Application of the IoT Concept in the Field of Medical Devices: Development of a Prototype of a Mechanotherapeutic Simulator and Software for Its Control

  • The article discusses the application of the IoT concept in the sensitive field of medical devices on the example of a developed prototype of a mechanotherapeutic simulator. Mechanotherapy is a complex of therapeutic, preventive, and restorative exercises conducted using simulators, specially designed for developing movements in individual joints. Mechanotherapy is used for the early and painless restoration of joint mobility, to prevent complications associated with prolonged immobilization of the injured area of extremities. Using the mechanotherapy simulator allows developing the joint painlessly, which accelerates the metabolism in the injured area, and soft tissues are restored to normal. The article provides information about the electronic components that ensure the wireless operation of the device and describes in detail the applied software as well as the client application for a mobile device.

  • In short channel MOSFET, it is very important to establish optimal process conditions because of variation of device characteristics due to the process parameters. In this paper, we used process simulator and device characteristics caused by process parameter variation. From this simulation, it has been ' derived to the dependence relations between process parameters and device characteristics. The experimental result of fabricated short channel device according to the optimal process parameters demonstrate good device characteristics.

  • In high-voltage devices such as thyristor, beveling is mostly used junction termination method to reduce the surface electric field far below the bulk electric field and to expand the depletion region thus that breakdown occurs in the bulk of the device rather than at the surface. However, coating material used to protect the surface of the device contain so many charges which affect the electrical characteristics of the device. And device reliability is also affected by this charge. Therefore, it is needed to analyze the effect of surface charge on electrical characteristics of the device. In this paper, we analyzed the breakdown voltage and leakage current characteristics of the thyristor as a function of the amount of surface charge density. Two dimensional process simulator ATHENA and two-dimensional device simulator ATLAS is used to analyze the surface charge effects.

  • A vehicle driving simulator is a virtual reality device which makes a human being feel as if the one drives a vehicle actually. The driving simulator is effectively used for studying interaction of a driver-vehicle and developing the vehicle system of new concepts. The driving simulator consists of a motion platform, a motion controller, a visual and audio system, a vehicle dynamic analysis system, a vehicle operation system and etc. The vehicle dynamic analysis system supervises overall operation of the simulator and also simulates dynamic motion of a multi-body vehicle model in real-time. In this paper, the main procedures to develop the driving simulator are classified by 4 parts.   • In this paper, electrical power subsystem(EPS) simulator for KOMPSAT 2 has been analyzed designed and simulated by object oriented design(OOP) method. To design EPS simulator, the EPS modules, which modeled solar array, solar array regulator, deployment device controller, battery, power control unit, and EPS control unit, are modeled. To verify the EPS simulator, the modules has been simulated. By OOP designs, the EPS simulator is very powerful because this method is applicable to design other EPS simulator.

  • This paper describes the methodology of connecting MASTER (Multi-purpose Analyzer for Static and Transient Effects of Reactors) to simulator system, system configuration, and previous test. The actual simulator environment for Youngkwang Unit1 has been developed. It is impossible for the simulator server to execute MASTER code by limitation of computer performance. So, environment of distributed system was developed, and it had a synchronization task. As MASTER and simulator module should be synchronized in different device, the connection of communication was tested and verified.

Scaling Down Characteristics of Vertical Channel Phase Change Random Access Memory (VPCRAM)

  • In this paper, scaling down characteristics of vertical channel phase random access memory are investigated with device simulator and finite element analysis simulator. Electrical properties of select transistor are obtained by device simulator and those of phase change material are obtained by finite element analysis simulator. From the fusion of both data, scaling properties of vertical channel phase change random access memory (VPCRAM) are considered with ITRS roadmap. Simulation of set reset current are carried out to analyze the feasibility of scaling down and compared with values in ITRS roadmap. Simulation results show that width and length ratio of the phase change material (PCM) is key parameter of scaling down in VPCRAM. Thermal simulation results provide the design guideline of VPCRAM. Optimization of phase change material in VPCRAM can be achieved by oxide sidewall process optimization.

차량 주행 감각 재현을 위한 운전 시뮬레이터 개발에 관한 연구 (I) (A study on the Development of a Driving Simulator for Reappearance of Vehicle Motion (I))

  • A vehicle driving simulator is a virtual reality device which a human being feels as if the one drives a vehicle actually. The driving simulator is used effectively for studying interaction of a driver-vehicle and developing vehicle system of a new concept. The driving simulator consists of a vehicle motion bed system, motion controller, visual and audio system, vehicle dynamic analysis system, cockpit system, and etc. In it is paper, the main procedures to develop the driving simulator are classified by five parts. First, a motion bed system and a motion controller, which can track a reference trajectory, are developed. Secondly, a performance evaluation of the motion bed system for the driving simulator is carried out using LVDTs and accelerometers. Thirdly, a washout algorithm to realize a motion of an actual vehicle in the driving simulator is developed. The algorithm changes the motion space of a vehicle into the workspace of the driving simulator. Fourthly, a visual and audio system for feeling higher realization is developed. Finally, an integration system to communicate and monitor between sub systems is developed.
