A Preliminary Design of Flight Test Conditions for a Sub-scale RBCC Engine using a Sounding Rocket

  • Various R&D programs for rocket-based combined cycle (RBCC) engines have progressed worldwide for the space development and the defense applications. As a way toward indigenous domestic RBCC program, a preliminary design of flight test conditions was studied in this study for a sub-scale RBCC engine using a sounding rocket. Launch and flight profiles were calculated for several booster options and compared with that of HyShot II program. The result shows that the Korea Sounding Rocket-II (KSR-II) is a proper candidate to perform the flight test available in Korea. The recommend flight test conditions with KSR-II are Mach 6.0 with a test vehicle of 230 kg and Mach 7.4 with 50 kg. Present study will soon be followed by a design of sub-scale RBCC for a flight test using a sounding rocket.

  • This paper aims to analyse design conditions and propose schematic design for Doryang High School in Gumi. As for site conditions, it has the size of $14,988m^2$ and a rather flat condition. And the area is under development with land subdivision method expecting high density housing around it. As a program, Education Facilities Bureau required to provide 36 classes and supporting facilities. To design the schemes, we followed the 7th education policy guidelines. During the design development stage, 3 alternatives are suggested as in the paper. However, staffs of Education Bureau and teachers favoured and selected our scheme, which gives symbolic image, as a new high school education environment.

  • The next Korean high speed train development project is started. In testing stage of this project, the 400km/h maximum speed test will be conducted. In Korean railway infrastructure conditions the 400km/h seems to be a critical speed especially in the aspect of the overhead contact lines. The current collection performance of the 400km/h which is predicted by dynamic interaction simulation are described in this paper. To discuss the permissible criteria of contact forces, displacements and percentage contact loss, the French 575km/h current collection conditions are simulated. Furthermore, review of the simulation results of the Korean 400km/h current collection conditions is conducted through comparison with that of the French 575km/h.

  • This paper deals with the development of measuring methodology and the requirement for its evaluation of the infrared radiation from a naval ship to optical sensors, considering the Meteorological conditions. Factors required for measuring the apparent temperature and infrared radiation are identified and two methods are suggested based on the measuring instruments carried by ship or aircraft. and target operation in the Meteorological conditions is considered. This study describes some factors affecting the IR signature. required instruments to obtain the IR signal considering the naval ship.

  • In terms of chemical detection performance related with chemical material sampling, this investigation shows optimized values, resulted from minimizing loss from air turbulence and other reasons when pressure changes on the basis of sampling flow rate Based on simulations and pressure control of the outside conditions it became possible to obtain ion mobility detection optimum values, and to derive standard pressure conditions that is appropriate for DMS characteristic.

  • The increase of the population has an effect on the increase of students. The high birthrate, which means the extension of enrollments in the future, requires preparation of enough facilities and equipment for education. However, the educational conditions of Korea are not yet developed, and in such a situation the increase of enrollments makes the improvement of educational conditions difficult. Besides, the influx of students into the large cities has made complex educational problems such as a decrease of students in the rural area and a change for the worse of the educational conditions in the urban area. For the development of education in such a situation, an emphasis should be put not only on security of a stable educational finance but also on activation of family planning project and curb of population influx into large cities in the realm of population policy. In addition, population education for the youth should be strengthened in order that they can have sound view of family life, married life, children, and sex moral. For the way the young married live has relationship with the number and quality of children in the future of our nation.

A Study on Aerodynamic Loads of a Deploying Wing Launched from a Mobile Platform (이동식 플랫폼에서 발사되는 비행체의 날개 전개 공력 하중에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, a aerodynamic loads prediction to design a deploying device of folded fin was introduced. In general, resultant flow conditions around the fin are used to obtain deploying moments and required energy. However, when it comes to the air vehicles launched from a mobile platform, more specific flow conditions can be provided. With the conditions, the design criteria can be calculated more realistically. In this study, therefore, aerodynamic moments induced by aerodynamic loads and energy required in deployment were calculated using wind-over-deck(WOD) velocity, combination of a platform velocity and a wind velocity. For the calculation, wind tunnel test was conducted on various angle of attack, side slip angles, and folding angles. It was found that the aerodynamic moments and the energy required in deployment using the non-uniform flow due to the velocity components were less than those using the uniform flow without the components.

Characteristics of Concrete Strength Development Based on Cement Type and Curing Temperature in Cold-Weather Conditions (한중조건에서 시멘트 종류 및 양생온도별 콘크리트의 강도 발현 특성)

  • In this study, analyzed the difference in compressive strength of concrete under cold conditions, using the 28-day standard curing compressive strength as a reference and examining variations based on cement types and curing temperatures. The results showed that the strength difference based on curing temperatures reached up to 9MPa at 0℃. However, as the curing period progressed, the difference in strength due to curing temperature gradually diminished. These findings are anticipated to be valuable for concrete mixing and quality control in cold weather conditions.

  • MiRNAs are endogenous, single stranded ~22-nucleotide non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) which are transcribed by RNA polymerase II and mediate negative post-transcriptional gene regulation through binding to 3'untranslated regions (UTR), possibly open reading frames (ORFs) or 5'UTRs of target mRNAs. MiRNAs are involved in the normal physiology of eukaryotic cells, so dysregulation may be associated with diseases like cancer, and neurodegenerative, heart and other disorders. Among all cancers, lung cancer, with high incidence and mortality worldwide, is classified into two main groups: non-small cell lung cancer and small cell lung cancer. Recent promising studies suggest that gene expression profiles and miRNA signatures could be a useful step in a noninvasive, low-cost and repeatable screening process of lung cancer. Similarly, every stage of lung development during fetal life is associated with specific miRNAs. Since lung development and lung cancer phenomena share the same physiological, biological and molecular processes like cell proliferation, development and shared mRNA or expression regulation pathways, and according to data adopted from various studies, they may have partially shared miRNA signature. Thus, focusing on lung cancer in relation to lung development in miRNA studies might provide clues for lung cancer diagnosis and prognosis.

Change the Properties of Amorphous Carbon Hardmask Film Prepared with the Variation of Process Parameters in Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Depostion Systems

  • In this study the amorphous carbon films were deposited by PECVD at the substrate temperature range of 250 to $600^{\circ}C$, and the process conditions of higher and lower precursor flow rate, respectively. The temperature was a main parameter to control the density and mirco-structures of carbon films, and their's properties depended with the process temperatrue are changed by controlling precursor flow rate. The precursor feeding rate affect on the plasma ion density and a deposition reactivity. This change of film properties was obtained the instrinsic stress, FT-IR & Raman analysis, refractive index (RI) and ext. coef. (k) measured by ellipsometer. In the process conditions of lower and higher flow rate of precursor it had a different intrinsic stress as a function of the substrate temperature.
