  • In the present study, heat transfer characteristics of oil flow over offset strip fins were predicted by the numerical methods. Oil flow in the plate-fin passage was idealized by 2 dimension. Power law scheme and SIMPLE algorithm were used for convective diffusion formulation and pressure term respectively. Governing equations were discretized by control volume formulation. The flow patterns and heat transfer were predicted in details. The convective heat transfer coefficients were affected by separation bubbles which appeared at the wake region of offset strip fins.

  • Energy distribution function for electrons in $SF_6$-Ar mixtures gas used by MCS-BEq algorithm has been analysed over the E/N range $30{\sim}300$[Td] by a two term Boltzmann equation and by a Monte Carlo Simulation using a set of electron cross sections determined by other authors, experimentally the electron swarm parameters for 0.2[%] and 0.5[%] $SF_6$-Ar mixtures were measured by time-of-flight (TOF) method. The results show that the deduced electron drift velocities, the electron ionization or attachment coefficients, longitudinal and transverse diffusion coefficients and mean energy agree reasonably well with theoretical for a rang of E/N values.

  • Reservoir type devices were designed for long-term implantable drug delivery system. The reservoir type device was prepared with the polymethacrylic acid gel coated with polyurethane membrane. Release controlling agent (RCA) were employed to control drug release from devices via generation of micropores in the membranes. The polyurethane membrane functioned as a rate controlling barrier. The drug release pattern of hydrogel demonstrated zero order kinetics. The release rate of drugs could be regulated by varying hydrophobicity/hydrophilicity and content of the RCA, as well as the thickness of the polyurethane membrane. The release of drugs from this system was governed by pore mechanism via simple diffusion and osmotic pressure.

  • Matrix type silicone rubber devices were designed for long-term implantable drug delivery system. Release controlling agents (RCA), i.e., polypropylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, were employed to control drug release from the devices. The release rate of drug from RCA dispersed silicone matrices was mainly dependent on hydrophilicity-hydrophobicity of drug and RCA. In the case of hydrophilic drug, the release from the RCA dispersed matrix was regulated by swelling kinetics. Especially when the relatively hydrophobic polypropylene glycol was used, swelling control mechanism induced zero-order release kinetics. Whereas, the release of hydrophobic drug was resulted from partition mechanism. The effect of RCA was to increase drug diffusivity.

  • In this paper we consider a class of nonlinear nonlocal parabolic equations involving p-Laplacian operator where the nonlocal quantity is present in the diffusion coefficient which depends on $L^p$-norm of the gradient and the nonlinear term is of polynomial type. We first prove the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions by combining the compactness method and the monotonicity method. Then we study the existence of global attractors in various spaces for the continuous semigroup generated by the problem. Finally, we investigate the existence and exponential stability of weak stationary solutions to the problem.

  • Where government communication in the early 20th century fell under the umbrella term, "propaganda," the post-WWII era saw a paradigm fracture into public affairs for domestic audiences, public diplomacy for foreign audiences, and psychological operations for hostile audiences. The continued diffusion of the Internet, however, has blurred such distinctions, mending this fractured paradigm. Based on in-depth interviews, this study typologizes government communication to contextualize how various tactics functions within the 21st century digital media ecology, through an "Information Intervention" taxonomy. In an age where state-sponsored disinformation and computational propaganda are tantamount threats, this paper elucidates the field's fundamental concepts by articulating who communicates with what audience, in what manner, with what intent, and with what desired outcomes.

  • Foreign exchange options are derivative financial instruments that can exchange one currency for another at a prescribed exchange rate on a specified date. In this study, we examine the analytic formulas for vulnerable foreign exchange options based on multi-scale stochastic volatility driven by two diffusion processes: a fast mean-reverting process and a slow mean-reverting process. In particular, we take advantage of the asymptotic analysis and the technique of the Mellin transform on the partial differential equation (PDE) with respect to the option price, to derive approximated prices that are combined with a leading order price and two correction term prices. To verify the price accuracy of the approximated solutions, we utilize the Monte Carlo method. Furthermore, in the numerical experiments, we investigate the behaviors of the vulnerable foreign exchange options prices in terms of model parameters and the sensitivities of the stochastic volatility factors to the option price.
