An innovative in-core neutron flux mapping system has been developed and applied successfully for service in a commercial pressurized water reactor. With the benefit of double indexing path selector (Dip $s^{ⓡ}$) mechanism, the reliability of the detector drive system has been improved five times higher than that of conventional systems, and the problems caused by the serious friction generated between the detector cable and guide tubing has been solved completely because the Dip $s^{ⓡ}$ architecture allows the detector guide tubings to have larger curvature and shorter length in nature. The simple and fast maintenance is particularly emphasized in the detector drive system to secure minimum radiation exposure to the maintenance personnel by optimizing the number of components and providing easy access to the components. The programmable logic controller based digital controller with Window $s^{ⓡ}$ based operator s console provides fully automated and user friendly operation and maintenance support means.
This paper presents a design of Programmable logic Controllers which are well known for a long time that can be applied to be a controller for an automatic machine in industries. However, most of them have been imported from oversea country. This research focuses on the development of PLC by KMITL staff. This PLC system is consists of CPU unit, Digital I/O RTU unit, ANALOG RTU unit. The implementation of the CPU scan time and I/O refresh are principle to PLC. In this article, there are many benefits to industries especially in order to support SME that can use local technology. Therefore, we can apply this research to the manufacturing process in Thailand for the future.

Because of the development of digital technology, modern digital instrumentation & control systems are being innovativly developed in industrial plants. Whereas, many analog systems are still being used in nuclear plants, because of the demerits of digital equipment. As known, the demerits of digital equipment are the uncertainty and weaknesses in ambient environments such as smoke & electromagnetic interference In an Integral Reactor, a digital I&C system will be composed of microprocessor, memory and network card. Designers will apply new technique for digital equipment. Thus, it is important for digital I&C systems to operate according to designed functions & performance in the ambient environments during a life cycle. Digital I&C systems should have tolerance in such environments and environment qualification should be concluded To acquire electromagnetic interference qualification of digital equipment, this paper suggests an EMI test requirement. Designers should consider the electromagnetic compatibility and test digital equipment according to each test procedure. This paper involves an EMI test requirement and the results analysis of EUT(Equipment Under Test). Test result analysis will be used as electromagnetic compatibility design guides for Integral Reactor I&C systems.

Nuclear Power Plant Instrumentation and Control System(NPP I&C) which is used to operate safely is changing from analog technology to digital technology. Ever since NPP Centrifuge of Iran Bushehr was shut down by Stuxnet attack in 2010, the possibility of cyber attacks against the NPP has been increasing. However, the domestic and international regulatory guidelines that was published to strengthen the cyber security of the NPP I&C describes security requirements and method s to establish policies and procedures. These guidelines are not appropriate for the development of real applicable cyber security technology. Therefore, specialized cyber security technologies for the NPP I&C need to be developed to enhance the security of nuclear power plants. This paper proposes a cyber security technology development system which is exclusively for the development of nuclear technology. Furthermore, this method has been applied to the ESF-CCS developed by The KINCS R&D project.

To Increase availability and to enhance the safety, the modernization of Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems is considered. The extended use of the digital technology lets nuclear power plants(NPPs) to replace their old analog systems with some proven digital systems. To adapt digital equipment to plants effectively and systematically, however, there must be an essential prerequisite, which is to evaluate current I&C equipment. This paper shows a practical methodology to evaluate the current status and reliability of I&C systems of NPPs using Reliability Evaluation System(RES) before performing upgrades or replacements for systems. The proposed method was applied to KORI Unit 2. The proposed method shows the current status of operating I&C systems effectively for upgrading I&C systems.
This paper describes a new method for a digital gas metal arc welding (GMAW) system. The GMAW system is an arc welding process that incorporates the GMAW power source (PS-GMAW) with a wire feed unit (WFU). The PS-GMAW requires an electric power of constant voltage. A constant magnitude is maintained for the arc current by controlling the wire-feed speed of the WFU. A mathematical model is derived, and a self-tuning fuzzy proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller is designed and applied to control the welding current. The electrode wire feeding mechanism with this controller is driven by a DC motor, which can compensate for both the molten part of the electrode and undesirable fluctuations in the arc length during the welding process. By accurately maintaining the output welding current and welding voltage at constant values during the welding process, excellent welding results can be obtained. Simulation and experimental results are shown to prove the effectiveness of the proposed controller.
Digital redesign techniques are to derive a digital controller fred the existing continuous controller and its plant so that the performance of the digitally controlled system is matched as closely as possible to that of the original continuous system at the sampling instants. Recently a new digital redesign technique, was developed to use the generalized sampled-data hold function(GSHF) based on the the grammian matrix. With this new technique the digitally redesigned system showed several good features compared with any existing technique in terms of the state match at the sampling instants, the large sampling period, and the transient reponses. This paper concerns a further improvement of the new digital redesign technique by employing the discrete grammian matrix instead of the continuous grammian matrix in defining GSHF. With this modification, it was observed by simulation that the transient response of the modified digital system shows far better performance than the digital system based on the continuous grammian matrix.
Practical controllers of industrial systems are usually designed and realized in continuous time domain. However, due to the programmable and flexible nature of digital computers and the speed and stability superioity of digital components over analog ones, it seems more effective to adapt digital controllers. When an existing analog controller performs satisfactory, it is often advantageous to use the digital redesign techinque to obtain an equlivalent digital controller which substitutes the analog one. One method of the digital redesign is to use a periodic gain. This method gives a riffle effect on the steady state response, although it's transient response is satisfactory. This paper suggests a method which eliminates or deminishes periodic ripples generated by the periodic function.

Stroke patients can't use their hands because of the paralysis of their fingers. Their fingers are recovered by rehabilitating training, and the rehabilitating extent can be judged by grasping a spherical object. At present, the used object in hospital is only a spherical object, and can't measure the force of fingers. Therefore, doctors judge the rehabilitating extent by touching and watching at their fingers. So, the spherical object measuring system which can measure the force of their fingers should be developed. In this paper, the finger-force measuring system with a six-axis force/moment sensor which can measure the spherical-object grasping force is developed. The six-axis force/moment sensor was designed and fabricated, and the force measuring device was designed and manufactured using DSP (digital signal processing). Also, the grasping force test of men was performed using the developed finger-force measuring system, it was confirmed that the average force of men was about 120N.
