secondly, the least square error method having the data window of 3 samples is used by applying a FIR filter which removes the DC-offset component in current relaying signals. Test results show that the proposed distance relaying algorithm detects most of internal faults within a half cycle after faults in a 154[kV] overhead transmission line system.

  • This paper presents a new distance relay modeling techniques which avoids unnecessary computational procedure. A general-purpose simulation language, called MODELS, has been added to the software ATP(Alternative Transients Program) providing a new option to perform numerical and logical manipulations of variables of an electrical system. This language has been designed to replace the previous option TACS (Transient Analysis of Control Systems) which permits to simulate a control system in conjunction with a large power network. One purpose of this study is to build a structure for modeling of digital distance relays within EMTP MODELS. Contrary to the traditional methods, the new method using MODELS reduce the number of simulation steps in modeling the distance relay.

  • This paper presents the method of estimating integral coefficients of new distance relaying algorithm for transmission line protection. The proposed method is based on the differential equation calculates impedance value by approximation of integral term of integro-differential equation which relate voltage with current. As a result, we can determine the integral coefficients in least square error sense in frequency domain and we take into consideration the analog filter characteristics and frequency domain characteristics of the system to be protected. The simulation results showed that these coefficients can be successfully used to obtain impedance value in distance relay.

  • For double-circuit transmission line systems, an accurate digital distance relaying algorithm immune to the reactance effect is proposed. The apparent impedance calculated by the distance relay is influenced by the combined reactance effect of the fault resistance and the load current as well as the mutual coupling effect caused by the zero-sequence current of the adjacent parallel circuit. To compensate the magnitude and phase of the estimated impedance, this algorithm uses phase angle difference between the zero(positive) sequence of the both side of the system seperated by the fault point. The impedance measuring algorithm presented used a current distribution factor to compensate mutual coupling effect instead of the collected zero-sequence current of the adjacent parallel circuit.
