Currently, the CCDs are widely used in astronomical observations either in direct imaging use or spectroscopic mode. However according to the recent technical advances, new large format CCDs are rapidly developed which have better performances with higher quantum efficiency and sensitivity. In many cases, some microprocessors have been adopted to deal with necessary digital logic for a CCD imaging system. This could often lack the flexibility of a system for a user for to upgrade with new devices, especially if it is a commercial product. A new design concept has been explored which could provide the opportunity to deal with any format of devices from any manufactures effectively for as tronomical purposes. Recently available PLD (Programmable Logic Devices)technology makes it possible to develop such digital circuit design, which can be integrated into a single component, instead of using micrprocessors. The design concept could dramatically increase the efficiency and flexibility of a CCD imaging system, particularly when new or large format devices are available and to upgrade the performance of a system. Some variable system control parameters can be selected by a user with a wider range of choice. The software can support such functional requirements very conveniently. This approach can be applied not only to astronomical purpose, but also to some related fields, such as remote sensing and industrial applications.

Academic research libraries are seeking a long-term preservation plan for journals for cost-effective stewardship. The emergence of shared print archives has given the library community the opportunity to resolve the problem of the lack of library storage and build a collaborative long-term archiving plan for the print journals. The purpose of this study is to examine Western Regional Storage Trust(WEST), the largest print journal archiving program in North America, and identify their strategies for building a distributed, retrospective print repository service for journals. Based on the analysis, this article will discuss the development of new trends of collaborative library management in a digital age.

The advent of big data brings the opportunity to answer many open scientic questions but also presents some interesting challenges. Main features of contemporary datasets are the high dimensionality and massive sample size. In this paper, we give an overview of major challenges caused by these two features: (1) noise accumulation and spurious correlations in high dimensional data; (ii) computational scalability for massive data. We also provide applications of big data in various fields including forecast of disasters, digital humanities and sabermetrics.

Background: We conducted a systematic review of the literature to investigate the correlation between the interval to treatment and management of tendon avulsion ruptures in the musculotendinous junction (MTJ) of the forearm. Methods: A thorough literatures search for studies of tendon avulsion injuries at the forearm was conducted using PubMed, MEDLINE, CINAHL, and Cochrane databases in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines. In total, five case series and 15 case reports accounting for 87 injured tendons involving 60 patients were selected for the analysis. Results: Twenty-six patients had 44 tendon injuries associated with avulsion amputations, 31 patients had 38 tendon ruptures associated with closed avulsion injuries and three patients had five tendon ruptures associated with open avulsion injuries. Eighteen of the 49 (37%) patients were immediately treated for tendon ruptures and one of the 32 (3%) tendon ruptures treated via elective surgery was directly repaired. Additionally, 18 of the 30 (60%) tendons were directly repaired and 12 of the 30 (40%) tendons were transferred or side-to-side repaired in the immediately treated series. In contrast, one of the 28 (4%) tendon ruptures were directly repaired and 27 of the 28 (96%) tendons were transferred or side-to-side repaired in the electively treated series. Conclusion: In managing digital tendon avulsions at the MTJ, an immediate treatment could provide an opportunity to repair the ruptured tendon directly to the muscle.

In a series of research papers, the authors have studied some of the most important models of a contemporary universities, such as: the research university, the entrepreneurial university and the digital university and construct their Generalized Net (GN) models. This paper is based on the case-studies of Sofia University, the Technical University of Munich and the University of Edinburgh. The main focus is to put the analysis of the processes of the functioning of a university which effectively integrates Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in all university activities. A concrete example based on the process of course administration at University of Edinburgh is considered. This university is in a process of developing an integrated information system covering most of the university activities. The opportunity of using GNs as a tool for modeling such processes is analyzed as well.

With the recent increase in the number of cars and the lack of parking spaces, the number of parking businesses has increased. the parking management has become an essential element in parking business, and the parking management's company becomes an increasingly popular opportunity. However, as competition grows as more and more and companies increase in number, efforts are being made to create new services, gain technological excellence, or reduce costs through current system improvements. In this paper, we developed a parking management system using cloud based LPR(License Plate Recognition) service for effective parking. Structural improvements in the proposed system reduce costs, simplify installation, and respond quickly to failures and updates.

The rural tourism in Korea is expanding in scope including experience tours and integrating with dining industry these days. The Rural Development Administration in Korea has been supporting the farm restaurant project across the nation as part of its efforts to utilize local or rural food recipes as tourism resource for seven years. Over the years, however, case studies are rarely done or reported regarding physical environment of farm restaurants. This study offers an opportunity for farm restaurateurs and policy makers related to recognize the importance of developing brand identity and inner culture contents for the rural community by presenting a case of integrated design marketing. In the study, definitions of the "authentic food" in Korea and other countries are compared before farm restaurants at home and abroad are investigated. It also addresses the foundation on the significance of physical environment and design to build a brand identity of authentic food. The case presented is naming, designing and developing logos and design applicable to various product packages for "Hwanggeum Bori Aechan", which is the barley (main crop in Gimje)- dish development project for Gimje, North Jeolla Province in 2012.

A virtual reality is a virtual space constructed by a computer that provides users the opportunity to indirectly experience a situation they have not experienced in real life through the realization of information for virtual environments. Various studies have been conducted to realize virtual reality, in which the user interface is a major factor in maximizing the sense of immersion and usability. However, most existing methods have disadvantages, such as costliness or being limited to the physical activity of the user due to the use of special devices attached to the user's body. This paper proposes a new type of interface that enables the user to apply their intentions and actions to the virtual space directly without special devices, and test content is introduced using the new system. Users can interact with the virtual space by throwing an object in the space; to do this, moving object detectors are produced using infrared sensors. In addition, the users can control the virtual space with their own postures. The method can heighten interest and concentration, increasing the sense of reality and immersion and maximizing user's physical experiences.
