  • This paper presents a structure of the searcher using a diversity in array antenna systems operating in the cdma2000 1x signal environments. The new technique exploits the fact that the In-phase and quadrature components of interferers can respectively be viewed as an independent gaussian noise at each antnna element in most practical cdma signal environments. The proposed PN acquisition scheme is a singles-dwell PN acquisition system consisting of two stages, that is, the searching stage and the verification stage. The searching stage independently correlates the receiver multiple signals with PN generator of each antenna element for obtaining the synchronous energy at the entire region. Then, the searching results of each antenna element are non-coherently combinind. The verification stage compares the searching energy with the optimal threshold, which is predesigned in the lock detector, and decides whether the acquisition is successful or fail. In this paper, we analyzed the effect of tile diversity order to determine the mean acquisition time. In general, it is known that the mean acquisition time significantly decrease as the number of antenna elements increases. But, as the diversity order goes up, the enhancement of the performance is saturated. Therefore, to decrease the mean acquisition time of the searcher, we must design the optimal array antenna systems by considering the operating SNR range of the receiver, the probability of detection $P_D$ and that of false alarm $P_{FA}$ . The Performance of the proposed PN acquisition scheme is analyzed in frequency selective Rayleigh fading channels. In this paper, the effect of the number of antenna elements on PN acquisition scheme is shown according to the probability of detection $P_D$ and that of false alarm $P_{FA}$.

  • The power management integrated circuit(PMIC) for CCD image sensor is presented in this study. A CCD image sensor is very sensitive against temperature. The temperature, that is heat, is generally generated by the PMIC with low efficiency. Since the generated heat influences performance of CCD image sensor, it should be minimized by using a PMIC which has a high efficiency. In order to develop the PMIC with high efficiency, the input stage is designed with synchronous type step down DC-DC converter. The operating range of the converter is from 5V to 15V and the converter is controlled using PWM method. The PWM control circuit consists of a saw-tooth generator, a band-gap reference circuit, an error amplifier and a comparator circuit. The saw-tooth generator is designed with 1.2MHz oscillation frequency. The comparator is designed with the two stages OP Amp. And the error amplifier has 40dB DC gain and $77^{\circ}$ phase margin. The output of the step down converter is connected to input stage of the charge pump. The output of the charge pump is connected to input of the LDO which is the output stage of the PMIC. Finally, the PMIC, based on the PWM control circuit and the charge pump and the LDO, has output voltage of 15V, -7.5V, 3.3V and 5V. The PMIC is designed with a 0.35um process.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of Interactive Metronome (IM) training on postural control and hand writing performance of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Methods : Participant was a third grade elementary school student diagnosed with ADHD. ABA design was used and a total of 30 sessions were held for 3 sessions every week for a total of 10 weeks. In the intervention period, IM training was conducted for 40~50 minutes before intervention for writing, and the writing task was carried out. We evaluated the handwriting legibility and speed. Before baseline A and within a month after A' phase, Clinical Observation of Motor and Postural Skills (COMPS) was evaluated to examine the changes in postural control of the student. Results : After the IM intervention, the postural control of the student improved in the score of slow movement, finger-nose touching, and asymmetrical tonic neck reflex. The handwriting legibility and speed has also tended to increase during the intervention period, but it has not significantly changed. Conclusion : This study could be used as an evidence that the IM training aimed at postural control and handwriting ability could enhance the ability to improve postural control and thereby provide fundamental knowledge for future studies.

  • $Zn_{1-x}Co_x$ Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework (ZIF) (x = 0~0.05) were prepared by the co-precipitation of $Zn^{2+}$ and $Co^{2+}$ using 2-methylimidazole, which were converted into pure and Co-doped ZnO nanoparticles by heat treatment at $600^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. Homogeneous Zn/Co ZIFs were achieved at x < 0.05 owing to the strong coordination of the imidazole linker to $Zn^{2+}$ and $Co^{2+}$, facilitating atomic-scale doping of Co into ZnO via annealing. By contrast, heterogeneous Zn/Co ZIFs were formed at $x{\geq}0.05$, resulting in the formation of $Co_3O_4$ second phase. To investigate the potential as high-performance gas sensors, the gas sensing characteristics of pure and Co-doped ZnO nanoparticles were evaluated. The sensor using 3 at% Co-doped ZnO exhibited an unprecedentedly high response and selectivity to trimethylamine, whereas pure ZnO nanoparticles did not. The facile, bimetallic ZIF derived synthesis of doped-metal oxide nanoparticles can be used to design high-performance gas sensors.

  • Control of plasma processing methodologies can only occur by obtaining a thorough understanding of the physical and chemical properties of plasmas. However, all plasma processes are currently used in the industry with an incomplete understanding of the coupled chemical and physical properties of the plasma involved. Thus, they are often 'non-predictive' and hence it is not possible to alter the manufacturing process without the risk of considerable product loss. Only a more comprehensive understanding of such processes will allow models of such plasmas to be constructed that in turn can be used to design the next generation of plasma reactors. Developing such models and gaining a detailed understanding of the physical and chemical mechanisms within plasma systems is intricately linked to our knowledge of the key interactions within the plasma and thus the status of the database for characterizing electron, ion and photon interactions with those atomic and molecular species within the plasma and knowledge of both the cross-sections and reaction rates for such collisions, both in the gaseous phase and on the surfaces of the plasma reactor. The compilation of databases required for understanding most plasmas remains inadequate. The spectroscopic database required for monitoring both technological and fusion plasmas and thence deriving fundamental quantities such as chemical composition, neutral, electron and ion temperatures is incomplete with several gaps in our knowledge of many molecular spectra, particularly for radicals and excited (vibrational and electronic) species. However, the compilation of fundamental atomic and molecular data required for such plasma databases is rarely a coherent, planned research program, instead it is a parasitic process. The plasma community is a rapacious user of atomic and molecular data but is increasingly faced with a deficit of data necessary to both interpret observations and build models that can be used to develop the next-generation plasma tools that will continue the scientific and technological progress of the late 20th and early 21st century. It is therefore necessary to both compile and curate the A&M data we do have and thence identify missing data needed by the plasma community (and other user communities). Such data may then be acquired using a mixture of benchmarking experiments and theoretical formalisms. However, equally important is the need for the scientific/technological community to recognize the need to support the value of such databases and the underlying fundamental A&M that populates them. This must be conveyed to funders who are currently attracted to more apparent high-profile projects.

  • The CFL linearisation chip which is one of key devices in ultra-narrowband mobile radio transmitter using CQPSK digital modulation method is designed and implemented with $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The reduced size and low cost of transmitter are available by the use of direct-conversion and CFL ASIC chip, which improve the power effi챠ency and linearity of transmitting path. In addition, low power operation is possible through CMOS technology The performance test results of transmitter show -25 dBc improvement of IMD level at the 3 kHz frequency offset and then satisfy FCC 47 CFR 90.210 E emission mask in the operation of CFL ASIC chip. At that time, the transmitting power is about PEP(Peak-to-Envelope Power) 5 W. The main parameters to improve the transmitting characteristic and to compensate the distortion in feed back loop such as DC-offset, loop gain and phase value are interfaced with notebook PC to be controlled with S/W.

  • It is now common practice to utilize the quadrature RF coils to improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) System. In addition, to make such an available SNR improvement, it is mandatory to use a well-designed quadrature coupler, which facilitates a perfect 3-dB coupling and quadrature-phase shift. However, the four ports matching condition has to be well considered during the RF excitation and the signal detection period. This work investigates the effects of such a mismatching condition (especially, due to patient) from the analysis, simulation, and real implementation and firstly proposes dynamic loading technique for a quadrature coupler and transmitting/receiving switch module to minimize a patient mismatching and enhance a system reliability. Also, we designed and implemented the quadrature coupler and transmitting/receiving switch module using microstrip. As a result, the SNR of our MRI system using the microstrip quadrature coupler and transmitting/receiving switch module with dynamic load increases 3 dB compared with the old one using USA quadrature switch. Also, the power capability of quadrature coupler and transmitting/receiving switch module is 5-kw peak power. Considering power loss and reduction of size, we used a RT/duroid 6010 substrate with high permittivity and for simulation we use Compact Software.

  • Mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) is the most common malignant salivary gland tumor which compromises about 6$\sim$8% of all tumors followed by the adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) and adenocarcinoma. Most deaths from salivary carcinomas are caused by recurrent or metastatic lesions that are resistant to conventional therapy. Therefore, knowledge of cellular properties and tumor-host interactions that influence the vascular metastasis is important for the design of more effective therapy of salivary carcinomas. Neoangiogenesis is essential for tumor growth, which is postulated to be fundamentally dependent on the induction of stromal neovascularization. However, how neovascularization takes place in live tissue has not been fully established, especially in recruitment and differentiation of endothelial cells in the salivary gland tumors. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a heparin-binding, dimeric polypeptide growth factor known to exert its mitogenic activity specifically on endothelial cells. VEGF has been shown th be directly involved in angiogenesis, which in essential for the pathogenesis of many solid tumors. von Willebrand factor (vWF) is a large multimeric protein synthesized by megakaryocytes and endothelial cells that enable platelets to adhere to exposed subendothelium and, as well, to respond to changes in the blood flow. Recent studies suggest that increased levels of vWF correlate with progression of disease, metastasis, or survival time and thus may have a prognostic significance. vWF is explained as an acute phase proteins which is increased in cancer or as a result of increased endothelial cell synthesis associated with tumor-induced angiogenesis. Due to adhesive properties of vWF, its increased concentrations may also contribute metastasis of tumor. In this study, we determined the mRNA expression of VEGF and vWF in salivary ACC, MEC and pleomorphic adenoma by in situ hybridization. As a result, stronger expression of VEGF and vWF was seen in salivary ACC and MEC which has more invasive nature than the salivary benign tumor.

  • The planning stage of an architectural project has much more significant effects on the cost or outcome of the project than other stages of the project. In addition, the importance of architectural planning has been further increasing according to the recent trend of construction projects becoming larger in scale and more complex. In spite of this, the current situation is that the planning stage work is not being systematically managed. Accordingly, the purpose of this study was to develop a BIM-based simulation system for providing support during architectural planning stage such as spatial planning & review, cost review, project owner requirements management, etc. It is easy to review various alternatives using this system that allows not only the modeling of space object modeling but also the instantaneous review of spatial area & layout, cost, etc. based on object information. In addition, it can be used as a communication tool with the project owner as it provides the visualized information and quantitative data of the building model, and the information created through this system can be delivered to the following stage for usage. It is thought that using this system, the entire project work including the architectural planning stage can be supported and even contributing to the advancement of architectural process.
