Implementation of a Switch-based LED Art Logic Circuit for Basic Digital Logic Circuit Practice (기초디지털논리회로 실습을 위한 스위치 기반 LED Art 논리 회로 구현)

  • In this paper, we introduce an implementation method of switch-based LED (Light Emitting Diode) Art logic circuits to help understanding the operation principle of digital logic circuits. Digital logic circuit practice using bread board is widely practiced in colleges or high schools in South Korea. However, actual digital logic circuit practice lacks examples of basic implementation, and as results of this problem, study with more complicated examples disturbs understanding the basic operation principle of digital logic circuits. Therefore, we proposed and tested an implementation method of switch-based LED Art logic circuits to help understanding the necessity of digital logic circuits which control signals of multiple output devices simultaneously.

  • In this paper, we developed an virtual lecture to study digital logic circuits. The contents is intended fer the students without or with little knowledge about electrics or electronics. For the beginners, the lecture contains the basic electronics and basic circuit theory as well as the degital logic circuits to be more practical lecture. And we developed the virtual circuit lab which uses real-like devices, circuits and interactive objects for the students to experience practical digital circuits. With the features described above, this contents would be useful for the beginners who want to studying digital logic circuits.

A Simplified Web-based Simulator for Digital Logic Circuits Using ActiveX Control (ActiveX 컨트롤을 이용한 단순화된 웹 기반 디지털 논리회로 시뮬레이터)

  • This paper presents a simplified web-based simulator for digital logic circuits with which several important principles related to digital logic circuits can be understood and confirmed. The proposed simulator is implemented to have several simplified functions which are essential to the learning process of digital logic circuits. The learners by themselves simulate several digital logic circuits on the web under specific input conditions and the design/analysis of digital logic circuits can be available. The proposed simulator, combined with multimedia contents, can be used as an auxiliary educational tool and enhance the improved learning efficiency. The results of this paper can be widely used to improve the efficiency of web-based educations in the cyber space. Several simulation results are illustrated as examples to show the validity of the proposed web-based simulator.

Development of the Internet-Based Educational Software Package for the Design and Virtual Experiment of the Digital Logic Circuits (디지탈 논리회로 설계 및 모의 실험 실습을 위한 인터넷 기반 교육용 소프트웨어 패키지 개발)

  • In this paper, we developed the internet-based educational software package (DVLab) for design and virtual experiment of the digital logic circuits. The DVLab consists of the LogicSim module for design and simulation of digital combinational/sequantial logic circuits, micro-controller application circuits and the BreadBoard module for virtual experiment and the Theory module for lecture and the Report/ReportChecker module and some other utility modules. All developed modules can be run as application programs as well as applets in the Internet. The LogicSim and the BreadBoard support real time clock function, output verification function on the designed circuits, trace function of logic values, copy-protection function of designed circuits and provide various devices including logic gates, TTLs, LED, buzzer, and micro-controller. The educational model of digital logic circuit design and experiment using the DVLab is also presented in this paper.

  • In this paper, we proposed a method for digital logic circuit control, through arduino device programming with digital outputs, to design a curriculum for basic digital logic circuit practices. Curricula for arduino device programming and digital logic circuit are essentially practiced in engineering departments of colleges or high schools in South Korea. However, actual practice course lacks the experimental examples of digital logic circuit combined with arduino device programming. Furthermore, actual practice course lacks the curriculum in that students design and test their own digital logic circuits with the less cost than the oscilloscope. Therefore, to solve these problems in this paper, we proposed a curriculum for basic digital logic circuit practices during one semester. In this curriculum, students control and experiment their own digital logic circuits through arduino device programming with digital outputs.

Development of RSFQ Logic Circuits and Delay Time Considerations in Circuit Design (RSFQ 논리회로의 개발과 회로설계에 대한 지연시간 고려)

  • Due to high speed operations and ultra low power consumptions RSFQ logic circuit is a very good candidate for future electronic device. The focus of the RSFQ circuit development has been on the advancement of analog-to-digital converters and microprocessors. Recent works on RSFQ ALU development showed the successful operation of an 1-bit block of ALU at 40 GHz. Recently, the study of an RSFQ analog-to-digital converter has been extended to the development of a single chip RF digital receiver. Compared to the voltage logic circuits, RSFQ circuits operate based on the pulse logic. This naturally leads the circuit structure of RSFQ circuit to be pipelined. Delay time on each pipelined stage determines the ultimate operating speed of the circuit. In simulations, a two junction Josephson transmission line's delay time was about 10 ps, a splitter's 14.5 ps, a switch's 13 ps, a half adder's 67 ps. Optimization of the 4-bit ALU circuit has been made with delay time consideration to operate comfortably at 10 GHz or above.

  • In this paper, we proposed an Electric Circuit manipulation method to identify easily results of Digital Logic Circuits. Using this method for computer science educations, we can feasibly instruct and understand principles of a Digital Logic Circuit which is a basis of real Digital systems. Furthermore, we developed an PBL-based education program for Digital Logic Circuit concept and Boolean Algebra concept by applying the proposed Electric Circuit manipulation method and by explaining real life Digital Instrument examples. The experimental results are analyzed in views of the problem-solving ability and suitability of allocating degrees of difficulties to the developed Digital Logic Circuit problems.

  • In this paper, PDP driving circuit is designed to show the pattern of still-image with ADS (Address Display Separation) driving method. The designed circuits consist of three stages which are the image processing program, digital logic parts, and power circuits. The Image processing program is designed serial-communication with RS-232C using BASIC language. Digital logic parts design ADS driving signals with Xilinx FPGA and are simulated by ModelSim 5.5f. Power circuits convert output of digital logic parts into high voltage which panel is drived.

  • In this paper, digital corrction and calibration circuit for a high-resolution CMOS pipelined A/D converter are proposed. The circuits were actually applied to a 12 -bit 4-stage pipelined A/D converter which was implemented in a 0.8${\mu}$m p-well CMOS process. The proposed digital correction logic is based on optimum multiplexer and two nonoverlapping clock phases resulting in a small die area snd a modular pipelined architecture. The propsoed digital calibration logic which consists of calibration control logic, error averaging logic, and memory can effectively perform self-calibration with little modifying analog functional bolcks of a conventional pipelined A/D conveter.
