This paper proposes an analysis to image of inchon port using fuzzy theory. After analysis, positive opinion is mean membership function 0.73 and positive membership function 0.27, negative opinion is mean membership function 0.69, negative membership function 0.31 about inchon port development. therefore, for port development need to accomodation of each opinion postive opinion is maximum decrease from 20 age to 30 age. and negative opinion is maximum increase from 10 age to 20 age. According to the results, port development need to high positive image and low negative image.
The Seosan-Daesan Port is a representative trade port in Chungnam, and has the sixth largest total cargo throughput and the third largest oil cargo throughput in Korea. However, research on this port's development is lacking relative to that for Busan Port, Incheon Port, and Gwangyang Port, and no study exists that suggests the direction of the development strategy for Seosan-Daesan Port. This study discusses the future role of Seosan-Daesan Port in preparation for a rapidly changing future and the development strategy that should be established. Using the AHP, a development strategy is provided for Seosan-Daesan Port from short/mid-term and long-term viewpoints for three aspects: operation activation, infrastructure construction, and policy support. Operation activation is chosen as the most significant factor from a short/mid-term viewpoint, whereas infrastructure construction is recognized as important from a long-term viewpoint. Specifically, from a short/mid-term viewpoint, sustainable container cargo attraction, multipurpose dock construction, management pier construction, and opening of international passenger ferry lines are important factors while from the long-term viewpoint, hinterland construction, petrochemical industry cluster construction, automobile industry cluster construction, and management improvement system are important. Establishing action plans for each strategy and a cooperative network for sharing goals and strengthening cooperation is necessary.
The composition of water-friendly space in the port and harbour developments provides the accessibility to the sea and thus resting & recreational function of the local citizen, which should be treated importantly for the eco-friendly coastal development. However, the high demand on water-friendly space can induce another environmental problem because most port and harbour developments require marine reclamation and the water-friendly space are made up on the reclamation area. The present study analysed the problems and suggested matters to be considered in composing the water-friendly space of port and harbour developments. The study also established the management direction by site characteristics of port and harbour. In addition, we attempt to find a plan to avoid the water-friendly space composition with environmental damage and to secure the environmental and public soundness in site selection, land use and facilities plan based on case studies.

The number of calling ports has been decreased and the degree of inter- and intra-port competition has been increased, which is caused by the market trends that shipping liners have and operate their own terminals, strategic M & A frequency occurs among shipping liners, and container vessel size is increasing. The trends also cause shipping liners to change the evaluation factors for decision to call a particular port such as port preference, potential for growth, port competitiveness, etc. Since the decision of liners greatly influences the policies for port and terminal development, it is worth having interest in the evaluation factors. Therefore, this work intended to evaluate 8 major ports (Port of Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Busan, Rotterdam, Kaoshing, and Tokyo) with regard to liners' evaluation factors (calling port preference, potential for growth and port competitiveness) and to classify ports by similarity of evaluation factors with the methodologies of ANOVA analysis and Duncan test. The result shows implication for liners' viewpoint to evaluate major ports in the world.
The purpose in this study is development of model for the Container Terminals of Pusan Port, First of all, Quantitive and Qualititve factors are characterized which effects on Physical Distribution System in Container Terminals. The System Dynamics method is used to develope the model by using these factor. This model is able to present the timinig of investment in Container Terminals of Pusan Port. Six models are showed by change of parameters in System Dynamics, in this paper. In the model, Five feedback loop were found. Loop 1 : Number of Liners$\rightarrow$Number of Congested ships$\rightarrow$Port's Charges$\rightarrow$Export & Import Cargo Volumes$\rightarrow$Number of Liners$\rightarrow$The will to investment of government$\rightarrow$Length of berth→Number of Liners. Negative loop was acquired. Loop 2 : Port's Charge$\rightarrow$Economic of Port$\rightarrow$The will to Private management$\rightarrow$Efficiency for Port's Operation$\rightarrow$Port's Charges. Positive loop was acquired. Loop 3 : Number of Congested ships$\rightarrow$Planning for future development$\rightarrow$Information Service$\rightarrow$Support service for port's user$\rightarrow$Number of Congested ships. Negative loop was acquired. Loop 4 : Number of Congested ships$\rightarrow$Planning for future development$\rightarrow$Extent of stacking area$\rightarrow$Number of handling equipmint$\rightarrow$Number of Congested ships. Negative loop was acquired. Loop 5 : Export & Import Cargo Volumes$\rightarrow$Number of Liners$\rightarrow$Econmic of Port$\rightarrow$Support service for port's user$\rightarrow$Export & Import Cargo Volumes. Positive loop was acquired. System's level variables were selected as followings ; Number of Liners, Number of Congested ships, Export & Import Carge Volumes, Length of berth, and Port's Charges. As result of simmulation of model, fluctuation of respective year was found in level variables. This fluctuation can be used properly to present timing of investment.
Recently, the role of container ports is radically changing, These changes are largely driven by the innovation process of Logistics such as Supply Chain Logistics and Global Logistics due to the international expansional of industry. Under this environment, It is required that the container port should act as a integral part of a Supply Logistics Chain especially to provide the customer-oriented logistics service. This paper deals with the development strategy of container ports coping with these changes in the view point of container ports as a Logistics infrastructure to provide customer-response services and necessary to the economic promotion of hinterlands. Strategy is suggested in the phases of the customers desire, the pattern of container cargo, the economic promotion of hinterlands, and interrelation of container ports in north-east Asia and also domestics through the analysis of competiveness of container ports.

This study is to define the Automated Container Terminal(ACT) and container terminal system. Also, we analyze the present condition of the container terminal system in Pusan port and its automation level by systems approach. And this paper aims at evaluating on the priority of R&D investment until the beginning of the second stage of New Pusan Port Project(2006). In this process we have considered 8 factors (cost, labor, area, time volume, reliability, safety, convenience) to analyze 6 subsystems. The priority order of R&D until target year by sub-systems is as follow : Cargo Handling System〉Transfer System〉Port Entry System〉Storage System(Distribution&Manufacturing System included)〉Inland Transport System〉Port Information System.
Whether over taking or parallel sailing of two or more vessels is allowable on marine traffic route or not, the traffic congestion due to traffic volume has to be evaluated separately. In Gaduk-sudo, overtaking or parallel sailing is so allowable that the Bumper Model is introduced to evaluated the traffic congestion. But the channels within the habour limit such as the route of Ulsan New Port are so prohibited overtaking or parallel sailing that the traffic congestion has to be evaluated by using theoretical traffic capacity or by traffic simulation. In this paper, the congestion of Southern New Port and Mipo Port was evaluated the congestion by using theoretical traffic capacity and the other area of Ulsan Port by traffic simulation. The incresed traffic volumes on Ulsan Channels according to Ulsan New Port Development in 2011 were evaluated to have no effect with the traffic congestion.

As a result of analyzing the relationship between the smart growth principle and the regenerating factors of the port waterfront city, it was found to be highly related to the port waterfront regeneration plan. Factors that are related to the application of smart growth principle derived from association analysis are as follows: ⯈ community development suitable for walking ⯈ differentiated and attractive community building with definite place, ⯈ open space, farmland, beautiful natural scenery, environmental preservation, ⯈ strengthening and inducing development for existing communities, and providing diversity of transportation options. However, in the Jeju port redevelopment plan, the principles such as ⯈ complex land use ⯈ advantage of high-density architectural design method, ⯈ various housing opportunities and options, etc., need to be applied in implementation design. Since Jeju city and Jeju port possess the strong characteristic features of port waterfront city, so it is necessary to develop jointly applying smart growth principle through integrated port waterfront city regeneration plan.
