VHDL을 이용한 향상된 기능을 가지는 모터 제어용 주변장치의 통합 설계 (Design of the Unified Peripheral Device with Advanced Functions for Motor Control using VHDL)

  • For the convenient use of high performance microprocessor in motor control, peripheral devices are needed for converting its control signals to compatible ones for motor drive. Customized devices are not plentiful far these purposes and their functions do not usually satisfied designers specification. The designers used to implement these functions on FPGA or CPLD using hardware description language. Then, in this case unessential programs are needed for control the peripherals. In this paper, a unified device model that links peripheral devices, including especially the pulse width modulation controller and the quadrature encoder interface device, to an interrupt controller is proposed. Advanced functions of peripherals could be achieved by this model and unessential programs can be simplified. Block diagrams and flowcharts are presented to illustrate the advanced functions. This unified device was designed using VHDL. The simulation results were presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

IP-based UPnP Control of Network-enabled IEEE 1394 Devices

  • There are lots of wired and wireless home network technologies these days. However, an effective middleware is needed to control devices in home regardless oj any kinds of home network technologies applied. We can integrally and simply control all the home appliances using the architecture that leverages TCP/IP and Web technologies, which is like UPnP control technology. In this paper, UPnP technology and IEEE 1394 technology are introduced., and also UPnP over 1394 is issued. Some results from the implementation show that it is possible to control IEEE 1394 devices using the IP-based UPnP technology instead of just using a direct AV/C command set.   • 최근 유 무선 홈 네트워크를 위한 다양한 기술들이 개발되고 있는데, 이러한 기술들을 수용하여 가정내 유무선 정보가전기들을 인터넷을 통해서도 통합제어 가능한 효율적인 미들웨어를 필요로 한다. UPnP(Universal Plug and Play)는 기본적으로 표준 TCP/IP 프로토콜에 근거하여 PnP(Pulg and Play)개념을 네트워킹에 확장한 것이다. 지능형 가전, 무선기기 및 모든 종류의 PC들을 연결하기 위한 파급력이 있는 P2P(Peer to Peer) 네트워크 연결 구조를 지닌다. UPnP는 TCP/IP를 기본으로 하여 가정내 정보가전들을 통합제어 하기위한 홈 네트워크 미들웨어로 제시되어 상용화 되고 있지만 그 한계가 내부 네트워크에 국한되고 기능의 한계와 다른 기기들을 제어하기가 힘들다. 본 논문에서는 인터넷 홈 네트워크 가전 제어를 위해 UPnP를 확장하여 인터넷 게이트웨이를 통하여 인터넷망을 통하여 서로간의 모든 기능 및 컨트롤이 가능한 시스템 구축을 연구한다.

Real-time large-scale hybrid testing for seismic performance evaluation of smart structures

  • Numerous devices exist for reducing or eliminating seismic damage to structures. These include passive dampers, semi-active dampers, and active control devices. The performance of structural systems with these devices has often been evaluated using numerical simulations. Experiments on structural systems with these devices, particularly at large-scale, are lacking. This paper describes a real-time hybrid testing facility that has been developed at the Lehigh University NEES Equipment Site. The facility enables real-time large-scale experiments to be performed on structural systems with rate-dependent devices, thereby permitting a more complete evaluation of the seismic performance of the devices and their effectiveness in seismic hazard reduction. The hardware and integrated control architecture for hybrid testing developed at the facility are presented. An application involving the use of passive elastomeric dampers in a three story moment resisting frame subjected to earthquake ground motions is presented. The experiment focused on a test structure consisting of the damper and diagonal bracing, which was coupled to a nonlinear analytical model of the remaining part of the structure (i.e., the moment resisting frame). A tracking indictor is used to track the actuator ability to achieve the command displacement during a test, enabling the quality of the test results to be assessed. An extension of the testbed to the real-time hybrid testing of smart structures with semi-active dampers is described.

Bang-Bang 형태의 제어기를 갖는 복합제어 (Hybrid Control with a Bang-Bang Type Controller)

  • This paper presents a hybrid (i.e., integrated passive-active) system for seismic response control of a cable-stayed bridge. Because multiple control devices are operating, a hybrid control system could alleviate some of the restrictions and limitations that exist when each system is acting alone. Lead rubber bearings are used as passive control devices to reduce the earthquake-induced forces in the bridge and hydraulic actuators are used as active control devices to further reduce the bridge responses, especially deck displacements. In the proposed hybrid control system, a linear quadratic Gaussian control algorithm is adopted as a primary controller. In addition, a secondary bang-bang type (i.e., on-off type) controller according to the responses of lead rubber bearings is considered to increase the controller robustness. Numerical simulation results show that control performances of the hybrid control system are superior to those of the passive control system and slightly better than those of the fully active control system. Furthermore, it is verified that the hybrid control system with a bang-bang type controller is more robust for stiffness perturbation than the active controller with μ-synthesis method and there are no signs of instability in the overall system whereas the active control system with linear quadratic Gaussian algorithm shows instabilities in the perturbed system. Therefore, the proposed hybrid protective system could effectively be used to seismically excited cable-stayed bridges.

홈 네트워킹 제어 미들웨어인 UPnP를 이용한 Control Point 및 내장형 시스템 상에서의 DTV와 전등 제어기 에뮬레이터 구현 (Implementation of Control Point, Digital TV, and Light Controller Emulator on Embedded System Using UPnP Home Networking Control Middleware)

  • 본 논문에서는 인텔사(社)의 UPnP SDK vl.0을 임베디드 리눅스 시스템 개발 보드인 아사벳(assabet)보드에 포팅하고, UPnP SDK 패키지에서 제공하는 API를 이용하여 리눅스 PC에서 동작하는 UPnP Control Point와 임베디드 리눅스 시스템에서 동작하는 디지털 TV 에뮬레이터, 그리고 전등 제어기를 C언어로 구현하였다. 디지털 TV의 기능을 분석하여 UPnP서비스로 설계하고, 이를 UPnP 디바이스 프로그램에 적용하였다. 본 논문에서 사용한 UPnP SDK vl.04는 UPnP 홈 네트워킹 제어 미들웨어의 핵심 프로토콜 인 HTTP와 SSDP(Simple Service Discovery Protocol), SOAP(Simple Object Access Protocol), GENA(General Event Notification Architecture), 그리고, XML DOM Level-1을 리눅스에서 지원하기 위한 API 들로 들로 구성되어 있다. 본 논문에서 작성한 Control Point 프로그램은 리눅스 PC에서 실행시키고, 디지털 TV 에뮬레이터 프로그램과 전등제어기 프로그램은 임베디드 리눅스 보드에서 실행하였다. 실행된 Control Point는 네트워크에 연결된 디바이스들을 찾아 그 리스트를 콘솔에 출력하고, 디바이스가 제공하는 서비스를 콘솔입력으로 선택하여 실행시킨다. 본 논문에서 작성한 디바이스와 Control Point 프로그램이 UPnP의 핵심 기능들을 완벽하게 지원하는 것을 실험을 통해 확인하였다.

  • This paper deals with the design scheme of the custom control circuit for optimizing the interface of peripheral devices to general-purpose controllers for the high speed digital system. When the various peripheral devices such as memory, I/O devices and buffers which operate at low speed are interfaced to the microprocessor which operates at high speed, inserting the proper wait state to the processor is required. The proposed scheme designed with random logic may be applied to the high performance graphic system like the X-terminal. This circuit provides the flexibility and system independancy for the optimum digital system design.

  • Organic materials have been considered for the fabrication of practical electroluminescent(EL) devices because a large number of organic materials are known to have extremely high fluorescence quantum efficiencies in the visible spectrum. In this study, electroluminescent devices are constructed using novel organic materials PRL-401, PRL-403 as the emitting elements. The devices have a triple-layer structure of organic thin films, prepared by vacuum vapor deposition. Greenish yellow electroluminescent emission is observed. The maximum luminances are over 1000 $cd/m^2$ and the turn-on voltages are about 13 V.

  • The implementation of home network systems In ubiquitous computing environments requires middleware that provides a method to control and operate home appliance devices. The Universal Plug and Play (UPnP), which is based on the IPv4 protocol and running on a PC, consists of UPnP devices that provide relevant services and control points that control the devices. However, It is inappropriate to Implement UPnP devices on a PC, since the implementation on a PC requires much space and electrical power. In this paper, a small embedded home network device equipped with UPnP middleware is implemented on an embedded GNU/Linux system running on an ARM9 platform, in order to deal with such problems.

광고를 통해 본 일제강점기 치과 장비 및 기구 광고에 관한 연구 (The study on advertisement of dental devices & instrument during Japanese colonized period)

  • This article is purposed of reviewing the development history of Japanese dental devices and instrument, and their related advertisement activities during the Japanese colonized period in Korea in early 20th century. Japanese dental devices and instrument were redesigned to accommodate their ergonomic shape above the simple imitation, and it implies the excessive desires brought them frustrations. The tragic earthquake on Sep. l, 1923, medical insurance law enforcement on Jan. 1, 1927, celebration of "Cavity prevention Day" started on Jun. 4, 1928, and the attack of Manchuria and China by Japan after 1931, all of these historical incidents become the preliminary requirement for the development of dental devices. On Nov. 1, 1937, Japanese government started to control dental materials, driving the campaigns for excluding foreign products and encourging the use of local products. In 1939, Nakajima dental manufacturers used this political and social atmosphere on their advertisement as saying "Our Nakajima's products have no compromise with the short raw materials, but only commitment to our quality". Since after 1940, the price and supply have been strongly under control, and the control group was appeared to manage all of supply and distribution of raw materials, regular price system, and specifications. At last, the Japanese national power were devastated in its production and distribution capacities, and get to the frustrated period. The main advertised dental devices and instruments in Korea during the Japanese colonized period were 1) dental chair, unit and cabinet, 2) dental x-ray, 3) compressors, 4) dental needles, 5) small instrument and carryon medical(emergency) kit, 6) oral hygiene and pyorrhea alveolaris, infrared rays, sunlight lamp, ultrashort wave treatment devices, 7)crown former, electric furnace, casting machine, articulator, electric lathe, and laboratory equipments, etc.
