Botanic gardens are steadily increasing based on people's increased interests in environment and ecology, lengthened leisure hours and improved transportation. However, similar florae and undifferentiated display are considered as problems, while their functions, purposes and characteristics have been more diversified. This study aims to investigate the present conditions and problems of display at botanic gardens and to find out solutions to make them exhibit plants through various ways of display and have their own characteristic, through a case study of seven botanic gardens. As botanic gardens are being recognized as a cultural institution, they should have limitations in the aspect of places that simply collect and exhibit rare plants. The current problems are unclear setting of design goals and communication with visitors. The gardens should escape from the existing supplier-oriented view to a visitor-oriented view, thinking about what the visitors will be able to see and get there. In particular, their display lacks differency, aesthetics, eye-level display, and multi-layered display. In addition to the essential functions of collecting the world's plants, exhibiting them according to purposes and giving scientific learning, botanic gardens should also show a sense of seasons with plants, trigger interests and amusement through unique plants, make visitors more interested in florae and closer to plants, and include social functions. Botanic gardens should be capable of leaning resources display, speciated display, complex and convergent garden-type display, and display fit for local and cultural contexts.

In this paper, the prototype of a walking guide robot with tactile display is introduced, and the psychophysical experiment of the tactile recognition for a tactile display is carried out and analyzed. The objective of this research is the development of a walking guide robot for the blind to walk safely. A walking guide robot consists of a guide vehicle and a tactile display device. A guide vehicle, located in the front of the walking blind, detects the obstacle using ultrasonic sensors and offers the information of position and walking direction acquired from GPS module to the walking blind by voice. The tactile display device, located in the handle which is connected with the guide vehicle by cane, offers the processed obstacle information such as position, size, moving, shape of obstacle and safe path, etc. The psychophysical experiments for the threshold of perception and recognition ability of tactile stimulation are carried out by the estimation of the subject group. As a result the appropriate tactile stimulus intensity and frequency to recognize tactile stimulation effectively are discussed and derived.

Triode field emitters with planar-carbon-nanopaticle (CNP) cathodes were successfully fabricated using the conventional photolithography and the hotfilament chemical vapor deposition. Electron emission from a CNP triode emitter with a 12-${\mu}m$-diameter gate hole started at the gate voltage of 45 V, and the anode current reached the level of ${\sim}120$ nA at the gate voltage of 60 V, respectively. For the quantitative analysis of the Fowler-Nordheim (F-N) type emission from a CNP triode emitter, we carried out 2dimensional numerical calculation of electrostatic potential using the finite element method. As it turned out, a radial variation of electric field was very important to account for the emission from a planar emitting layer. By assuming the graphitic work function of 5 eV for CNPs, we were able to extract a consistent set of F-N parameters, together with the radial position of emitting sites.
The vehicle navigation system is developed for helping driver to retrieve driving information more easily and lastly. Navigation System informs driver many pieces of driving information - roadway structure and system, on-line traffic condition, the position of vehicle, route guidance, destination and other infor- mation service. As the style of information is diverse and the amount of information is large, driver may have mental and visual overload. The display of information can disturb the driver's attention and this can cause accidents. This state is caused by the defect of human-machine interactions. When the navigation system is designed, human factors - cognitive, judgment, operating -must be considered. The display style must be designed simply and easily, not to be obstacle of human - machine interface. In this study, outside- in view display style and inside-out view display style are compared each other. Tow factors are measured. One is cognitive factor-time of cognition on information that is displayed by screen display, cognition error rate. The other is image of screen display - subject's feeling about several styles of display, degree of subject's preference. The prototype of roadway is four kinds -Cross, T-cross and O-cross. Roadway display for test is taken from paper maps. Traffic condition display style, vehicle position display style and route guidance display style are taken from current display style. Traffic condition display style is symbol. vehicle position display style and route guidance display style are described as color and symbol. The test on screen display is implemented doing given tasks. Then the test is analyzed statistically. The result of test analysis gives the guideline to the designer for the map display of the vehicle navigation system.

We have successfully commercialized a novel optical compensation film, OCB-WV film, for OCB-LCD-TVs which has fast response time and wide viewing angle. The OCB-WV film consists of a 45degree-aligned discotic layer and a high Rth biaxial TAC film, which is suited for a roll-to-roll polarizer manufacturing process. This OCB-WV has brought out the excellent features that OCB intrinsically has, making nextgeneration fast-response LCD-TVs possible and free from image blurring in conjunction with an impulsive driving scheme.
Polymide is widely used alignment material of recent commercial LCD panel structure. Generally, polyimide alignment material is classified soluble polyimide type and polyamic acid type with their main bond structure of solution state. specially, compared to polyamic acid alignment layer, soluble polyimide type alignment layer have excellent reliability during long term LCD driving cause of their high imidazation ratio(%), high voltage holding ratio(%) and low ion density. The other side, this type alignment materials has significant DC image stickicng side effect for using in-plane switching mode lcd structure cause of their slow DC discharging property. we applied inorganic salt to usual soluble polyimide type alignment layer and found out this technique had good DC image sticking property without any loss of reliability property in inplane switching LCD cell structure. This approach leads excellent DC image sticking property with maintaining high reliability property this approach confirmed improves an image sticking and a reliability simultaneously from the horizontality aligned LCD mode whose relatively bad image sticking property.

Lifetime study of blue phosphorescent and thermally activated delayed fluorescent organic light-emitting diodes was carried out to understand the dominant degradation process during electrical operation of the devices. Doping concentration dependence of the phosphorescent and thermally activated delayed fluorescent organic light-emitting diodes was studied, which demonstrated long lifetime at low doping concentration in the phosphorescent devices and at high doping concentration in the thermally activated delayed fluorescent devices. Detailed mechanism study of the two devices described that triplet-triplet annihilation is the main degradation process of phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes, whereas triplet-polaron annihilation is the key degradation factor of the thermally activated delayed fluorescent devices.
In TFT-LCD, mura is a defect which degrades the display quality. The resistance difference between gate lines is the main cause of H-Block mura. Two methods could eliminate this defect. A thinner gate layer or gate fan-out pattern decrease mura level. H-Block mura has been reduced after implementing the new schemes.
We carried out the human visual evaluation on PDPs and LCDs to clarify the viewer preference and the related physical and physiological factors. In the subjective evaluation, the impression test using the semantic differential method was carried out. In the objective evaluation, the eye motion tracking system was used. Our study showed that considering the real usage, the optimum display for viewers was that which showed more soft and smooth image without blurring.
