스컬용융법에 의한 루틸 단결정 성장메커니즘과 RE generator 조건에 관한 연구 (A study on the growth mechanism of rutile single crystal by skull melting method and conditions of RF generator)

  • 스컬용융법에 의해 루틸 단결정들을 성장시켰으며, 서로 다른 융액의 유지시간에 따른 ingot의 특성을 비교하였다. 스컬용융법은 교류전자기장(RF)에 의해 전기가 흐르는 융액의 직접유도가열에 근거하며, 가열은 RF 에너지의 흡수로 실행된다. $TiO_2$는 상온에서는 부도체이지만 온도가 올라갈수록 전기 전도성이 증가한다. 따라서, 초기 RF 유도가열을 위해 티타늄 금속 링(외경 : 6cm, 내경 : 4cm, 두께 : 0.2cm)을 $TiO_2$ 분말(아나타제상, CERAC, 3N)내부에 묻었다. 스컬용융법에 의한 산화물 용융에서 매우 중요한 것은 융점에서의 전기 저항 값, RF generator의 주파수 그리고 냉각도가니 크기이다. 본 연구에서는, $TiO_2$의 융점에서의 전기저항$(10^{-2}\~10^{-1}\;{\Omega}{\cdot}m)$은 알루미나$(10^{-1}\;{\Omega}{\cdot}m)$의 지르코니아$(10^{-3}\;{\Omega}{\cdot}m)$의 전기저항 데이터를 바탕으로 추정하였다. 냉각도가니의 내부직경은 11cm, 높이는 14cm였으며, 이것은 침투깊이$(0.36\~1.13cm)$와 RF generator 주파수를 고려하여 결정하였다

Comparative Experiments to Assess the Effects of Accumulator Nitrogen Injection on Passive Core Cooling During Small Break LOCA

  • The accumulator is a passive safety injection device for emergency core cooling systems. As an important safety feature for providing a high-speed injection flow to the core by compressed nitrogen gas pressure during a loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA), the accumulator injects its precharged nitrogen into the system after its coolant has been emptied. Attention has been drawn to the possible negative effects caused by such a nitrogen injection in passive safety nuclear power plants. Although some experimental work on the nitrogen injection has been done, there have been no comparative tests in which the effects on the system responses and the core safety have been clearly assessed. In this study, a new thermal hydraulic integral test facility-the advanced core-cooling mechanism experiment (ACME)-was designed and constructed to support the CAP1400 safety review. The ACME test facility was used to study the nitrogen injection effects on the system responses to the small break loss-of-coolant accident LOCA (SBLOCA) transient. Two comparison test groups-a 2-inch cold leg break and a double-ended direct-vessel-injection (DEDVI) line break-were conducted. Each group consists of a nitrogen injection test and a nitrogen isolation comparison test with the same break conditions. To assess the nitrogen injection effects, the experimental data that are representative of the system responses and the core safety were compared and analyzed. The results of the comparison show that the effects of nitrogen injection on system responses and core safety are significantly different between the 2-inch and DEDVI breaks. The mechanisms of the different effects on the transient were also investigated. The amount of nitrogen injected, along with its heat absorption, was likewise evaluated in order to assess its effect on the system depressurization process. The results of the comparison and analyses in this study are important for recognizing and understanding the potential negative effects on the passive core cooling performance caused by nitrogen injection during the SBLOCA transient.

염료감응 나노입자 $TiO_2$ 태양전지의 광전류와 그 안정성 향상 (Photocurrent and Its Stability Enhancement of Dye-sensitized Nanoparticle $TiO_2$ Solar Cells)

  • 염료감응 태양전지의 전극 물질로 금속산화물인 이산화티타늄$(TiO_2)$를 사용하고, 감응제로 malachite green oxalate, basic blue3, rhodamine B, bromocresol purple 염료를 사용할 때 광전환 효율을 높이고 안정성을 향상시키기 위하여 갖추어야될 염료의 전기화학적 특성과 분광학적 특성을 조사하였다. 기준전극에 대한 염료의 산화전위와 흡수파장을 전자볼트 단위로 환산한 값을 더하여 들뜬 상태를 얻었다. $TiO_2$전극의 평활전위$(E_{fb})$를 결정하여 전도띠 끝 준위$(E_{c,s})$를 계산하였으며, 이를 염료의 들뜬 상태와 비교함으로써 합선 전류$(J_{sc})$를 향상시킬 수 있도록 염료가 갖추어야 할 특성을 알아내었다. 또한 폴리피롤 전도성 고분자를 입혀 $TiO_2$의 결함자리에서 전도띠에 있는 전자가 산화된 염료와 재결합하는 것과 $TiO_2$필름의 균열에 의한 염료의 전극반응을 방지함으로써 광전류의 안정성을 향상시킨 결과를 얻었다.

화강암질 풍화토의 파쇄성에 관한 연구 (The study on the Crushability of Weathered Cranite Soils)

  • The weathered granite soil involves problems in its stability in soil structures depending upon the reduction of soil strength due to the water absorption, crushability, and content of colored mineral and feldspar. As an attemt to solve the problems associated with soil stability, the crushability of weathered granite soil was investigated by conducting tests such as compaction test, CBR test, unconfined compression test, direct shear test, triaxial compression test, and permeability test on the five soil samples different in weathering and mineral compositions. The experimental results are summarized as follows: The ratio of increasing dry density in the weathered granite soil was high as the compaction energy was low, while it was low as the compaction energy was increased. The unconfined compressive strength. and CBR value were highest in the dry side rather than in the soil with the optimum moisture content, when the soil was compacted by adjusting water content. However, the unconfined compressive strength of smples, which were compacted and oven dried, were highest in the wet side rather than in soil with the optimum moisture content. As the soil becomes coarse grain, the ratio of specific surface area increased due to increased crushability, and the increasing ratio of the specific surface area decreased as the compaction energy was increased. The highest ratio of grain crushability was attained in the wet side rather than in the soil with the optimum moisture content. Such tendency was transforming to the dry side as the compaction energy was increased. The effect of water on the grain crushability of soil was high in the coarse grained soil. The specific surface area of WK soil sample, when compacted under the condition of air dried and under the optimum moisture content, was constant regardless of the compaction energy. When the weathered granite soil and river sand with the same grain size were compacted with low compaction energy, the weathered granite soil with crushability had higher dry density than river sand. However, when the compaction energy reached to certain point over limitation, the river sand had higher dry density than the weathered granite soil. The coefficient of permeability was lowest in the wet side rather than in the optimum moisture content, when the soil was compacted by adjusting soil water content. The reduction of permeability of soil due to the compaction was more apparent in the weathered granite soil than in the river sand. The highly significant correlation coefficient was obtained between the amount of particle breakage and dry density of the compacted soil.

  • Large area matrix-addressed image detectors are a recent technology for x-ray imaging with medical diagnostic and other applications. The imaging properties of x-ray pixel detectors depend on the quantum efficiency of x-rays, the generated signal of each x-ray photon and the distribution of the generated signal between pixels. In a phosphor coated detector the light signal is generated by electrons captured in the phosphor screen. In our study we simulated the lateral spread distributions for phosphor coupled detector by Monte Carlo simulations. Most simulations of such detectors simplify the setup by only taking the conversion layer into account neglecting behind. The Monte Carlo code MCNPX has been used to simulate the complete interaction and subsequent charge transport of x-ray radiation. This has allowed the analysis of charge sharing between pixel elements as an important limited factor of digital x-ray imaging system. The parameters are determined by lateral distribution of x-ray photons and x-ray induced electrons. The primary purpose of this study was to develop a design tool for the evaluation of geometry factor in the phosphor coupled optical imaging detector. In order to evaluate the spatial resolution for different phosphor material, phosphor geometry we have developed a simulation code. The developed code calculates the energy absorption and spatial distribution based on both the signal from the scintillating layer and the signal from direct detection of x-ray in the detector. We show that internal scattering contributes to the so-called spatial resolution drop of the image detector. Results from the simulation of spatial distribution in a phosphor pixel detector are presented. The spatial resolution can be increased by optimizing pixel size and phosphor thickness.

청미래덩굴 잎 물추출물이 처리된 HepG2 세포에서의 포도당흡수기전 연구 (Study of the mechanisms underlying increased glucose absorption in Smilax china L. leaf extract-treated HepG2 cells)

  • 본 연구에는 SCLE를 이용하여 시도된 바가 없는 glucose uptake 유도 실험을 수행하여 HepG2 세포에서 포도당흡수가 증가함을 확인하였다. 또한 이런 포도당의 흡수는 HNF-$1{\alpha}$라는 transcription factor의 활성화를 통해 GLUT-2의 발현을 증가시키기 때문인 것을 실험적으로 증명하였다. 뿐만 아니라 Bacillus stearothermophilus 유래의 GK를 이용하여 활성을 측정한 결과 SCLE가 직접적으로 GK를 활성화하여 포도당의 인산화에 영향을 주는 것을 확인할 수 있었으며 그 실험결과들은 Fig. 8에서 도식화 하였다. 본 연구를 통해 SCLE가 ${\alpha}$-glucosidase inhibition 활성에 의한 혈당의 개선과 당뇨예방 효과뿐만 아니라 다양한 세포내 기전을 통해 혈당 및 당뇨의 개선을 유도할 수 있음을 확인하였고, 이는 SCLE가 neutraceuticals 소재로서의 개발가치가 높음을 시사한다.

우유단백질 유래 혈당 조절 기능성 펩타이드 (Anti-diabetic peptides derived from milk proteins)

  • 우유 단백질과 같은 식이 단백질은 분해되기 전에는 대사 조절을 위한 생물학적인 활성을 나타내지 않으나 장에서의 소화과정이나 단백질 분해 효소, 또는 미생물 발효 과정을 통하여 저분자의 펩타이드로 분해되어 수용체 결합을 통하여 생체조절기능을 발휘하거나, 체내 대사의 조절에 관여하는 다양한 효소의 활성을 억제함으로써 기능을 발휘하기도 한다. 우유단백질의 섭취에 의한 혈당 감소 효과는 여러 연구자에 의하여 확인되었으며, 그 작용 기전은 주로 분지사슬 아미노산에 의한 인슐린 분비촉진 기전과 음식물의 소화 과정 중 위장관에서 췌장에서 인슐린 분비 촉진, glucagon의 분비를 감소시켜 혈당을 감소시키는 역할을 담당하는 내분비 호르몬의 일종인 GLP-1의 작용에 영향을 미치는 기전을 생각할 수 있다. 생리적 환경에서 GLP-1은 GLP-1을 가수분해하여 불활성화시키는 DPP-4에 의하여 빠르게 분해되어 생물학적 활성을 소실하기 때문에 DPP-4 억제제는 제 2형 당뇨의 새로운 치료 방법으로써 주목을 받고 있다. DPP-4의 억제 효능을 가진 다수의 기능성 펩타이드가 우유단백질의 분해에 의하여 생성됨이 보고되었으며 그 효능이 in vitro 연구는 물론 동물 모델을 이용한 연구에서도 증명되었다. 이상의 연구 결과를 근거로 할 때 우유 단백질 유래 DPP-4 억제 펩타이드는 인체 적용 연구를 통하여 혈당 조절에 도움을 주는 기능성 소재로 개발될 수 있는 충분한 가능성을 가지고 있다고 판단된다.

CCM용융에 대한 유리용융 조건 연구 (The Study on the Power Consumption for Glass Melting by Cold Crucible Melter)

  • Generally CCM (cold crucible melting) is not suitable for melting glass. However, in this study we described the quantitative relationship between the basic property of glass and power balance, the power absorption in the melt, the losses in the coil and the cold crucible, for melting glass in CCM. The dependence of power balance on the applied frequency and the electric conductivity has been found. Above 300 kHz, the glass (B) contained alkali ion which has the low resistance $3.0{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ at $900^{\circ}C$ and $1.36{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ at $1,100^{\circ}C$ was melted easily and 60% of the overall power was absorbed in the melt and 30% and 10% of the overall power was lost in the cold crucible and coil respectively. Under the same condition, the glass (A) contained non-alkali ion was not melted easily and 50% of the overall power was absorbed in the melt and 40% and 10% of the overall power was lost in the cold crucible and coil respectively. In conclusion, the small absorbed power of the overall power in melt prevented a successful melting as for glass A, and the successful melting depends on the relative size of the absorbed power in melt irrespective of the melting volume. Hence, as typical for direct induction heating method(CCM), the successful melting strongly depended on the chosen working frequency based on electric conductivity of glass, power balance and the control of the critical power which was absorbed in melt.

방사선 형질전환 차조기와 백출 복합추출물이 퇴행성관절염 관련 매개체에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Radiation Mutant Perilla frutescens var. crispa and Atractylodes macrocephala Koidzumi Complex Extract on the Mediators Related to Degenerative Arthritis)

  • 본 연구는 방사선 형질전환 차조기와 백출복합물(차조기 복합물)이 퇴행성관절염 관련 매개체에 미치는 영향을 확인하고자 MIA(monosodium iodoacetate)로 퇴행성관절염을 유도한 랫드로 평가하였다. 차조기 복합추출물을 2주 동안 25, 50, 100 mg/kg/day의 용량으로 경구 투여하고 랫드의 우측관절 내 공간에 MIA를 주입한 후 동일 용량을 4주 동안 지속 투여하였다. 이후, 혈청 바이오마커와 무릎 관절 분석의 형태학 및 조직병리학적 분석에 기초한 치료 효과를 평가하였다. 대조군 랫드와 비교하였을 때 차조기 복합추출물은 혈청 내 염증 및 골 대사 마커(TNF-α, MMP-3, COX-2, PGE2, COMP, Aggrecan)의 생성량을 유의하게 감소시켰다. 이와는 반대로 연골 흡수 매개체인 CTX-2 생성을 증가시켰으며, 방사선 형질전환 차조기는 무릎 연골과 활막을 효과적으로 보존하였다. 그 결과, 차조기 복합물은 퇴행성관절염 증상을 개선하였다. 따라서, 차조기 복합물은 퇴행성관절염 관리를 위한 식품소재로 사용될 수 있다.

항공기 기내 청소노동자의 분진, 초미세먼지(PM2.5) 및 블랙카본 노출수준 평가 (Exposure Assessment of Dust, Ultra Fine Dust(Particulate Matter 2.5, PM2.5) and Black Carbon among Aircraft Cabin Cleaners)

  • Objectives: Aircraft cabin cleaning work is characterized by being performed within a limited time in a narrow and enclosed space. The objective of this study was to evaluate the exposure levels to dust, ultra fine dust(PM2.5) and black carbon(BC) among aircraft cabin cleaners. Methods: Active personal air sampling for respirable dust(n=73) and BC(n=47) was conducted during quick transit cleaning(cabin general and vacuum-specific) and seat cover replacement and total dust and PM2.5 were area-air-sampled as well. Also, size distribution of particle was identified with the cleaning workers targeted. Dusts were collected with PVC filters using gravimetric analysis. The concentration of PM2.5 and the particle size distribution were measured with real-time direct reading portable equipment using light scattering analysis. The concentration of BC was measured by aethalometer(filter-based real-time light absorption analysis instrument). Results: The geometric mean of respirable dust was the highest at vacuum cleaning as 74.4 ㎍/m3, following by replacing seat covers as 49.3 ㎍/m3 and cabin general cleaning as 47.8 ㎍/m3 . The arithmetic mean of PM2.5 was 4.83 ~ 9.89 ㎍/m3 inside the cabin, and 28.5~44.5 ㎍/m3 outside the cabin(from bus and outdoor waiting space). From size distribution, PM2.5/PM10 ratio was 0.54 at quick transit cleaning and 0.41 at replacing seat covers. The average concentration of BC was 2~7 ㎍/m3, showing a high correlation with the PM2.5 concentration. Conclusions: The hazards concentration levels of aircraft cabin cleaners were very similar to those of roadside outdoor workers. As the main source of pollution is estimated to be diesel vehicles operating at airports, and it is necessary to replace older vehicles, strengthen pollutant emission control regulations, and introduce electric vehicles. In addition, it is necessary to provide as part of airport-inftastructure a stable standby waiting space for aircraft cabin cleaners and introduce a systematic safety and health management system for all workers in the aviation industry.
