Online Game Lifestyle in Different Cultural Context: Korea and Japan (문화적 맥락과 온라인 게임 라이프스타일: 한국과 일본의 비교)

  • 본 연구는 온라인 게임공간에서 게이머들이 어떻게 서로 다른 가치관과 행동 패턴을 드러내는지를 확인하고 이를 통해 온라인 게임세계의 문화를 이해하고 분석하기 위해 실시되었다. 전 세계에서 가장 많은 게이머들이 활동하고 있고, 한국과 일본에서 동시에 서비스되고 있는 온라인 게임인 〈리니지〉의 게이머들을 대상으로 온라인 설문조사를 실시하여 '라이프 스타일' 분석틀을 이용해서 이들이 게임공간에서 보이는 행동을 분류하였다. 글 결과 한국과 일본의 리니지 사용자들에게서 거의 유사한 세 가지 라이프스타일 패턴이 추출되었으며 한국과 일본에서 라이프스타일에 따른 행동 패턴이 일관적으로 나타나고 있음을 확인하였다. 도한 한국과 일본의 문화적 차이는 각 라이프스타일 프로파일의 극단성과 분포비율에 의해 반영되는 것으로 확인되었다. 일본의 탈사회적 게이머는 한국의 그것에 비해 더 극단적인 반면 전체 응답자 중에서 차지하는 비율이 적었고 게임 세계에서의 사회 경제적 위치도 낮았으며 한국에서는 비교적 적은 비율을 차지하던 싱글 플레이어 유형이 일본에서는 가장 많은 비중을 차지하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 일본의 게이머들은 라이프스타일에 상관없이 대부분이 게임 공동체에 가입하는 반면 한국의 게이머들은 라이프스타일에 따라 공동체 참여율이 달랐지만 전체적인 참여율은 일본에 비해 높았다. 이러한 차이는 일본 게임세계에서 공동체 참여는 기본적인 의무인 반면 한국에서는 현실적인 이익과 직결된 활동임을 시사한다. 또한 게임몰입수준은 한국보다 일본의 리니지 게이머들이 높았다. 아시아 각 국에 한국에서 개발한 동일한 온라인 게임이 확산되어 있는 현황을 고려할 때, 온라인 게이머의 라이프스타일 척도는 한국과 일본뿐만 아니라 대만과 중국, 홍콩, 그리고 미국과 같은 리니지 게임이 서비스되는 모든 국가의 문화적 차이를 이해하고 과학적으로 분석할 수 있는 방법이 될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 의미를 되새기는 것으로 짧은 연구를 시작하겠다. 등은 활성 값이 70% 이상으로 퇴적물 독성이 상대적으로 낮았다. 이중나선 DNA 함량은 28.4 % - 49%로 대조군에 비해서 감소가 크다. 대부분의 정점이 대조군의 30% 내외로 정점 간의 차이는 크지는 않다. 그러나 다른 측정자료와 같이 정점 22에서 18%로 최소치를 나타내고, 정점 2, 12에서 20% 내외의 값을 보인다. 종합적으로 볼 때 오염물질의 유입이 크고, 광양제철 인근 정점 들이 모두 다른 정점에 비해서 낮아서, 퇴적물 독성이 높은 정점으로 조사되었다.hiwo의 광합성 능력은 낮은 농도들에서는 대조구와 유사하였으나, 5 $\mu\textrm{g}$/l의 높은 농도에서는 초기에 매우 낮은 광합성 능력을 보이다가 시간이 경과하면서 대조군보다 더 높은 경향을 나타냈다. 이러한 결과는 식물플랑크톤이 benso[a]pyrene의 낮은 농도에서 노출될 때는 이 물질을 탄소원으로 사용할 가능성이 있음을 시사한다. 본 연구의 결과들은 연안해역에 benso[a]pyrene과 같은 지속성 유기오염물질이 유입되었을 때 내정여부에 따라 식물플랑크톤 군집내 종 천이와 일차생산력에 크게 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 시사한다.TEX>5.2개)였으며, 등급별 회수율은 각각 GI(8.5%), GII(13.4%), GIII(43.9%), GIV(34.2%)로 나타났다.ments of that period left both in Japan and Korea.   • The robot soccer simulation game is a dynamic multi-agent environment. In this paper we suggest a new reinforcement learning approach to each agent's dynamic positioning in such dynamic environment. Reinforcement learning is the machine learning in which an agent learns from indirect, delayed reward an optimal policy to choose sequences of actions that produce the greatest cumulative reward. Therefore the reinforcement learning is different from supervised learning in the sense that there is no presentation of input-output pairs as training examples. Furthermore, model-free reinforcement learning algorithms like Q-learning do not require defining or learning any models of the surrounding environment. Nevertheless these algorithms can learn the optimal policy if the agent can visit every state-action pair infinitely. However, the biggest problem of monolithic reinforcement learning is that its straightforward applications do not successfully scale up to more complex environments due to the intractable large space of states. In order to address this problem, we suggest Adaptive Mediation-based Modular Q-Learning (AMMQL) as an improvement of the existing Modular Q-Learning (MQL). While simple modular Q-learning combines the results from each learning module in a fixed way, AMMQL combines them in a more flexible way by assigning different weight to each module according to its contribution to rewards. Therefore in addition to resolving the problem of large state space effectively, AMMQL can show higher adaptability to environmental changes than pure MQL. In this paper we use the AMMQL algorithn as a learning method for dynamic positioning of the robot soccer agent, and implement a robot soccer agent system called Cogitoniks.

A Study on Production Pipeline for Third Person Virtual Reality Contents Based on Hand Interface (손 인터페이스 기반 3인칭 가상현실 콘텐츠 제작 공정에 관한 연구)

  • This study proposes a third-person virtual reality content production pipeline to provide users with a new experience and presence in a new virtual reality environment. For this purpose, we first create third-person virtual reality content, which includes a story, fun factors, and game characteristic. It consists of a tutorial scene in which a user can pre-learn the proposed interface suitable for a third person different from existing virtual reality content and a content scene that achieves its purpose by using game factors based on the background story. Next, we design an interface suitable for the third-person virtual reality content. This study proposes an interface in which users can interact with a virtual environment or object by using their hand. The proposed interface consists of three steps: character movement, virtual object selection with multiple selection, and 3D menu control using virtual space. Finally, through the survey experiment, third-person virtual reality content produced based on the proposed interface was confirmed to be easily controlled while ensuring high satisfaction.

An Educational Platform for Digital Media Prototype Development: an analysis and a usability study (디지털 미디어 콘텐츠 개발을 위한 교육용 플랫폼의 활용성)

  • The advent of new platforms each year along with the advancement of technology provides a new opportunity for digital media designers to develop creative and innovative contents. This phenomenon affect the same way the students that major in the digital media, and the use of the platforms that is based on the new technology in the development of contents gives a newer and useful opportunity for learning to the students who recently study the digital media area. As the main technology of the recent digital media that attract many students' attention, we are presenting virtual reality display, movement cognition, physical engine and the gesture interface, and developed the consolidated platform based on these four technologies, and designed them in a way that can be more easily implemented in a simpler way. In order to study the efficiency of the platform with the objective of the development of digital media contents, we have developed four different prototype contents, and have measured based on the user's preference, efficiency and satisfaction. In the results of usability evaluation, functionality, effectiveness, efficiency, satisfaction were rated as 'high'. This results shows that the suggested 3D platform environment provides students to develop a rapid prototype fast and easy, and this may have a positive influence on students major in the digital media to conduct creative development research.

  • Many approaches to agent collaboration have been introduced in military war-games, and those approaches address methods for simulation entity (actor) collaboration within a team to achieve given goals. To meet fast-changing battlefield situations, an actor must be loosely coupled with their tasks and be able to take over the role of other actors if necessary to reflect role handovers occurring in real combat. Achieving these requirements allows the transfer of tasks assigned one actor to another actor in circumstances when that actor cannot execute its assigned role, such as when destroyed in action. Tight coupling between an actor and its tasks can prevent role handover in fast-changing situations. Unfortunately, existing approaches and war-game strictly assign tasks to actors during design, therefore they prevent the loose coupling. To overcome these shortcomings, our Role-based Command Hierarchy (ROCH) model dynamically assigns roles to actors based on their situation at runtime. In the model, "Role" separates actors from their tasks. In this paper, we implement the ROCH model as a component that uses a publish-subscribe pattern to handle the link between an actor and the roles of its subordinates (other actors).

Festival Space Design to Change the Value of Sudokwon Landfill Site - 2014 Dreampark Chrysanthemum Festival Basic Plan and Design - (수도권 매립지 가치변화를 위한 지속 가능한 축제 공간 계획 - 2014 드림파크 국화축제 기본계획 및 기본설계 -)

  • This paper offers a landscape design proposal for the 2014 Dreampark Chrysanthemum Festival within the Sudokwon Landfill Site. This site is located at 58 Baeksukdong, Seo-gu, Incheon, and it has an area of approximately $560,000m^2$. Over 1.53million visitors came to this festival on the previous year. This design includes an overall masterplan and a series of planting plans along with a core selection of iconic topiaries. The goal of the design is to create a landscape that improves the value of the place image and local economy as well as celebrates the 2014 Incheon Asian Game. In order to achieve this goal, three design subjects were considered: promoting local pride as a part of Incheon, increasing the aesthetic value of the site based on the brand image, and sustainable placemaking. To promote local pride, the 2km long "Little Incheon" is designed over a wildflower field, which is inspired by Incheon Bridge to give a strong image of the locality. A variety of programs from local gardening participation were introduced to the east part of the site. The design also outlines the vision for the development of Dreampark - a people-oriented gathering place for the entire community with spaces that offer a variety of unstructured recreational and cultural experiences. To increase the aesthetic brand value of the festival, it introduced a variety of wildflower beds scattering through the whole site. It creates a strong brand image for the festival and memories that will encourage visitors to return. Various folktales of Asian countries are displayed by autumn flowers and groundcover plants at the centre of the site, which is the highlight of the festival site. For sustainable placemaking, the design preserves the existing trees and reed beds for wildlife to create natural layers of landscape. In addition, facilities and service centers are designed to be flexible and are centred on the needs of the people using them. Also a festival management scheme was planned in order to operate the site efficiently and economically.

  • This paper describes our experience to design and implementation of a collaborative system framework that allows to develop certain collaborative applications such as 3D animation, computer game, and industrial design. The collaborative system enables users, who located in geographically long distance, to do collaborative work in a single virtual space. The proposed system basically consists of client and server system. The goal of proposed system is to support scalability, portability, and platform independent. In order to achieve these, the server is implemented in Java platform and is adopted to the hybrid architecture which takes the advantages both in centralized and decentralized collaborative system. We construct the server base on its functional characteristics so called User Manager Server (UMS), Session Manager Server (SMS), and Information Server (IS), The UMS manages the users who are taking part in the collaborative operations. The SMS supports the conferencing in the proposed system. The IS provides the connection methods among the UMSs. For user's convenience, we implement the client using Visual C++ in Windows. We also expend the functions of 3D Studio Max to distributed environment by means of the plug-in module, and facilitate the chatting and white board functions as well.

  • In this paper, we implemented the elderly home training contents provide individual exercise prescription according to the user's athletic ability and provide personalized program to the elderly individual. Health promotion is essential for overcoming the low health longevity of senior citizens preparing for aging population. Therefore, the lower body strengthening exercise to prevent falls is crucial to prevent a fall in the number of deaths of senior citizens. In this game model, the elderly are aiming at home training contents that can be found to feel that the elderly are going out of walk and exercising in the natural environment. To achieve this, Kinect extracts a specific bone model provide by the Kinect Sensor to generate the feature vectors and recognizes the movements and motion of the user. The recognition test using the Kinect sensor showed a recognition rate of about 80 to 97%.

Development of Convergence Education Program for Elementary School Gifted Education Based on Mathematics and Science (초등학교 영재교육을 위한 수학·과학 중심의 융합교육 프로그램 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop STEAM program for gifted education by combining educational contents of humanities, arts, engineering, technology, and design into various subjects, focusing on mathematics-science curriculum of elementary school. The achievement standards and curriculum contents of elementary mathematics-science curriculum were analyzed while considering 2015 revised national curriculum. And then, a 16 class-hour convergence education program consisting of 3-hour block time was developed by applying the STEAM model with 4 steps. The validity of the program developed through this process was verified, and four educational experts evaluate whether the program can be applied to the elementary school. Based on the evaluation results, the convergence education program was finalized. As a result of implementing the gifted education program for mathematics-science, students achieved the objectives and values of convergence education such as creative design, self-directed participation, cooperative learning, and interest in class activities (game, making). If this convergence education program is applied to regular class, creative experiential class, or class for gifted children, students can promote their scientific creativity, artistic sensitivity, design sence, and so on.

A Study on Creative Cognition of Language based concept Generation of Game Graphics (언어기반 게임그래픽 디자인 발상의 창의적 인지에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper it is hypothesized that word stimuli that are presented by Google’s search word, would improve the quality of the design solution, so this research examines the effect of related search word stimuli in concept generation and analyzes the results through the processes of creative cognition. In the process of concept generation, words are given as stimuli which are generated through Google's related search and these search words are given by 5 levels. Google search is based on the collaboration philosophy. People's participation and contribution recreate knowledge and information, so these renewed and related search words update in real time by people are used as stimuli. Two problems are provided with related search words. After the design concept generation the results are analyzed by 3 bases: the usage of related search words and those of frequency, creativity, and Finke's 12 Geneplore model. These are the results of the research. Many levels of related search words are used in design concept generation but especially higher levels which are more related to search words are more used than lower levels. The usage of multi words and conjunction with higher levels and lower levels words are observed in creative results. On the creative cognitive processes, it is more creative when using association and mental transformation with the related search words than using the related search words simply. Creative outputs also use conceptual interpretation, functional inference, and contextual shifting of creative cognitive processes of Finke's 12 Geneplore model.
