The purpose of this study is to present the direction for effective public environment design by becoming aware of the social, cultural and historical values that are inherent to the specific regions once again. Concept of regions' sense of identity, regions' resources and regionality were identified as a means based on the basic cityscape plan and guideline for public design. Sample city was analyzed by extracting the regionality elements, and the results are as follows. First, appropriateness of the direction for the public environment design based on the regional identity was confirmed. The need to establish regional identity in the cityscape plan is specified when it comes to the basic goal, strategy and direction. Second, public environment design should be planned within the context of the cityscape. It is necessary to improve with integrated plan by setting up the consistent goal, direction and detailed guideline based on the basic concept of cityscape plan. Third, 'design city' requires the development of the unique design and planned techniques based on the harmony with the existing resources. It is necessary to uncover the powerful design elements that are exclusive to specific regions, and to search for differentiation and visualization to form consensus. Public environment based on regional identity will improve if the above mentioned research results are used as the basic data when it comes to the implementation of public environment design.

As the structure of a mobile phone becomes thin to catch up with a slim product trend, the reliability of a LCD module is on the rise as a big issue for a product design. A drop test is the most basic and important verification method for a mechanical quality control but it requires much time and cost during a product development process. Thus many manufacturers have considered design guide lines using CAE and simulation for more effective usage of limited resources on the market. In this paper, the Maximum Principle Stress of a LCD glass panel is calculated on the basis of explicit FE Analyses method and input conditions are determined according to the general test standard. The design guideline for reliability improvements are suggested on the basis of the results of FE Analysis.

By comparing the survey and the actual situation at hand, the results showed that the lowest floor slab, wall construction joints, and floor expansion joints were the most prone to leakage. A waterproofing design method in underground parts of apartments is proposed to prevent leakage in underground of apartments. Further research is required for the establishment of this detailed design and construction guideline in regards to this study.

Lately, a guideline for seismic design of electric substation facilities has been newly prepared and issued. The guideline adopts a new simplified dynamic analysis technique called "pseudo-resonance method" from the design code of Japan. The method can effectively consider resonance effect of structural system during earthquake motion. However, reliability and practical applicability of the method have not been fully guaranteed under the different seismic and engineering situations in Korea. This paper presents a validation study of the pseudo-resonance method for practical seismic analysis. For this purpose, various parametric studies have been performed using recorded earthquake motions and idealized substation equipment models. The results showed that the pseudo-resonance method can be effectively used for the practical seismic design of substation facilities in Korea.

해상교통관리 방법 중에서 국내외적으로 혼잡한 해역에서의 해상교통 흐름을 정류하여 통항선박의 해상교통 안전성을 향상시키는 방법 중 주로 이용되고 있는 것은 항로 설정 및 통항분리대의 설정이다. 항로 및 통항분리대의 설정 시 지침이 되는 설계지침 가운데 국내외적으로 항로 설계지침은 존재하지만 통항분리대에 대한 설계지침에 대한 언급은 어느 문헌에도 없어 전문가의 주관적 판단에 의하여 설정이 되고 있는 실정이다. 현재까지 통항분리대의 설정 시 해양사고의 감소효과에 대한 연구는 다소 있지만, 통항분리대의 설계지침에 대한 연구는 없다. 본 연구는 통항선박의 안전을 위하여 설정되는 통항분리제도에 대한 설계지침을 선박 운항자의 관점에서 본 정량적 수치로 제공하고자 한다. 특히 통항분리대는 많은 선박의 통항을 분리하기 위한 제도이기 때문에 통항하는 선박의 교통용량을 고려하여 설계하였다.

This research examines domestic and oversea's barrier-free design guidelines provided exclusively for children and their implementations in the common spaces of the outpatient clinics in two pediatric rehabilitation hospitals in Seoul. Based on literature review, a checklist was developed to compare various barrier-free design guidelines in consideration of children's accessibility in space. In addition, four spatial areas in the outpatient clinics of the two hospitals were investigated based on the checklist. As a result, the domestic and Japanese guidelines were aiming primarily to all user groups regardless of ages. Whereas in other oversea's guidelines, a number of barrier-free design standards exclusive for children were found in the facility items such as handrail, sink, urine, toilet, water fountain, chair, table, shelve, and so on, throughout the indoor waiting and sanitary spaces. Concerning implementations, most of the items in the indoor passage, waiting, and sanitary spaces of the two hospitals were not sufficiently facilitated enough to meet with the barrier-free design standards exclusive for children. As such, it is recommended to review and improve the current domestic barrier-free design guideline to accommodate various physical and spatial needs of children in all age groups and regardless of disability types, in the design of a pediatric rehabilitation hospital in the future.

Currently, the way of providing housing in Korea has been regarded as public rental housing through large-scale development by the government. However, there is an increasing need for qualitative growth not only in quantitative growth but also in policies, systems, and sustainable design. The purpose of this study is to explore the applicable methods for domestic social housing through the policy and design guideline study of UK social housing which has achieved qualitative growth through diversification of development subject. First, the concept of social housing in the UK and sustainable housing design elements will be examined. Second, the characteristics and policy direction, project background, management and sustainability of five social housing projects over the last 10 years in the UK will be analyzed. In conclusion, in order to achieve the sustainable design of social housing, the construction of the social housing in terms of policy and environment must include safe and eco-friendly design adaptability that can secure local identity and respond flexibly to social change. In addition, the social housing in the UK, which forms a sustainable complex through cooperation between the public and the private sector based on its place and history, can be a guideline for establishing policies and design guidelines in terms of urban regeneration.
