  • This study was conducted to prioritize land purchase in Hwapocheon wetland protection area by reflecting the conservation value of wetlands considering HSI(Habitat Suitability Index) for flagship species. As a result of this study, the flagship species, Oriental White Stork and Been Goose, which can represent the Hwapocheon wetland protection area, were selected through selection criteria and expert feedback. Based on the habitat requirements of the selected flagship species, SI(Suitability Index) for the flagship species was reviewed and the conservation value of wetlands was assessed. The conservation value of the wetlands was divided into five grades from very high to very low. The areas with high conservation value were mainly distributed around wetlands and waters in upstream and downstream of Hwapocheon wetland protection area. The land purchase priorities were divided into five grades by overlapping the thematic maps of the conservation value of wetlands, the economics, and the urgency of restoration. The arable lands which can disrupt wetland ecosystems are analyzed as priority areas where priority purchasing is required. Relatively well-preserved wetlands and areas have low land purchase priorities. This study is meaningful in that biodiversity is considered in land purchase priorities.

  • With the increased interest in renewable energy, various hydrogen production technologies have been developed. Hydrogen production can be classified into green, blue, gray, and pink hydrogen depending on the production method; each method has different technical performance, costs, and CO2 emission characteristics. Hence, selecting the technology priorities that meet the company strategy is essential to develop technologically and economically feasible projects and achieve the national carbon neutrality targets. In addition, in early development technologies, analyzing the technology investment priorities based on the company's strategy and establishing investment decisions such as budget and human resources allocation is important. This study proposes a method of selecting priorities for various hydrogen production technologies as a specific implementation plan to achieve the national carbon neutrality goal. In particular, we analyze key performance indicators for technology, economic feasibility, and environmental performance by various candidate technologies and suggest ways to score them. As a result of the analysis using the aforementioned method, the priority of steam methane reforming (SMR) technology combined with carbon capture & storage (CCS) was established to be high in terms of achieving the national carbon neutrality goal.

  • Many developed countries, including Korea, are rapidly aged owing to years of use. Infrastructures such as roads, water, and sewage are Social Overhead Capital (SOC), which provide convenience to the nation and support national economic growth. Thus, continuous maintenance and investment are required because infrastructure deterioration is directly related to social effects, such as quality of life and safety. In addition, because infrastructure maintenance costs a lot of the budget, it is necessary to appropriate criteria for budget allocation, given assessing the condition of infrastructure. This study developed an Infrastructure Maintenance Map (IMM) based on a Geographic Information System (GIS) for infrastructure maintenance budgets and investment priorities. The IMM uses maintenance information for roads, bridges, water, and sewage, obtained from Bridge Management System (BMS), Pavement Management System (PMS) and facility data in South Korea. The IMM can calculate deterioration levels and maintenance costs of infrastructure repair methods. Maintenance priorities are also evaluated based on Multi-Attribute Utility Theory using the deterioration level, economic feasibility, and effect of facilities. This study contributes to easy decision-making regarding infrastructure investment priorities and maintenance budgeting to the status of facility on the 3D map by IMM.
