Degradation diagnosis of cable is one of major issues for operation and maintenance in overhead distribution power lines. The diagnostic system for overhead power lines is composed of three parts in functional aspect - a travelling unit, a sensing unit and a communication unit. Among them, sensor detects the defects such as corrosion and disconnecting of power lines. Performance of sensor is very important, and besides, the size and structure of sensor is restricted for installation to small and lightweight diagnostic system. This paper suggests an optimal eddy current sensor best suit for small and lightweight diagnostic system in consideration of detecting performance, size and ease of installation and so on. Proposed sensor has been designed by Drum core structure and can be applied to the all domestic overhead power lines regardless of the cross-sectional areas. Also, it is showed that results of mock environmental test are satisfied.

In this study, an ultrasonic transducer is fabricated with 1-3 type composite resonators. Pulse-echo responses of an ultrasonic transducer are investigated in underwater dependent on the variable designated water-level. LED Output signals of a level limit with changing a water level is obtained by the 1-3 type self-made composite transducer and electric measuring unit. LED is turned on at above the up-limit level with increasing a water level, and LED is turned on at less than the down-limit level with decreasing a water level. There was good agreement between the virtual level and output LED signal by using the self-made water-detecting system.

This paper was provided to help in detecting defects in power transformer. For this purpose, a partial discharge cell was designed and manufactured as a discharge source to simulate particle defected paper-oil insulation in power transformer. Experimental set-up for measuring PD signals was described. Magnitude of electromagnetic wave signals and corresponding amount of apparent discharge were measured simultaneously against phase of applied voltage to the discharge cell. Frequency range and pattern of PRPD(Phase Resolved Partial Discharge) of partial discharge signals were examined and analyzed. The results will be contributed to build the defect database of power transformer and to decrease the substation faults.

In particular, gas sensors require characteristics such as high speed, sensitivity, and selectivity. In this study, we fabricated a $NO_X$ gas sensor by using a multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)/zinc oxide (ZnO) composite film. The fabricated MWCNT/ZnO gas sensor was then treated by a $450^{\circ}C$ temperature process to increase its detection sensitivity for NOx gas. We compared the detection characteristics of a ZnO film gas sensor, MWCNT film gas sensor, and the MWCNT/ZnO composited film gas sensor with and without the heat-treatment process. The fabricated gas sensors were used to detect $NO_X$ gas at different concentrations. The gas sensor absorbed $NO_X$ gas molecules, exhibiting increased sensitivity. The sensitivity of the gas sensor was increased by increasing the gas concentration. Additionally, while changing the temperature inside the chamber for the MWCNT/ZnO composite film gas sensor, we obtained its sensitivity for detecting $NO_X$ gas. Compared with ZnO, the MWCNT film gas sensor is excellent for detecting $NO_X$ gas. From the experimental results, we confirmed the enhanced gas sensor sensing mechanism. The increased effect by electronic interaction between the MWCNT and ZnO films contributes to the improved sensor performance.

Gas sensor materials capable of detecting hydrogen gases (H$_2$) or nitrogen oxides (NO$\_$x/, primarily NO and NO$_2$) with high sensitivity have attracted much interest in conjunction with the growing concern to the protection of global environments. Beside conventional sensor materials, such as semiconductors., conducting polymers and solid electrolytes, the potential of sensor materials with a new method for detecting hydrogen gases or nitrogen oxides gas has also been tested. The breakdown voltage of porous varistors shifted to a low electric field upon exposure to H$_2$ gas, whereas it shifted to a reverse direction in an atmosphere containing oxidizing gases such as O$_3$ and NO$_2$ in the temperature range of 300 to 600$^{\circ}C$. Furthermore, it was found that the magnitude of the breakdown voltage shift, i. e. the magnitude of sensitivity, was well correlated with gas concentration, and that the H$_2$ sensitivity was improved by controlling the composition of the Bi$_2$O$_3$ rich grain boundary phase. However, NO$\_$x/ sensing properties of porous varistors have not been studies in detail. The objective of the present study is to investigate the effect of the composition of the Bi$_2$O$_3$ rich grain boundary phase and other additive such as A1$_2$O$_3$ on the hydrogen gases (H$_2$) sensing properties of porous ZnO based varistors.
We developed SAW gas sensor for monitoring SOx gas with high sensitivity. It was fabricated as a microsensor for detecting SOx gas by depositing sensing material on SAW device. As a detecting layer material, CdS was selected. Deposition of CdS in the form of thin films was carried out by the ultrasonic spray pyrolysis method using ultrasonic spray nozzle. Thin films with the uniform and large surface area for sensors were deposited. The stable pyrolysis environment provided by uniform and fine droplets formed by spray nozzle made it possible to obtain thin films with excellent quality. The minimum grain size of the CdS thin films was about 50 nm when deposited at $300^{\circ}C$. SAW gas sensors showed reasonable sensitivity and reproducibility. Further studies are required to investigate the interference of other gases to SOx gas detection.

The bandwidth of detecting radars used for military purpose is increasingly broadened, and recently, the frequency band of the detecting radars is expanding to millimeterwave bands of the millimeterwave bands of 35 GHz and 94 GHz. Since, especially, it is essential and important to fabricate and develop EM wave absorber with the absorption ability more than 10 dB in 94 GHz band, the EM wave absorber was manufactured based on the design method by FDTD simulation. As a result, the developed EM wave absorber with the composition ratio of Binder(CPE with additional materials) : Carbon = 70 : 30 wt.% has the thickness of 0.7 mm and the absorption ability more than 14 dB in the frequency range of 94 GHz.

In this paper, viologen derivative is used as charge transfer material to develop sensors for detecting the organic pollutants which are the main reason of harbor pollution. We fabricated self-assembled monolayers of viologen derivative on gold electrode of QCM and investigated an electrochemical behavior property. We also determined electrochemical sensing property about environmental pollution materials such as bezene, phosphate and surfactant through quantitative and qualitative analysis of charge transfer using intrinsic property of viologen derivative by temperature and concentration change. From the achieved results, we can apply and develope the detecting sensors for harbor pollutants.
Purpose: This study was conducted to develop a behavioral checklist to predict an autistic disorder and to identify the earliest detecting time. Method: One hundred and fifty eight children including normal, autistic, institutionalized normal, and retarded were assessed using critical interaction behavioral markers from literature review. Data was collected by semi-structured mother-child interaction by videotape recording and analyzed byfactor analysis, Cronbach a, Kappa, $x^2$, and Duncan. Result: Ten behavioral markers were sorted into 2 factors; joint-attention and synchronized behavior. Autistic children were impaired in pretend play, odeclarative pointing, proimperative pointing, gaze-monitoring, referential looking, showing, joint-attention, rhythmical vocal exchange, and synchronized laughing. The sychronized behavior was also a critical marker to predict the autistic disorder. However, it was difficult to differentiate autistic disorder from mental retardation. In addition, the appropriate detecting time was around 18 months after birth. Conclusion: This checklist should be behavior markers to predict autistic disorder and could be useful as educational material at children's clinics, parents class, and for caregivers in the health center. In addition, early detection should lead to treatment being started as soon after 18 months of age as possible.
