The purpose of this study is to portray the phenomena of information poverty of the families of children with developmental disabilities. The focus was especially put on investigating their information needs of everyday lives and information-seeking behaviors. The sample group includes six children with developmental disabilities and their families, mainly mothers. The investigation was conducted by the participant observation and in-depth interviews. The study found out that they sought the formal information sources such as medical specialists and special agencies first with which they were not satisfied. As a result, they rather relied on informal information sources. And the information from 'the group of families of children with developmental disabilities' was thought to be the most reliable information for them. In terms of information related behaviors, the strongest information needs were regarding the children's special education, especially to the school education, and they made effort to seek reliable information. They, however, tended to passively treat their personal concerns that are not related to their disabled children. This study found out that their information poverty is in terms of the information environment, information sources and their attitude to information, and that it comes from the external(social) factors as well as internal(individual) ones.
The research subject is 8 mothers who put their physical/mentally impaired children in a group home, as the research method, this study conducted an in-depth interview survey. The participants of this study collected data from the in-depth interview on 8 mothers who put their disabled children to the group home. In the result of open coding, total 34 concepts, 28 subcategories and 13 categories were derived. The core category in the selective coding was 'establishing restorative relationship through entering a group home after encountering the limit of nurture.' Practical Strategies include the following; first, it's necessary to provide psychology counselling consequent on a mother's nurturing phase, and this study proposes a program for a father having a child with disability; in addition, there is the necessity of having to arrange the differentiated facility for physically/mentally impaired people, which meets the needs of the relevant people. At a level of policy, this study suggested the necessity of having to take into account the minimization of poverty problem facing a family having a disable child through the caring card, necessity of the use of good-natured card, and medical-social-welfare-based intervention, expansion of facility-touring class installation, and use of adult guardianship system, and differential payment of disabled child nurturing allowance consequent on income quantile, etc.
Many studies verified the relationship between parenting stress and the abuse of children with disability. It means that disability is a risk factor for abuse. The purpose of this study is to examine the parenting stress as a predictor of child abuse potential. For this study, 150 parents of children with disabilities were recruited. A personal questionnaire, parenting stress index, and potential factors of child abuse were responded. According to the results, parents who have children with disabilities reported high parenting stress and also parenting stress significantly affected parents' attitudes toward child abuse. Income, level of education, social involvement, governmental support, and social services for disabled were related to parenting stress and child abuse. Stepwise multiple regression analysis identified the variables of social involvement and social services for disabled as the most important variables in explaining parenting stress and child abuse. This study suggests that social supports and services for the parents of children with disabilities should be provided.

Methods : This study was executed with two group, pre-post test quasi-experimental study design. Among the 24 children with cerebral palsy as the subjects were allocated to the experimental and control group. Both groups were subjected to neuro-developmental treatment, with the experimental group performing family-centered intervention program for 40 minutes, 3 times a week for 12 weeks. Assessments were conducted before intervention, after 6 weeks and 12 weeks of intervention on gross motor function and performance, static and dynamic balance. Results : Although there was significant difference in the gross motor function and performance after 12 weeks of intervention, the mean scores of the experimental group increased more after 12 weeks of intervention than those of the control group with significant difference between the groups. Although there was significant difference in the static and dynamic balance after 12 weeks of intervention, the mean values of the experimental group decreased more after 12 weeks of intervention than those of the control group with significant difference between the groups. Conclusion : Therefore, these results suggest that on family-centered intervention on children with cerebral palsy can be provided as an beneficial and reliable clinical intervention program in development on gross motor and balance.
The purpose of this study was to carry out cognitive movement therapy program for children with affective and behavioral disorder based on neuro science, psychology, motor learning, muscle physiology, biomechanics, human motion analysis, movement control and to quantify characteristic of expression and gestures according to change of facial expression by emotional change. We could observe problematic expression of children with affective disorder, and could estimate the efficiency of application of movement therapy program by the face expression change of children with affective disorder. And it could be expected to accumulate data for early detection and therapy process of development disorder applying converged measurement and analytic method for human development by quantification of emotion and behavior therapy analysis, kinematic analysis. Therefore, the result of this study could be extendedly applied to the disabled, the elderly and the sick as well as children.

The subjects of the study were 146 parents with developmental disabilities, and data analysis using the SPSS 22.0 program was conducted. The mediating effect was Baron and Kenny Hierarchical regression analysis and sobel-test were conducted. As a result of the study, the positive effect of parents' parenting efficacy on the level of self-reliance and strengthening family competency of children with developmental disabilities was verified. Purpose : There is a lack of research on this field in the Republic of Korea, especially those that have seen the effect of interaction between siblings through sensory integration therapy (SIT). Therefore, this study sought to find out the effectiveness of SIT with siblings through the Revised Knox Preschool Play Scale (RKPPS) and playtime. Methods : The experimental group consisted of 10 disabled children, and 10 normal siblings of the disabilities joined the program as a helper. In addition, 10 children with disabilities conducted the intervention as a control group. The difference between the experimental group and the control group is whether they participate with their sibling or not during the intervention period. The present study was conducted a SIT for 40 minutes per week for the experimental and the control group and then had 10 minutes of an interview with the parents of children with disabilities. A total of 10 programs were implemented for 10 weeks. Results : The experimental group showed statistically significant differences in space management, material management, pretense/symbolic, participation, and total scores. The control group showed significant differences between pre and post results in the participation and the total scores. The experimental group and the control group showed significant differences in the pre-post comparison results. The comparison of post-intervention between both groups of the RKPPS and playtime results showed a statistically significant increase in the experimental group. Conclusion : The sibling SIT showed better play level and time than the individual therapy. However, comparisons before and after the intervention in the level of play showed significant results only in participation and total scores in the control group. Clinically, it is recommended to make good use of sibling relationships when applying SIT, and if that is not possible, continuous observation is needed that children who received treatment become familiar with the environment in which they can be treated.

This study tried to identify the reading and library use and requirements of children and young adults with disabilities in school age, and to suggest improvements in library policy, centered on the National Library for the Disabled Unlike the library policy centered on the creation of alternative materials and the establishment of an integrated cataloging system for alternative materials, children and young adults with disabilities mainly use paper books, and 80% of them hardly use the library. This study established a system centered on the special school library and proposed to establish a foundation for enjoying reading culture through curation of books by disability type and developmental age. In addition, based on the development of international standardization of multimedia collections, cooperation with the National Library for Children and Young Adults, and the expansion of librarian, collections, and budgets of special school libraries, linkage with students with disabilities in special classes of general schools was suggested.
