Objectives : We evaluated the effect of Mckenzie method treatment by participating two patients suffering from Tortipelvis by lumbar disc herniation. Methods : Two patients were diagnosed as Tortipelvis by lumbar disc herniation through CT scan and X-ray examination. We used Mckenzie method and measured VAS(Visual analogue scale). Results and Conclusions : After using Mckenzie method treatment, We found out a recovery from both patients suffering from Tortipelvis by lumbar disc herniation. The result, through our study, suggests that Mckenzie method treatment was effective to cure the Tortipelvis by lumbar disc herniation. It also was effective to reduce the low back pain and to stabilize the lumbar disc herniation.

Optimum cross-sectional shape of an automotive disc brake was developed based on FEM thermal analyses and the Taguchi method. Frictional heat flux and convection heat transfer coefficients were first calculated using equations and applied to the disc to calculate accurate temperature distribution and thermal deformations under realistic braking conditions. Maximum stress was generated in an area with highest temperature under pads and near the hat of ventilated disc and vanes. The SN ratio from Taguchi method and MINITAB was applied to obtain the optimum cross-sectional design of a disc brake on the basis of thermal deformations. The optimum cross-section of a disc can reduce thermal deformation by 15.2 % compared to the initial design.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of DISC behavior pattern, stress-managing method, and the stress level on job attitude of hospital Employees, and to provide suggestions for effective human resources management in hospital settings. First, the research suggested emotional or aversive stress-managing method had significant influence to the stress level, whereas DISC behavior patterns did not. Second, to the job satisfaction, Influence, Compliance and Steadiness of DISC behavior patterns, challenging or aversive stress-managing method, and the stress level showed immediate meaningful effect. Third, for the system immersion, challenging or emotional ress-managing method as well as the job satisfaction showed direct influence. Especially, the challenging method had not only a direct but an indirect effect through mediating job satisfaction.

Optical Archive system consists of cartridge, drive and transfer robot. Transfer robot moves disc in cartridge to drive that reads data of disc. Distance between disc in cartridge and transfer robot very short, about 4mm. When disc projects, there is a danger of collision. Collision can cause breakage of disc and breakdown of system. To prevent collision of disc and transfer robot, projection of disc should be detected. In this paper, we proposed error monitoring method of projecting disc in archive data storage using camera. Proposed algorithm is evaluated by experiments with archive system.

Objectives : The aim of this study is to investigate the state of cervical disc herniation according to the degree of cervical lordosis and age. Methods : 67 records of inpatients who were diagnosed with herniated intervertebral disc(HIVD) of the cervical spine were analyzed. Cobb's method, Jochumsen method and the Ishihara index were used to measure the degree of cervical lordosis. The state of the cervical disc was identified using magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) of the cervical spine. Then correlations among cervical lordosis, age and cervical disc herniation were analyzed. Results : Disc bulging was associated with hypolordosis and disc protrusion was associated with hyperlordosis and age. Disc extrusion was not associated with either cervical lordosis or age. The number of disc herniations in the cervical spine was correlated with age significantly, but not with cervical lordosis. Conclusions : Cervical disc herniation had a tendency to correlate with age and cervical lordosis, although this is not definite. Future studies that analyze more radiographic images of patients with HIVD of the cervical spine might be necessary to identify the influence of cervical lordosis on cervical disc herniation.

A disc spring consists of a conical disc. A load-displacement formula was newly developed in the form of energy method to consider both rigid and friction. The cross section of the disc spring has identical slope angles at the bottom of conical. To solve such a problem, an energy method calculation is proposed. To achieve the goal of this study, the proposed calculation is extended to a disc spring with friction. A firm basis background study based on Almen's work is presented in developing a new numerical approach to predict the available formulation for a disc spring with friction.

Purpose: As a preliminary study, the purpose of this study was to examine the indirect estimation of the lumbar intervertebral disc size by two anthropometric methods, in order to compare these indirect methods with the direct analysis by radiological imaging. Methods: The wrist, elbow, knee, and ankle joint (both right and left) diameters were measured in 52 volunteers, and then intervertebral disc size was calculated using two anthropometric methods (Colombini and modified Colombini). The data were analysed with independent t-test to assess clinical usefulness. Results: When using right and left joint diameter, there was no significant difference in the estimation value of the L4-5 and L5-S1 intervetebral disc sizes. However, the study has shown that male subjects have significantly larger L4-5 and L5-S1 intervertebral disc sizes, compared with those of female subjects. In addition, disc sizes calculated by Colombini's formula were significantly larger than modified Colombini's formula. Conclusion: The indirect estimation of the intervertebral disc size by anthropometric method can be considered as a clinically useful method. However, further study should be conducted to compare anthropometric values with other radiological imaging.
This paper describes a new method of discrimination between the normal disc and the rewritable one. The conventional method of disc discrimination, using Focus error signal, has a heavy fluctuations. To achieve an accurate discrimination, in this paper, the sum of side beam[1]signal is used for that. A new approach is expected to improve the performance of disc discrimination as well as to reduce the signal variation almost by 50%. Techniques in this paper are applicable to the all types of optical disc player, such as CD (compact disc), VCD(Video-CD) and DVD (digital versatile disc) and any other optical disc players.
This paper describes the application of a coupled finite element-boundary element method (FE-BEM) to obtain the steady-state response of a piezoelectric transducer. The particular structure considered is a PZT4 disc-typed projector. The projector is three-dimensionally simulated to transduce applied electric charge on axial surfaces of the piezoelectric disc to acoustic pressure in air or in water. The directivity pattern of the acoustic field formed from the projected sound pressure is also simulated. And the displacement of the disc caused by the externally applied electric charge is shown in temporal motion. The coupled FE-BE method is described in detail.
