Joint Estimation of TOA and DOA in IR-UWB System Using Sparse Representation Framework

  • This paper addresses the problem of joint time of arrival (TOA) and direction of arrival (DOA) estimation in impulse radio ultra-wideband systems with a two-antenna receiver and links the joint estimation of TOA and DOA to the sparse representation framework. Exploiting this link, an orthogonal matching pursuit algorithm is used for TOA estimation in the two antennas, and then the DOA parameters are estimated via the difference in the TOAs between the two antennas. The proposed algorithm can work well with a single measurement vector and can pair TOA and DOA parameters. Furthermore, it has better parameter-estimation performance than traditional propagator methods, such as, estimation of signal parameters via rotational invariance techniques algorithms matrix pencil algorithms, and other new joint-estimation schemes, with one single snapshot. The simulation results verify the usefulness of the proposed algorithm.

A Wireless Location-Based Routing Algorithm in Multi-User Game Environments

  • In this paper, we propose a wireless location-based routing algorithm which uses the location information of its neighbor nodes and a destination node. At first, the proposed routing algorithm forwards a packet to the X direction by selecting a closest node to its destination as a next hop in terms of the X coordinate until the packet reaches closely to the packet's destination. Then the packet is forwarded to the Y direction by selecting a closest node to its destination in terms of the Y coordinate. We use a back off mechanism in case that a next hop cannot be found using the proposed routing algorithm, which resolves loops while forwarding. The experimental results show that the proposed routing algorithm performs well like the existing routing algorithms Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector and Greedy Perimeter Stateless Routing. It is expected to use the proposed routing algorithm in the digital battlefield of military environments and survival games of commercial environments.

  • In this paper, we presented the stereo algorithm for 3-D object recognition. In order to solve the problem for matching time in existed methods, we proposed the method which used the moving direction vector. On the other hand, after we extracted the moving vectors by moving direction of objects, rotated object was matched on axis of it. Using the Hough transform, we obtained the 2-D synthesed image as reference images corresponding to the rate of moving, and then compared with the unknown input images.

  • This paper presents a fast motion estimation algorithm, 5DS, useful for video coding. We first try block matching to 4 directions(N, E, W, S) to estimate motions in this algorith, since most of motions in video are oriented to those direction, and then try one additional diagonal matching between the matching ponts having small MADs. It makesthis algorithm possible for searching through a diagonal direction which is not adequate to logarithmic (LOG) search algorithm. This proposed algorithm has almost same PSNR but, 1.9, 1.2 times faster than classical block matching methods such as three steps search(TSS) and LOG search algorithms.

  • This paper presents a method to estimate the position of a mobile robot by using a gyro sensor and accelerometer sensors on it. Together with contact sensors we propose a mapmaking algorithm for an indoor environment where the robot moves. The direction of robot can be estimated through a gyro sensor and the distance is founded out by accelerometers. Then one can presume the position of robot. Using the direction and distance values vector-based mapmaking job can be performed. Tactile sensors help the robot recognize the boundary limit value of indoor environment and decide outer wall line of the map.

  • With speediness of economy, the structure of land use has taken lots of change. How can we quickly and exactly obtain detailed land use/cover change information, and then we know land resource amount, quality, distributing and change direction. More and more high resolution satellite systems are under development. So we can make good use of RS data, existed GIS data and GPS data to extract change information and update map. In this paper a fully automated approach for detecting land use/cover change using remote sensing data with object-oriented classification based on GIS data, GPS data is presented (referring to Fig.1). At same time, I realize integrating raster with vector methods of updating the basic land use/land cover map based on 3S technology and this is becoming one of the most important developing direction in 3S application fields; land-use and cover change fields over the world. It has been successful applied in two tasks of The Ministry of Land and Resources P.R.C and taken some of benefit.

Plane Detection Method Using 3-D Characteristics at Depth Pixel Unit (깊이 화소 단위의 3차원 특성을 통한 평면 검출 방법)

  • In this paper, a plane detection method using depth information is proposed. 3-D characteristics of a pixel are defined as a direction and length of a normal vector whose is calculated from a plane consisting of a local region centered on the pixel. Image coordinates of each pixel are transformed to 3-D coordinates in order to obtain the local planes. Regions of each plane are detected by calculating similarity of the 3-D characteristics. The similarity of the characteristics consists of direction and distance similarities of normal vectors. If the similarity of the characteristics between two adjacent pixels is enough high, the two pixels are regarded as consisting of same plane. Simulation results show that the proposed method using the depth picture is more accurate for detecting plane areas than the conventional method.

  • 본 논문에서는 이동 에드혹 네트워크(Mobile Ad hoc Network: MANET)에서의 상황인식 기반의 스케쥴링 기법인 DDV(Dynamic Direction Vector)-hop알고리즘을 제안한다. 기존 MANET에서는 노드의 이동성으로 인한 동적 네트워크 토폴리지, 네트워크 확장성 결여의 대한 취약성을 지니고 있다. 본 논문에서는 계층적 클러스터 단위의 동적인 토폴로지에서 노드가 이동하는 방향성 및 속도에 대한 노드의 이동 속성 정보를 고려하여 클러스터를 생성 및 유지하는 DDV-hop 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 클러스터 헤드노드를 기준으로 클러스터 멤버노드의 방향성 및 속도의 속성 정보를 비교하여 유사한 노드간 클러스터링을 구성하고, 이로부터 헤드노드를 선택하는 방법이다. 실험결과, 제안하는 알고리즘이 네트워크의 부하를 감소시키고 네트워크 토폴로지를 안정적으로 유지할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Application of Displacement-Vector Objective Function for Frequency-domain Elastic Full Waveform Inversion (주파수 영역 탄성파 완전파형역산을 위한 변위벡터 목적함수의 적용)

  • In the elastic wave equations, both horizontal and vertical displacements are defined. Since we can measure both the horizontal and vertical displacements in field acquisition, these displacements compose a displacement vector. In this study, we propose a frequency-domain elastic waveform inversion technique taking advantage of the magnitudes of displacement vectors to define objective function. When we apply this displacement-vector objective function to the frequency-domain waveform inversion, the inversion process naturally incorporates the back-propagation algorithm. Through the inversion examples with the Marmousi model and the SEG/EAGE salt model, we could note that the RMS error of the solution obtained by our algorithm decreased more stably than that of the conventional method. Particularly, the density of the Marmousi model and the low-velocity sub-salt zone of the SEG/EAGE salt model were successfully recovered. Since the gradient direction obtained from the proposed objective function is numerically unstable, we need additional study to stabilize the gradient direction. In order to perform the waveform inversion using the displacementvector objective function, it is necessary to acquire multi-component data. Hence, more rigorous study should be continued for the multi-component land acquisition or OBC (Ocean Bottom Cable) multi-component survey.

  • For estimating parameters of possibly nonlinear and/or non-stationary seasonal autoregressive(AR) processes, we introduce a new instrumental variable method which use the direction vector of the regressors in the same period as an instrument. On the basis of the new estimator, we propose new seasonal random walk tests whose limiting null distributions are standard normal regardless of the period of seasonality and types of mean adjustments. Monte-Carlo simulation shows that he powers of he proposed tests are better than those of the tests based on ordinary least squares estimator(OLSE).
