This paper describes a performance of a satellite tracking antenna control system for mobile DBS reception. In order to improve the tracking speed and the stability of this system, a directional sensor function is added to a conventional left-right tracking algorithm. The satellite tracking experiments of the fabricated antenna system for the DBS reception were performed at a highway and an urban area. The measured AGC signal level on the highway was observed above the level to watch television. Therefore, an excellent performance of the hardware system with the tracking algorithm compensated for the directional sensor was confirmed.

The failure at the head section of rubble-mound detached breakwaters is more important than other failure modes. because this initial failures will occur the failure of the trunk section and lead to the instability of the structure. The three-dimensional failure modes are discussed using the experimental data with multi-directional waves considering the failure modes occurring around the head of the rubble-mound detached breakwater. The spacial characteristics of failure mode around the rubble-mound structures can be summarized as follows: 1) It was clarified that the failure modes at the round head of a detached breakwater are classified as failure by plunging breaker on the slope, failure by direct incident wave force and failure by scouring at the toe of the detached breakwater. 2) The failure mode was found in the lower wave height than the design wave by the breaker depth effects. It is clarified that the structure monitored was safely designed for the design wave but the failure was occurred by the reason of breaker waves and scouring processes at the toe 3) It was observed that scouring at the toe developed in the region where steady stream due to vorticity was generated and the spatial variation of scour at the toe of the round head was predominated by incident wave direction.
This paper presents a consequence of the systematic approach to identify the aerodynamic parameters of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) equipped with the automatic flight control system. A 3-2-1-1 excitation is applied for the longitudinal mode while a multi-step input is applied for lateral/directional excitation. Optimal time step for excitation is sought to provide the broad input bandwidth. A fully automated programmed flight test method provides high-quality flight data for system identification using the flight control computer with longitudinal and lateral/directional autopilots, which enable the separation of each motion during the flight test. The accuracy of the longitudinal system identification is improved by an additional use of the closed-loop flight test data. A constrained optimization scheme is applied to estimate the aerodynamic coefficients that best describe the time response of the vehicle. An appropriate weighting function is introduced to balance the flight modes. As a result, concurrent system models are obtained for a wide envelope of both longitudinal and lateral/directional flight maneuvers while maintaining the physical meanings of each parameter.

Fault Ride Through(FRT) requirement prevents disconnections of distributed generations during the specific time on disturbance condition for system stability. However, since there is a limitation to the FRT capability of distributed generation, and the protection system needs to clear the fault quickly before the distributed generation is disconnected. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel optimal setting method of directional overcurrent relay considering FRT of distributed generation. The proposed method reduces the probability of disconnections of the distributed generation in disturbance without additional equipment considering the FRT capability of the distributed generation by calculating the optimal relay setting through the Genetic Algorithm(GA).

In most drilled shafts construction sites, it is common, depending on the site condition, to use either water or slurry as fluids for maintaining stability of the holes, however, there are yet no design manuals by hole stability fluids. In this paper, in order to evaluate load transfer characteristics of the drilled shafts by hole stability fluids, two test piles are constructed over the soft ground of the lower Busan Bay based on the Bi-directional Pile Load Test. The test results showed that no ultimate states has found under the condition of applied loads with fresh water and slurry as hole fluids for drilled shafts. Then, the load transfer behavior were estimated with the data measured in fields and the effect of hole stability fluids were compared. All these results are presented in the paper.
This is a research on the method of how to improve lateral stability for the small general aviation airplane to meet the FAR part 23 requirements. This research is based on the experience of certification flight tests of KC-100 airplane for Korea first type certification. KAS/FAR Part 23.177 is the static lateral and directional stability requirement. And, 23.177(b) requires to show the tendency to raise the low wing in steady heading side slip maneuver. However, it is very difficult for the low wing to be raised at the low speed during the steady heading side slip maneuver. So, the requirement allows not be negative at the $1.2V_{S1}$ speed and takeoff configuration. (static stability requirement requires low wing picked up at any speed except $1.2V_{S1}$ speed and takeoff configuration) In this paper, the static lateral stability requirements and the lessons & learned of KC-100 airplane certification flight test results are shown.

This paper describes the new modal analysis method to detect the presence of the breathing crack in a general rotor system with disk asymmetry and stator anisotropy. It is proposed that the modal analysis using directional frequency response functions (dFRFs), which, accounting for the directivity in modes, clears the heavily over-lapping of other harmonics occurring from non-isotropic properties in addition to those due to crack, can provide an effective method to detect the modes by a crack. The simulations from the simple general rotor model show that the r-dFRFs (reverse dFRFs) for asymmetry confirms a good indicator of the presence of the breathing crack and the instability is primarily influenced by the shaft asymmetry than the breathing crack.
This article deals with the vibrational response of a nanobeam made of bi-directional FG materials which is modeled via nonlocal strain gradient theory along with HSDT. Also, the nanobeam is placed on a Winkler-Pasternak foundation and is under axial mechanical loading. By using the variational energy method, the formulation and end conditions are obtained. Then, DSC-IM, as the numerical solution procedure is employed to extract the results. The material properties of the nanobeam are FG which varies in two directions with in exponential manner. The results from DDN are verified by using other papers. Lastly, a thorough parametric investigation is presented to investigated the effect of different parameters.

This paper presents a multiple degree-of-freedom (dof) energy bounding approach (EBA) to enhance directional transparency while guaranteeing stability for multiple-dof haptic interaction. It was observed that the passivity condition for multiple ports may lead to some oscillatory limit cycle behaviors in some coordinate directions even though the total sum of energy flow-in is positive, meaning that the system is passive. The passivity condition, therefore, needs to be applied to each coordinate in order to avoid oscillatory behavior by keeping each energy flow-in always positive. For guaranteeing passivity, which in turn, stability in each coordinates, the EBA is applied. For multiple-dof haptic interaction, however, the EBA in each coordinate may distort the direction of the force vector to be rendered since the EBA may cut down the magnitude of the force and torque vectors to be rendered in order to ensure the passivity. For avoiding this problem, a simple projection method is presented. The validity of the proposed algorithm is shown by several experiments.

This paper presents new differential methods for computing the combined and single dynamic stability derivatives of flight vehicle. Based on rigid dynamic mesh technique, the combined dynamic stability derivative can be achieved by imposing the aircraft pitching to the same angle of attack with two different pitching angular velocities and also translating it to the same additional angle of attack with two different rates of angle of attack. As a result, the acceleration derivative is identified. Moreover, the rotating reference frame is adopted to calculate the rotary derivatives when simulating the steady pull-up with different pitching angular velocities. Two configurations, the Hyper Ballistic Shape (HBS) and Finner missile model, are considered as evaluations and results of all the cases agree well with reference or experiment data. Compared to traditional ones, the new differential methods are of high efficiency and accuracy, and potential to be extended to the simulation of combined and single stability derivatives of directional and lateral.
