  • A crude drug "Dang-Gui", belonging to the genus Angelica, has been used as a traditional herbal medicine in Asia. Various studies have investigated the chemical components and pharmacological activities of Dang-Gui worldwide. However, domestic research results published in Korean are undervalued in international academia due to language barriers. Therefore, it is necessary to summarize the domestic research findings systematically for greater accessibility. This review focuses on the results published in four Korean pharmaceutical journals between 1970 and 2018, which detail the botanical, phytochemical, and pharmacological properties of three Angelica species (A. gigas, A. sinensis, and A. acutiloba) used as "Dang-Gui" in Korea, China, and Japan.

  • Ship shaped FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading) units are the most commonly used floating production units to extract hydrocarbons from reservoirs under the seabed. These structures are usually much larger than general cargo ships and have their natural frequency outside the wave frequency range. This results in the response to first order wave forces acting on the hull to be negligible. However, second order difference frequency forces start to significantly impact the motions of the structure. When the difference frequency between wave components matches the roll natural frequency, the structure experiences a significant roll motion which is also termed as second order roll. This paper describes the theory and numerical implementation behind the calculation of second order forces and motions of any general floating structure subjected to waves. The numerical implementation is validated in zero speed case against the commercial code OrcaFlex. The paper also describes in detail the popular approximations used to simplify the computation of second order forces and provides a discussion on the limitations of each approximation.

  • The paper describes an approach for estimating unsteady flow rate through oil hydraulic pipelines and components in real time. Recently we have proposed following three unsteady flow rate measurement approaches; RIFM, QIFM and TPFM, in which hydraulic pipeline dynamics are made use of. In this paper, we firstly propose new approaches, i.e, an interpolation and an extrapolation methods in combination with RIFM and TPFM. In the interpolation method, unsteady flow rate at the arbitrary internal location along the pipeline between two points for measuring the two point pressure can be estimated. In this paper, the accuracy and dynamic response of interpolation method are mainly experimentally investigated in detail.

  • The automation system oriented as one of the second year automation projects for the small and medium sized enterprises(SME) was developed for the improvement of the production rate and cut the required manpower in the field of the relay which is one of the small electric components used in various industrial fields. The objectives of this study are not only improving the international competition of the relay itself but also partially solving the technical and financial problems featured by common bottlenecks of the SME for efficient assembly automation. For the purpose of these objectives, several topics are studied as followings. - Analyzing the adjustment process and determining the specification of the automation system. - Determining the layout for the automation system to meet the determined specification. - Detail design of the automation system for relay adjustment and inspection. - Control system design - Automation system development and performance test.

  • The automated chemical analysis shop floor are developed for the environmental pollution problems in our chemical analysis center. This shop floor have the several equipments include weight, pour, dry, heater, boiler, mixture, spectroscopy etc. And the material handling components are made up by the stored stack, conveyore, turntables, robot etc. Computer simulation has been an important tool for these complete design problem. We have designed the arangement of chemical equipments and material flow systems by using the simulator "AutoModII". "AutoMoII" is one of the advanced simulator, CAD-like drawing tools with a powerful, engineering oriented language to model control logic and material flow. The result is the modeling of the chemical analysis system in accurate, three dimensional detail. We could designed the set able layout and scheduling system by using the AutoMoII simulator. • The purpose of this study is to develop a cultural products design of korean image using fabrics. The study is carry out in literature research methods and make sample product. We examine existing researches about cultural product design development to understand developed items, materials, and design directions. The brainstorming method and the established literature researches were used to obtain the design components of Korean image. A cultural products design was developed into the decorative structural details. The results can be summarized as follows: Korean image is pure, passive, gentle, small, and lasting life-force at weeds and wild flowers. Korean form is rounded curve and soft silhouette as streamy, not exaggerate. Korean color is not a finishing treatment, non-dyed natural color, or pastel, light greyish, and dull tone. Korean textile is a natural materials as linen, ramie, and coarse silk. Final sample products are table supplies, home goods and bed goods applying the sewing method of tuck, quilting, top-stitching, patch work, applique and embroidery.

  • This paper investigates the noise reduction scheme in tractor cabin by using various steps of experiment. The experiments were performed in the field as well as in the lab to facilitate the detail test procedure. Some of the test results were compared with computational results. Several noise sources and paths were identified including the engine compartment (cooling fan and timing gear cover), hydraulic system and its components (hoses, tubes and there mount) and structural characteristics of the cab, window, mounting bracket and machine frame including steps. Throughout the several design changes, cab noise level was reduced from 80.2dBA to 74.8dBA.

  • This study intends to develop an evaluation model which could be used as an effective tool for criticizing the model house of multi-family housing. The evaluation model has been developed based on the theoretical framework suggested by previous results of research related on hosing design, which comprises the following four components: 1) the paradigm of future home and life-style, 2) marketing effects of housing developer, 3) goals and principles of housing design, and 4) results of user-preference study. In this study, an evaluation model was suggested as a preliminary form which would be modified in detail after series of tests in the field. The evaluation model will be used provide standardized criteria for the quality of model houses, and eventually help to improve the quality of multi-family housing design by balanced information from theorist, user and developer.

  • This paper deals with multiresolution analysis of wavelet transform for partial discharge(PD), both corona and surface discharge. Multiresolution analysis was used for performing discrete wavelet transform. PD signals was decomposed into "approximation" and "detail" components until 4 levels by using discrete wavelet analysis. In this paper, daubechies family is adopted for the research of the characteristics of PD signals. The results show that in corona discharge the segment 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 values of defined variable is increased with discharge process, so phase distribution is characterized by 210~330 ranges. In case surface discharge in expoxy insulator inserted, defined variable values is fairly symmetric discharge pattern because coupled both corona and dielectric bounded discharges. We can confirmly discriminate the type PD source. the type PD source.
