어린이집 운영상 어려움의 예측 요인 탐색: 원장보고를 중심으로 (Exploring Predictors Affecting Difficulties in Operating Childcare Centers: Focusing on Directors' Reports)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between structural and process difficulties experienced by childcare center directors in operating childcare centers and to explore characteristics of childcare centers that affect the path. Methods: The participants were 309 childcare center directors, and data were collected through a mobile survey method. Descriptive statistics and SEM were implemented using SPSS and AMOS. Results: Unsupported childcare centers and capacity aggravated structural difficulties in operation of childcare centers, while the number of enrolled children and the enrollment rate reduced such difficulties that were reported by directors. In the case of labor cost supported centers and childcare centers with a high enrollment rate reported a high level of process difficulties. Because the effect of structural difficulties on process difficulties were significant, the indirect influences of structural difficulties that mediated the influences of general background characteristics on process difficulties were also significant. Conclusion/Implications: This study shows that difficulties in operating childcare centers could be considered in terms of structure and process aspects. This study is also meaningful in that it suggests that the characteristics of individual childcare centers should be emphasized in a customized way to alleviate such difficulties.

Exploring Communication Difficulties in Pediatric Hematology: Oncology Nurses

  • Background: Communication plays an important role for the well being of patients, families and also health care professionals in cancer care. Conversely, ineffective communication may cause depression, increased anxiety, hopelessness and decreased of quality life for patients, families and also nurses. Objective: This study aimed to explore communication difficulties of pediatric hematology/oncology nurses with patients and their families, as well as their suggestions about communication difficulties. Materials and Methods: It was conducted in a pediatric hematology/oncology hospital in Ankara, Turkey. Qualitative data were collected by focus groups, with 21 pediatric hematology/oncology nursing staff from three groups. Content analysis was used for data analysis. Results: Findings were grouped in three main categories. The first category concerned communication difficulties, assessing problems in responding to questions, ineffective communication and conflicts with the patient's families. The second was about the effects of communication difficulties on nurses and the last main category involved suggestions for empowering nurses with communication difficulties, the theme being related to institutional issues. Conclusions: Nurses experience communication difficulties with children and their families during long hospital stays. Communication difficulties particularly increase during crisis periods, like at the time of first diagnosis, relapse, the terminal stage or on days with special meaning such as holidays. The results obtained indicate that pediatric nurses and the child/family need to be supported, especially during crisis periods. Feeling of empowerment in communication will improve the quality of care by reducing the feelings of exhaustion and incompetence in nurses.

과학영재교육에서 교사들이 겪는 어려움 (Difficulties Experienced by Teachers in Science Gifted Education)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the difficulties experienced by teachers in science gifted education. To fulfill the purpose of this study, 80 science teachers that taught gifted students were requested to write an anecdotal report regarding gifted education and presented 215 difficulties. By means of inductive categorical analysis, these difficulties were grouped into several categories. The results were as follows: The difficulties experienced by teachers in science gifted education fell into three categories: 'difficulties relating to environment (23.7%)', 'difficulties relating to students(16.7%)', 'difficulties relating to teachers(59.5%)'. Most serious difficulty was 'insufficient educational program'. and many teachers felt difficulty in developing the educational materials. Additionally, we discussed some features of each categories of difficulties.

어린 시절 부-자녀관계가 대인관계문제에 미치는 영향 : 대상적 자기손상과 정서조절곤란의 매개효과 (The effect of child, adolescent period's father-child relationship on interpersonal problems among married women : The mediating role of impaired objective self and emotional regulation difficulties)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to examine the process of how a parent-child relationship affects an impaired objective self, emotional regulation difficulties, and, consequently, interpersonal problems. Methods: To carry out this study, a total of 467 married women were surveyed on their parent-child relationship, impaired objective self, and emotional regulation difficulties. The resulting data was interpreted using descriptive statistics analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation models analysis. Results: First, the parent-child relationship shows negative correlations with an impaired objective self, emotional regulation difficulties, and interpersonal problems. In addition, an impaired objective self, emotional regulation difficulties, and interpersonal problems show positive correlations with one another. Second, an impaired objective self and emotional regulation difficulties mediate the parent-child relationship and intrapersonal problems consecutively. Conclusions: This indicates that efforts to mitigate an impaired objective self and to intervene in difficulties in emotional regulation can help address intrapersonal difficulties. Finally, this paper examines how this study affects the ongoing discussion on this matter and its implications for future studies.

유아교사의 창의성 수업 어려움 분석 (Early Childhood Teachers' Difficulties in Creativity Education)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate early childhood teachers' difficulties in creativity education. The subjects of this study were 10 early childhood teachers. Data were collected from reflective journals and in depth interviews. The results were as follows: First, the difficulties fall into two categories; inter and outer difficulties. Second, inter difficulties were teachers' misunderstanding of creativity. Third, outer difficulties were parent's demand for prerequisite learning, kindergarten director's goals of education, insufficient pre-service teacher education, and a lack of support to teachers.

공과대학생의 진로결정 어려움과 정서·성격적 진로문제 분석 (Analysis of Career Decision Difficulties and Emotional and Personality Career Difficulties of College Students Majoring in the Engineering)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of college students majoring in the engineering on career decision difficulties and emotional and personality career difficulties. Data is consisted of 430 college students. We tested the research question by employing the PSM and the multi-regression model. The result showed that college students majoring in the engineering have difficulties in the information about self, the lack of information, and the outside control on career decision more than others. We suggested that career education and counseling of understanding themselves such as interesting, aptitude, and occupational value should be provided for students majoring in the engineering.

  • 본 연구에서는 중학교 3학년 수학학습부진아가 함수 분야에서 나타나는 어려움과 이에 대한 지도방안에 대해 알아보고자 하는 목적으로 좀 더 심층적인 학습 부진 요인을 알아보기 위해 설문지, 인터뷰, 녹음과 관찰 등을 통한 사례연구를 하였다. 그 결과 수학학습부진아는 일반 학생들이 겪고 있는 어려움과 유사한 어려움을 겪고 있었다. 다음으로 수학학습부진아는 일반 학생들이 겪고 있는 어려움과 차이를 보이는 어려움으로 문제를 이해하는 데 어려움, 선수 학습 결손으로 인한 어려움, 형식화하여 답을 찾으려고 하는 어려움, 대수 기호의 구분을 정확히 하지 못함으로써 겪는 어려움 그리고 두 점을 지나는 직선의 기울기를 구하는데 있어 어려움을 겪는 것으로 나타났다.

농촌지역 조부모-손자녀 가정 유아의 양육에 대한 조부모의 어려움 (Grandparents' Difficulties in Rearing Grandchildren in South Jeolla Rural Areas)

  • This study purposed to survey grandparents' difficulties in parenting their grand children at grandparent-grandchild households in South Jeolla rural areas. This study was conducted through in-depth interviews from January to October, 2008. The subjects were eight grandparents living with their grandchildren in Boseong-gun, Gangjin-gun, Yeonggwang-gun, Hampyeong-gun, Haenam-gun and Damyang-gun in South Jeolla province. The results are as follows: the grandparents' difficulties in parenting grandchildren are divided into four categories of variable factors: 'Difficulties related to grandparents themselves'; 'Difficulties related to their grandchildren'; 'Difficulties related to early childhood education institution: and 'Difficulties related to their grandchildren's peer group or surrounding people'. The main difficulties in these categories are 'poor, aging and weak conditions of grandparents: 'conflicts in their parenting attitude to have compassion on grandchildren: 'grandparents' not enough educational support to grandchildren due to their ignorance about today's education system: and 'anxiety about the possibility for their grandchildren to be abandoned once again.' These results can be used as a piece of basic information for desirable supports to grandparent-grandchild households.

보육교사가 지각하는 학부모와 의사소통의 어려움이 영유아와 상호작용에 미치는 영향: 보육교사의 자아존중감의 매개효과 (Child Care Teachers' Difficulties Communicating with Parents and How It Affects Teacher-Child Interactions: The Mediating Effects of Teachers' Self-Esteem)

  • Objective: This study examined the mediating effects of child care teachers' self-esteem in the relationship between teachers' difficulties communicating with parents and teacher-child interactions. Methods: A total of 450 child care teachers answered questionnaires based on three research variables. Data were analyzed using SEM. Results: First, child care teachers' difficulties communicating with parents had a direct effect on teacher-child interactions. That is, child care teachers who experienced more difficulties communicating with parents showed more negative teacher-child interactions. Second, child care teachers' difficulties communicating with parents had an indirect effect on teacher-child interactions through teachers' self-esteem. In other words, when child care teachers experienced more difficulties communicating with parents, their self-esteem was lower, which led to increased negative teacher-child interactions. Conclusion/Implications: This study highlights the importance of effective communication between child care teachers and parents. In addition, these findings contribute to a better understanding of the mechanism by which child care teachers' difficulties communicating with parents influence teacher-child interactions.

대학생의 취업이행 과정의 어려움에 관한 잠재유형과 정신적 안녕감과의 관계 (An Association between the Latent Profiles of the Difficulties Associated with School- to-Work Transitions and Mental Well-Being among University Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify: (a) the latent profiles of the difficulties associated with the schoolto-work transition (decline in confidence, mood swings, family disagreements, the burdens of familial expectations, economic hardship, and a lack of support) made by university students, (b) predictors (gender, age, grade, university location, co-residence with parents on weekdays, monthly household income, and parental educational attainment) of these profiles, and (c) how the profiles were associated with mental wellbeing. The participants of this study were 311 senior or above students (164 males and 147 females) under the age of 29, who were unmarried and preparing for employment. The findings of this study were as follows. First, the latent profile analysis revealed three distinct profiles: the "low overall difficulties" type (25.4%), the "moderate overall difficulties" type (49.9%), and the "high overall difficulties" type (24.7%). Second, the factors that predicted each profile included gender, age, co-residence with parents on weekdays, monthly household income, and parental educational attainment. Third, the "low overall difficulties" type demonstrated the highest level of mental well-being (emotional, social, and psychological well-being). This study was significant for examining the latent profiles of the difficulties associated with the school-to-work transition made by university students preparing for employment, while also exploring their mental well-being. Based on the results of this study, practical implications, limitations, and suggestions for further study were discussed.
