Out of 153 subjects, 70 were Acute Low Back Pain (ALBP) group and 83 were Chronic Low Back Pain (CLBP) group. The collected data was analyzed using the SAS System V 9.4 program by chi-square test/Fisher's exact test and t-test. Results: The pain and disability scores were higher in ALBP group while the depression score was higher in CLBP group. The educational needs score in the area for the time for lumbar operation was higher in CLBP group. In the Low Back Pain (LBP) treatment management, ALBP group visited clinic (60.0%) most frequently and CLBP group visited both clinic & traditional medicine (66.3%) regularly. Conclusion: In order to minimize the progression from acute to chronic LBP, it is necessary for patients who visited the clinic to be accompanied with an education program that reflects educational needs of patients and with proven alternative therapy.

  • This study is aiming for evaluating the factors influencing rehabilitation medical desire in parents (RMDP) with developmental disability children. This study was made with a randomized sample of 156 parents, who were given a questionnaire about how they feel medical needs for their children. The results of the study were as follows: The RMDP is significantly high in relatively the older aged parents group(p<.01). The RMDP is significantly high in severe disability group(p<.01). The RMDP is significantly high in the more spend group of monthly medical cost(p<.05). The group difference of RMDP by monthly income or movement type of disability is not significant(p>.05). It is thought that medical staff need to be actively involved in parents group with developmental disability children to improve motivation, who is relatively the younger than 35 years old or has mild to moderate disability degree of child.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the characteristics of caregivers and adults with intellectual disability, and social support, family function, and rehabilitation needs in caregivers. Methods : A total 98 pairs of adults with intellectual disability and their caregivers participated in this study. The researchers examined the general characteristics of the adults with intellectual disability and their caregivers. The evaluation included analysis of the level of activities of daily living, ability to communicate, and health status of the adults with intellectual disability, while the family income, health status, utility and the need for rehabilitation, social support (multidimensional scaled perceived social support, MSPSS) and family function (adaptation, partnership, growth, affection, resolve, and APGAR index) of the caregivers were measured. The data collected were analyzed to determine the relationship of the characteristics of adults with intellectual disability and the social support, family function, and rehabilitation needs of caregivers using regression and correlation analysis. Results : The rehabilitation needs were significantly correlated with the age of the adults with intellectual disability (p<.01), and the subjective health status of the caregivers (p<.05). The education level of the caregivers affected social support significantly ($R^2=.058$, p=.021). The communication ability of the adults with intellectual disability affected family function ($R^2=.071$, p=.01). The social support of caregivers had a significant effect on family function ($R^2=.488$, p<.001). Conclusion : These findings suggest that the barriers to community rehabilitation should be lowered, and the authors discussed the results of the present investigation.

Methods : Using raw data from the National Survey of the Disabled Person (2017), this study compared 6,320 disabled persons without language disorder and 229 disabled person with language disorder among 6,549 persons with disabilities. The dependent variables included sociodemographic characteristics, IADL, and healthcare needs. Results : People with language disorder were younger (p<.001), illiterate (p<.001), and had higher family income (p=.003) than people without language disorder. In addition, people with language disorder had a higher disability grade than people without language disorder (p<.001), and the percentages of brain injury, hearing impairment, and intellectual disability were higher among type of disability (p<.001). People with language disorder showed significantly higher dependence on all items of IADL than people without language disorder (p<.001). As the first-ranked healthcare need, people without language disorder had the highest percentage of "chronic illness management," and people with language disorder had the highest percentage of "disability management" (p<.001). Conclusion : The findings of the current investigation suggest that health care services are needed to improve IADL in people with language disorder and that the development of a disability management program for people with language disorder is required.

  • A salivary stone on mouth floor was removed in a 10-year-old girl with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. If left untreated, sialolithiasis can lead to inflammation of whole salivary gland with severe pain and inflammation that spread to other side of salivary gland causing damaging of teeth, abscess, and nerve disorders. Special needs patients have difficulty to express their pain or discomfort. To overcome communication problem and offer appropriate treatment in proper time, a careful and comprehensive clinical examination including soft tissue and tooth should be prioritized in special needs patients visiting the dental clinic.

  • Purpose: This study is to propose the establishment and direction of a public health-medical cooperation system for rehabilitation medical services for people with physical and brain disabilities in Gangneung, Korea. Research design, data and methodology: The study focused on 30 individuals with these disabilities registered. Data was collected from December 20, 2021, to December 31, 2021, through structured surveys administered by researchers visiting disability-related facilities, utilizing convenience and random sampling methods. Descriptive statistics and cross-analysis were applied for analysis. Results: Specifically, among respondents with physical disabilities, a total of 20 needs were identified, with 'Visiting health services' (25.0%) and 'Oral health services' (20.0%) ranking highest. The survey results regarding visit-based rehabilitation services for disability support showed a high demand, emphasizing the necessity of service provision tailored to the needs of recipients, focusing on disability prevention, health management, and motor function recovery, rather than solely medical or therapeutic concepts. Conclusions: Gangwon National University Hospital, as the regional referral hospital in Gangwon, should collaborate with Gangwon Province Rehabilitation Hospital to provide prompt acute rehabilitation services. Moreover, cooperation and collaboration with Gangneung Asan Hospital, the tertiary hospital in the region, are essential to ensure continued acute and recovery phase rehabilitation therapy for a certain period in the Gangneung area.
