결빙억제제의 종류, 농도 및 침지시간이 참전복 Haliotis discus hannai 발생배의 생존활성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Concentration and Immersion Time of Three Cryoprotective Agents on the Embryos Development of Abalone Haliotis discus hannai)

  • 결빙억제제(CPA)의 종류, 농도 및 침지시간이 참전복 Haliotis discus hannai 발생배의 생존활성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 4세포, 담륜자 및 피면자를 dimethyl sulfoxide, ethylene glycol, propylene glycol 농도별로 10분, 20분 및 30분간 침지하였다. CPA 침지 후 각 발생배의 발생진행률은 각 CPA 농도가 낮을수록, CPA 침지시간이 짧을수록 높았다. 또한, 피면자에서 비틀림전까지의 발생진행률은 4세포에서 담륜자까지의 것보다 높았다. CPA 침지 후 발생진행률 및 유생활성지수는 ethylene glycol에서 가장 높았다. 참전복 발생배의 냉동보존 효과를 높일 수 있는 CPA 및 농도는 ethylene glycol 2.0 M, 평형시간은 30분인 것으로 추정된다.

  • Semi-structured in-depth interview method were used to test psycho-social comparison among first time offenders and repeated offenders. Data were analyzed by t-test and chi-square. Differences between first time offenders and repeated offenders were that there were more male offenders than female offenders, and violent and theft offenders were more than sex offenders fraud and traffic offenders; early starters were more repeated offenders than late starters; there were some variables such as runway of home, parents' caring attitude, school drop out and maladjustment affecting in repeated offenses; developmental environment of repeated offenders were more negative than first time offenders. Therefore, intervention and prevention program development of good parenting and schooling and forensic counseling focused on optimal developmental environment is needed.

아동의 학업성취 발달궤적에 대한 사교육의 시간 의존적 효과 (The Time-dependent Effects of Changes in Private Education on the Developmental Trajectories of Academic Achievement Among Early Adolescents)

  • This study examined the time-dependent effects of changes in private education on the trajectories of academic achievement among early adolescents. Five-wave data was employed from the KYPS; the participants being 2844 (1524 boys, 1320 girls). All were 4th graders in 2004 and became 8th graders in 2008. Latent growth curve model indicated that academic achievement significantly decreased over the five time points, but there were significant individual differences as well. Participants who reported higher initial levels of academic achievement tended to decrease in academic achievement more slowly over time compared to participants who reported lower levels of initial academic achievement. The effects of private education on academic achievement were at their most powerful when participants were in the 4th grade. Private educational experiences among 6th graders had relatively less influence upon the academic achievement of 7th graders.

  • 갈색거저리의 온도에 따른 유충 발육시험을 15, 17, 20, 22, 25, 28 및 $30^{\circ}C$의 7개 항온조건, 광주기 14L:10D, 상대습도 60~70% 조건에서 수행하였다. 유충은 13령까지 경과하였고 항온 조건에서 사망률은 17, $20^{\circ}C$에서 극소수 개체만이 발견되었고, $22^{\circ}C$ 이상의 항온조건에서는 발견되지 않았다. 유충의 발육기간은 $17^{\circ}C$에서 244.3일로 가장 길었고, $30^{\circ}C$에서 110.8일로 가장 짧았다. $15^{\circ}C$는 부화되지 않아 유충 발육 조사가 불가능하였다. 온도와 발육율과의 관계를 알아보기 위하여 선형모형과 비선형모형(Logan 6)을 이용하였으며, 선형모형을 이용하여 추정한 전체유충의 발육영점온도는 $6.0^{\circ}C$, 발육 유효적산온도는 2564.1DD 였으며 선형, 비선형 모두 결정계수값($r^2$) 이 0.95로 높은 값을 보였다. 전체유충의 발육완료분포는 2-parameter Weibull 함수를 사용하였으며 전체 유충의 결정계수 값은 0.8502~0.9390의 양호한 모형 적합성을 보였다.

소 수정란의 난구세포, 난관 상피세포, 호르몬과의 공배양 및 동결이 체외발생에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Effects of Co-culture of Cumulus Cell, Oviduct Epithelial Cell and Hormones and Freezing on !fl Vitro Developmental Rates of Bovine Embryos)

  • The studies were carried out to investigate the effects of co-culture with cumulus cells and oviduct epithelial cells on the in vitro fertilization and cleavage rate of bovine follicular cocytes and to determine the optimum thawing temperature and equilibration time on in vitro developmental rate of frozen bovine embryos. The ovaries were obtained from slaughtered Korean native cows. The follicular oocytes were cultured in TGM-199 medium containing 10 IU /ml의 PM SG, 10 IU /ml의 hCG, ip g/ml의 $\beta$-estradiol and 10% FCS for 24~48 hrs in incubator with 5% $CO_2$ in air at 38.5$^{\circ}C$. The bovine embryos following dehydration by cryoprotective agents and a various concentration of sucrose were directly plunged into liquld nitrogen and thawed in 3$0^{\circ}C$ water. Survival rate was defined as developmental rate on in vitro culture or FDA-test. The results are sunanarized as followes :1. The in vitro fertilization and in vitro developmental rates of bovine oocytes co-cultured with cumulus cells in TCM499 medium were 75.0~76.8% and 17.3~27.6%, respect-ively. And in-vitro fertilization rates of cumulus-enclosed oocytes(55.4%)were significantly(p<0.05) higher than cumulus-denuded oocytes (23.1%). 2. The in vitro fertilization and in vitro developmental rates of bovine oocytes co-cultured with l$\times$ l04cells /ml, 1 x l06cells /ml, lx l08cells /ml and 1 x l015cells /ml oviduct epithelial cells in TCM-199 medium were 74.5~77.8% and 15.7~21.20 respectively.3. The in-vitro fertilization and in vitro developmental rates of bovine oocytes cocultured in '1CM-199 media containing PMSG, hCG, PMSG+hCG. PMSG+$\beta$-estradiol, hCG+$\beta$-estradiol 0 to 40 hrs after insemination were 74.0~77.4% and l8.9~23.l%, re-spectiv ely.4.The survival rates of bovine embryos thawed after rapid freezing in the freezing medium containing a various concentration of sucrose added 1.5M and 2.OM glycerol,DMSO and propanediol were 23.5~31.4% and 20.6~34.l%, respectively. 5. The temperature thawed at 3$0^{\circ}C$ after rapid freezing of bovine embryos resulted in a significantly higher embryos survival rate than did at 2$0^{\circ}C$ and 35$^{\circ}C$.6. The equilibration time on the survival rates of bovine embryos was attained after short period of time(2.5~5 min.) in the freezing medium higher than long period of time (10~20min.).   • 본 논문에서는 그동안 부분적으로 진행된 발달장애 진단 평가에 관련된 전산처리를 멀티미디어 기법을 응용하여 발달장애 진단 평가분야에 새로운 방법을 제시한다. 발달장애 진단 평가를 위한 멀티미디어 정보는 여러 가지 속성을 지니고 있기 때문에 모든 발달장애 진단 평가 정보에 대한 기술을 사람이 수행해야 할 때는 엄청난 작업량이 수반될 뿐 아니라 동일한 데이터에 대한 기술이 주관에 따라 달라질 수도 있다는 것을 알게 되였다. 특히 발달장애 시스템 구현은 현재의 컴퓨팅 환경에서의 동영상 데이터 처리에 대한 비중의 증가, 텍스트 위주의 데이터에서 시각적인 동영상으로의 데이터 활용의 전이 등 발달장애 데이터가 멀티미디어 환경에 적합한 데이터로의 전이가 필수적이며 사용자 역시 빠른 이해를 위해 시각적 데이터를 선호하기 때문에 본 논문에서는 GUI(Graphics User Interface) 기법을 도입하여 검사 중에 텍스트 명령어는 거의 사용하지 않고도 발달장애 진단 평가를 수행할 수 있게 했다. 특히 발달장애 진단 평가에서 필요한 각종 데이터는 그 속성이 영상, 이미지, 논리연산의 필요성 및 각종 연산이 요구된다. 그래서 본 논문에서는 문제점을 해결하기 위해 편집대상 데이터(Content)에 의해 관련 정보를 검색하는 내용 기반(Content-based)의 검색 기술에 대한 연구를 적용했다.

Assessing systemic, developmental, and reproductive toxicity and estrogenicity of Korean red ginseng extract G1899 in juvenile Sprague-Dawley Rats

  • Background: Korean red ginseng (KRG) is a product from ginseng roots, which is enriched with ginsenosides and has been utilized for a long time as an adaptogen to alleviate various physiological or disease conditions. While KRG is generally considered safe, conducting a thorough toxicological assessment of the spray-dried powder G1899 during the juvenile period is essential to establish its safety profile. This study aimed to assess the safety of G1899 during the juvenile period using Sprague-Dawley rats. Methods: Two studies were conducted separately: a juvenile toxicity study and a uterotrophic bioassay. To assess the potential toxicity at systemic, postnatal developmental, and reproductive levels, G1899 was orally gavaged once a day in post-weaning juvenile Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats at 0, 1250, 2500, or 5000 mg/kg/day. Estrogenicity was assessed by orally gavaging G1899 in immature female SD rats at 0, 2500, or 5000 mg/kg/day on postnatal days (PND) 19-21, followed by a uterotrophic bioassay. These studies were conducted in accordance with the Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations and regulatory test guidelines. Results: Regarding juvenile toxicity, no abnormalities related to the G1899 treatment were observed in any group during the experiment. Moreover, no uterotrophic responses were observed in the dosed female group. Based on these results, the no observed adverse effect level (NOAEL) of G1899 was determined to be at least 5000 mg/kg/day for general systemic function, developmental/reproductive function, and estrogenic activity. Conclusion: Our results suggest that G1899 is not toxic to juveniles at doses of up to 5000 mg/kg/day.

Effect of temperature on the development of the Common Grass Yellow, Eurema hecabe

  • The developmental responses of insects to temperature are important considerations in gaining a better understanding of their ecology and life histories. Temperature-dependent phenology models permit examination of the effects of temperature on the geographical distributions, population dynamics, and management of insects. Measurements of insect developmental and survival responses to temperature pose practical challenges that depend on the chosen modality, variability among individuals, and high mortality rates near the lower and upper threshold temperatures. Different temperature levels can significantly affect larval development of Eurema hecabe. The development of E. hecabe reared on leaves of Lespedeza cuneata was investigated at three temperature regimes (20, 25, and 30℃), a relative humidity of 60%, and a light:dark photoperiod of 14:10 h. The developmental time from larva to adult was 34.3, 20.6, and 17.9 d at temperatures of 20, 25, and 30℃, respectively. Pupal rate was 47.6%, 47.6%, and 61.9% at temperatures of 20, 25, and 30℃, respectively. The developmental threshold temperature estimated from larva to pupae was 8.1℃ with 381.7 degree-days. There is an increasing need for a standardized manual for rearing this butterfly species based on adequate knowledge of its ecology.

아버지의 흡연이 아동의 발달수준에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Paternal Smoking on the Developmental Levels of Children)

  • This study examined the effects of paternal smoking on the developmental levels of children younger than 3 years of age. For this purpose, the paper made use of data from the Panel Study on Korean Children which has been released in 3 waves - 2008, 2009, and 2010. The main findings are as follows. First, the smoking characteristics of parents (e.g., the amount of smoking in the morning, the time starting the first cigarette of the day) rather than the duration of smoking or whether the father smoked or not revealed significant relationships with developmental levels. Second, children whose fathers preferred smoking in the morning exhibited lower activity levels or more areas with developmental delays than did their counterparts. Third, children whose fathers smoked more than 11 cigarettes a day were more likely to show problematic developmental levels, especially among those whose fathers responded so only for 1 year out of 3 years. Based on these findings, this study suggests that future research may be conducted, relating to the mechanisms through which morning smoking affects children and possible interventions for such morning smokers.

Drosophila melanogaster에 있어서 Methyl methane sulfonate의 영향에 대한 생리유전학적 연구 (Physiological Genetic Studies on the Erects of Methyl methanesulfonate in Drosophila melanogaster)

  • Methyl methanesulfonate (MMS) was fed to Drosophila melnogaster in order to investigate its toxic capability at developmental and adult stages, and the hereditary effect of toxicity and the potency for induction of sex-linked lethal mutation during the slyer-matogenesis by the means of an attached-X method. In the control group, the egg to adult viability of D. melnogaster was 95.2%, while 3. 5mM and 5.0mM treated groups were 90.0% and 84.1%, respectively. In the case of their progenies (Fl), the viability was 96.9% in the control group, while 3.5mM and 5.0mM treated groups were 54.5% and 1.6%, respectively. Therefore, these differences between two generations show significant physiological toxic effects in the next generation. In the parental generation, the developmental time was calculated 11.05 days in the control group, 12.43 days In 3.5%mM treated group, and 13.23 days in 5.0mM. In the case of Fl it was estimated 10.35 days in the control group, and 11.43 days In 3.5mM treated group. Compared with the control groups In two generations, the developmental time generally delayed as the dose of MMS increased. As to the sex-ratio, there was no differences between the control and MMS treated groups. The toxic values of adult stage showed which increased the frequency of mortality with MMS concentrations. The mortality at 120hr In the control group was 1.67% and it in 0.5mM MMS treated group 3.33%. In 2.5mM MMS treated group, it was 33.3% at 72hr, and it 95% at 120hr The increase of the morality was shown from 72hr in 4.0mM treated group which was 100% at 96hr. There was the concentration-dependent induction of sex-linked lethal mutation during the spermatogenesis by means of an attached-X method, MMS had more pronounced effect in sperm and spermaid stages in D. melnogaster.
