Various stakeholder's expectations and constraints are to be efficiently resolved into a program consensus prior to the beginning of its substantial design processes. This study focuses on the analysis of the stakeholder's expectations in determining the design requirements at the initial stage of space exploration programs including Naro launcher and currently on-going KSLV-II program. Naro program seems to unilaterally account for the government expectations of accelerating program phase speed without making any efforts to converge various expectations from related sectors. The planning of Naro launcher is also found lack of the concept of operations (ConOps), which is of critical importance by envisaging the operational applications of end products. Similarities are found in KSLV-II program regarding the lack of implementation for stakeholder's expectations. Moreover, the government plan for KSLV-II disclosed without considering all expectations and other comments. The increase in design conflicts and program uncertainties would be unavoidable, if the government plan for KSLV-II would be insisted. It is required to modify the government plan and to establish the ConOps with the convergence of stakeholder's expectations at this early stage of the program.

Recently kriging model has been widely used in the DACE (Design and Analysis of Computer Experiment) because of prominent predictability of nonlinear response. Since DACE has no random or measurement errors contrast to physical experiment, space filling experimental design that distributes uniformly design points over whole design space should be employed as a sampling method. In this paper, we examine the maximum entropy experimental design that reveals the space filling strategy in which defines the maximum entropy based on Gaussian or exponential. The influence of these two correlation functions on space filling design and their model parameters are investigated. Based on the exploration of numerous numerical tests, enhanced maximum entropy design based on exponential correlation function is suggested.
Space-born remote sensing camera systems tend to be developed to have very high performances. They are developed to provide extremely small ground sample distance, wide swath width, and good MTF (Modulation Transfer Function) at the expense of big volume, massive weight, and big power consumption. Therefore, the camera system occupies relatively big portion of the satellite bus from the point of mass and volume. However, the camera systems for lunar exploration don't need to have such high performances. Instead, it should be versatile for various usages under various operating environments. It should be light and small and should consume small power. In order to be used for national program of lunar exploration, electro-optical versatile camera system, called MAEPLE (Multi-Application Electro-Optical Payload for Lunar Exploration), has been designed after the derivation of camera system requirements. A ground model of the camera system has been manufactured to identify and secure relevant key technologies. The ground model was mounted on an aircraft and checked if the basic design concept would be valid and versatile functions implemented on the camera system would worked properly. In this paper, results of design and functional test performed with the field campaigns and air-born imaging are introduced.
Separation between computation and communication in system design allows the system designer to explore the communication architecture independently of component selection and mapping. In this paper we present an iterative two-step exploration methodology for bus-based on-chip communication architecture and memory allocation, assuming that memory traces from the processing elements are given from the mapping stage. The proposed method uses a static performance estimation technique to reduce the large design space drastically and quickly, and applies a trace-driven simulation technique to the reduced set of design candidates for accurate Performance estimation. Since local memory traffics as well as shared memory traffics are involved in bus contention, memory allocation is considered as an important axis of the design space in our technique. The viability and efficiency of the proposed methodology arc validated by two real -life examples, 4-channel digital video recorder (DVR) and an equalizer for OFDM DVB-T receiver.

In this paper, we introduce a new design environment for efficient multiprocessor system-on-chip design space exploration. The design environment takes a process network model as input system specification. The process network model has been widely used for modeling signal processing applications because of its excellent modeling power. However, it has limitation in predictability, which could cause severe problem for real time systems. This paper proposes a new approach that enables static analysis of a process network model by converting it to a hierarchical synchronous dataflow model. For efficient design space exploration in the early design step, mapping application to target architectures has been a crucial part for finding better solution. In this paper, we propose an efficient mapping algorithm. Our mapping algorithm supports both single bus architecture and multiple bus architecture. In the experiments, we show that the automatic conversion approach of the process network model for static analysis is performed successfully for several signal processing applications, and show the effectiveness of our mapping algorithm by comparing it with previous approaches.
Every year new tall buildings are being conceived, designed, and built with new schemes. Thus it is important to explore the factors that affect tall building design. Thus it is important to explore the tall building design factors. The planning and design of tall buildings require different criteria than those that exist in regular size buildings. Tall buildings are uniquely expressed by their structural systems where exterior esthetic and requirements of space drive the form and composition of the structural systems. Therefore the exploration of design factors is the key to achieve optimum building systems. Optimization as mentioned here is associated with the efficiency of the different building systems. To achieve an optimal system, there is a need for an understanding of the factors that affect on overall tall building design such as planning module, building function, lease span, floor-to-floor-height, building height (aspect ratio), structural system, environmental systems. In this paper a statistical approach will be used and will be based on data collected from the practice through a rigorous survey taken. This information is tabulated and analyzed. The major target of investigation will be lease span related to space requirement in the tall building planning. Factors related to lease spans, such as function, floor-to-floor height, planning module, building height, overall plan dimension, and plan ratio (building geometry), will be looked at carefully. IN conclusion, this approach of optimization can introduce a preliminary design guideline for tall building projects. The purpose of the paper should shed some light on the optimum tall building design criteria.
This research has been carried out with the objects of sporting goods shops to find out what structure of those shops raises more interest from customers. The tracking eyes on the objects which are the same but seen to have different structures has revealed the followings. Customers' visual appreciation of Reverse left/right Images (11.1) was found to be higher than that of Original Images (10.6). Furthermore, the reverse left/right image of the space also was found to attract more interest from customers, which led them to have longer observation. The below is about the interpretation of the spatial exploration by observation time and the appreciation of its visual content in line with the experiment objects of selling spaces. The longer the space was observed, (1)the higher the expansive searching of space was, (2)the more spots were observed as if they did not know what to see after they first observed at early hours, (3)later (in the time range of 64~73 seconds) they came to look at the spots in which they got interested, (4)and then again they suddenly got lost what to see. When the change of observation characteristics by time range is reviewed, it can be seen that the searching of original images is changed from Divergent Feature to Convergent Feature when the observation time increases from the early stage of observation to the later. On the contrary, the reverse left/right images were found to have the opposite searching features, that is, from convergent exploration to divergent exploration. These findings show that the reverse left/right images of the sporting goods shops, which were the experiment objects, have more factors attracting customers' attention and interest and that it is the very shop-structure which makes customers have better visual appreciation of those shops.

An optimal interplanetary trajectory is presented for Human Outer Planet Exploration (HOPE) by using an advanced magnetoplasma spacecraft. A detailed optimization approach is formulated to utilize Variable Specific Impulse Magnetoplasma Rocket (VASIMR) engine with capabilities of variable specific impulse, variable engine efficiency, and engine on-off control. To design a round-trip trajectory for the mission, the characteristics of the spacecraft and its trajectories are analyzed. It is mainly illustrated that 30 MW powered spacecraft can make the mission possible in five-year round trip constraint around year 2045. The trajectories obtained in this study can be used for formulating an overall concept for the mission.
A simulation tool for design space exploration of a real-time reconfiguration system was developed in this paper. We described an algorithm for a partial real-time reconfiguration to utilize already existing configured functional units and applied it to H.263 encoder application. This scheme allows us to find a starting configuration for the further optimization without actually building a prototype.
