연극 무대 공간디자인에 대한 수사학적 연구 - 세익스피어 작 "리어왕"의 무대 공간디자인 사례연구를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Rhetorical Expression of Scene Design in Theatre - Focused on the Case Study of the Scene Design of King Lear -)

  • The communication in a play has a dual structure, which is composed of the communications within a play and in a theatre space. This research focuses on the scene design that creates the background or the theme of a play and communicates theme of a play to the audience. A scene design of a theatre has meta-linguistic aspects, which is the image or mood as the theme of a play. The scene design is composed of various design elements of space and objects as the properties of a play. Design elements and the objects are the design languages in various form; plane, three-dimensional, multi-dimensional form. These design languages have the significant meanings as signs like human language. The play works chooses the rhetorical expression to arouse the audience's sympathy. The scene design is completed with rhetorical expression for communication in theatre too. This research defines the category of meanings that design elements of scene design can create and the rhetorical expression of the scene design language. King Lear directed by Robert G. Anderson was analyzed with the category of design elements as a sign and the pattern of the rhetorical expression. The scene design for a play is completed effectively by the rhetorical expression of design elements as the design language for the communication with the audience in theatre.

  • The stage space in theatre for the performance of a play requires two aspects of the physical space for a play and the image as the background or the theme of a play. This research focuses on the scene design that creates the background or the theme of a play and communicates it to the audience. The scene design is composed of various design elements of space and objects as the properties of a play. Design elements and the objects are the design languages in various form; plane, three-dimensional, multi-dimensional form. These design language have the significant meaning as a sign like human language. The scene design is completed with rhetorical expression for communication in theatre.   • The endowed privilege to an established profession acts as an important motivation related to professionalization of occupations. The established profession enjoys cognitive, legal, and economic privilege. This study analyzes the professionalization process of interior design. Specifically, the study evaluates the suitability of the body of knowledge and professional ethos(i.e., protection of citizen's health, safety, and welfare), while analyzing the professionalization of interior design in the United States. The research aims at proposing a reference point for the professionalization of Korean interior design. Utilized data include research paper, court sentencing, and reports published by related professional organizations. The study concludes that 3E's are a means of professionalization of interior design, while separating interior design from interior decorating. In addition, there is no evidence to the protection of citizen's HSW. Rather, it increases service costs and restricts the job opportunities. When the public is not persuaded, the argument related to the necessity of license for the protecting citizen's HSW can be consumed as a mere rhetoric, concealing intentions for formulating a cartel. Thus, this study proposes that the professionalization of interior design may focus on the establishment of identity and body of knowledge, which are specific to interior design.

현대 상업공간에 표현된 디자인코디네이션 관점의 한국성 특성 분석 (Analysis of the Koreanity Expression Properties found in the Modern Commercial Spaces from a Design Coordination Viewpoint)

  • Since Seoul was selected as the world design capital at the end of 2007, the endeavors to modernize the Korean unique beauty is becoming more tangible. Especially, the commercial spaces to be used by the general public and tourists have the value for study in the respect that such spaces for the national iconic images and have a large and far-reaching effect to transmit the national identity. Therefore, this study analyzed the design coordination properties in the Koreanity expression found in the modern commercial spaces. the foundation for the analysis was based on Leonard Koren's work on the arrrangement rhetoric theory, 'Arranging things(2003), and the contents of Korean expression were reviewed with professional jounals. the results are as follows: First, the design coordination properties in the Koreanity expression shown in modern commercial spaces are black-white contrast, natural materials, curved shapes, brevity, and simple beauty. Especially, some elements such as wood, traditional Korean papers, stones, mid-to-low chroma natural colors, checked patterns, and crazy patterns are used with overlapping and it is viewed that it is necessay to more aggressively seek for the disappeared traditional elements in the Korean modeling properties. Second, the concrete images of Korean expressions could be summarized as four adjective image groups, Natural, Subtitle, Gentle and Magnificent.

수사법을 활용한 그래픽 발상툴 연구 (A Study on Using Rhetoric for Graphical Ideation Tools)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 기존의 발상법의 문제점을 파악하여 우리나라 사람들에게 적합한 발상법의 필요성 제시하고 이에 맞는 그래픽 발상법을 도출하는 것이다. 많은 그래픽 디자이너들이 활용하고 있는 발상법(연상 자극법이나 발상전환법, 정보조합법)은 발상과정에서 초기 키워드를 제시하는데 효과적이지만 컨셉까지 도출해내는 과정에서 어려움이 있다. 컨셉으로 발전시키기 위해서는 핵심 키워드 도출도 중요하지만 키워드의 연결 분리, 결합 등의 과정이 중요한 역할을 차지하며 대부분의 발상법이 과정에 대한 구체적 방법을 제시하고 못하고 있다. 또한 대부분의 아이디어 발상법이 영어권에서 개발되어 전파되었기 때문에 단어위주의 사고를 하는 영어권 문화에는 적합하지만 서술 위주로 사고하는 우리나라 사람에게는 언어 사고의 차이점을 고려하지 못하고 있어 단계 별 발상에 한계를 지니고 있다. 본 연구는 기존에 발상법에 의하여 도출된 키워드를 보다 쉽게 연결, 분리, 결합 등을 위한 과정을 만들기 위해 4가지 가설을 제시하고 논증하는 방식으로 본 발상법의 가치를 증명하고 이러한 가설에 입각하여 발상법설계 제시함으로써 우리나라 사람들의 정서에 적합한 발상법을 도출하였다. 본 발상법은 서술 표현에 강한 우리나라 사람들에게 적합하도록 수사법을 활용하였다.

The Effects of Photo Decoration Cues on Online Consumers' Affective Responses in Distribution Science

  • Purpose: This study to seek to answer two research questions in distribution science: what photo decoration cues in online grocery stores could be identified? Could photo decoration cues significantly effect on the affective perception and behavioral intention of consumers? Research design, data, and methodology: his study conducted a laboratory experiment with a 2×2×2 factorial design to validate the proposed research model and test our proposed hypotheses. Research design, data and methodology: Two stages experiments were adopted in this study, among 360 voluntaries who have had an experience of online grocery shopping, 331 valid data had been collected and analyzed using MANOVA and PLS-SEM algorism. Results: (1) both reflective surface and complementary goods layout lead to visual appeal and shopping enjoyment; (2) contrast color usage positively impacts on visual appeal while does not significantly affect shopping enjoyment; (3) consumers' affective responses positively impact attitudes toward product and store which in turn lead to purchase intention and store loyalty. Implications for research and practice are discussed. Conclusions: Using the media richness theory, visual rhetoric theory and visual design literature as the theoretical foundation, the study provides a solid foundation to comprehend the impact of photo design artifacts on consumers' affective responses when online consumers shopping online for fresh grocery.

2014 베니스 비엔날레 건축전에 나타난 환유적 리얼리즘 (The Metonymic Realism of the 2014 Venice Biennale of Architecture)

  • 2014 Venice Biennale of Architecture, presented by general director Rem Koolhaas, has shown the distinct difference between his present displays and past displays. Under the theme of FUNDAMENTALS and ABSORBING MODERNITY, Rem Koolhaas has developed his own unique way which is a research-oriented display technique to explain the difference at the exhibition. The purpose of this study is to define a research-oriented display technique as realism rhetoric for the opened dialectic and identify its aspect of a methodic approach. This report investigated not only Rem Koolhaas's thought and theoretical approach through his work but also the comparison of between his present and past displays. His display is based on the constellation of Central Pavilion, National Pavilions, and Arsenale display and reflected the reality of architecture in self-deception through the metonymical interaction of various facts and records. Rem Koolhaas called it the composition of contradiction. In his work, the spatial situation which is the present has been made with the intervention of historical events and has revived the reality of architecture. Also, the present is a montage of the strict control of architecture, the isolation from the architecture itself, and the autonomic communication with other fields. Finally, as a result of his work, Rem Koolhaas has shown that his display is not the end of phase but a phase of creation.

문제중심학습과 신업체 현장실습 연계를 통한 효과적인 PLM 교육에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Problem-Based Learning with Industry Co-operative Program for Effective PLM Education)

  • Generally, a PLM education program in university consists of lectures of theory, software lab and software development raining as an advanced subject. Most industries want more than these, such as practical problem solving capabilities, teamwork skills and engineering communications including human relationship, rhetoric, technical writing, presentation and etc. Problem-Based Learning is a problem-stimulated and student-centered teaming method, and an innovative education strategy for collaborative and self-directed learning by applying real world problems. Education paradigm changes from "teaching" to "learning" accomplished by team working, and students are encouraged to develop, present, explain and defense their ideas, suggestions or solutions of a problem, and the "cooperative teaming" proceeds spontaneously during team operations. Co-operative education program is an into-grated academic model and a structured educational program combining classroom learning with productive work experience in a field related to a student's academic or career goals. Based on the partnership between academic institutions and industries, students are engaged in real and productive "work" in the industry, in contrast with merely observing. In this paper, PBL with Co-op program is suggested as an effective approach for PLM education, and we made and operated a PBL-based education course with industry co-op program. The Co-op education in industry accompanied with the PBL course in university can improve practical problem solving capabilities of students, including modeling and management of P3R(Product, Process, resource and Plant) using commercial PLM software tools. By the result, we found this to be an effective strategy for helping students, professors and industries succeed in engineering education, especially PLM area.

  • 본 논문의 연구는 은유라는 문학적인 수사 기법이 영화 속에서 갖는 의미를 찾아내고, 은유와 상징의 차이를 이해하는 데 목적이 있다. 또한 앞으로 영화의 은유에 관한 공부에 참고가 될 가치도 있다. 본 논문은 관련 논문을 읽어서 관련 개념을 정리하고 고전영화를 반복적으로 보고, 그 속에 있는 은유의 표현요소를 찾아낼 것이다. 마지막으로 트루먼 쇼를 보고 분석하고 결론을 찾는다. 관련 연구를 통해 영화 속 은유는 항상 주제, 제목, 대사, 그리고 극의 다양한 측면을 통해 함께 구축된다는 것을 알게 되었다. 화면을 통해 단서를 제공하고 관객의 사고를 유도한다. 은유는 영화의 내용을 향상시키는 데 도움이 될 뿐만 아니라, 관객들에게 영향을 주고 사고를 유도하는 것이 영화에서 가장 중요한 기능이다.

의자 디자인에 관한 고찰 -빅토리아시대로부터 현재까지- (A Study on the chair design -from the Victorian era to the present-)

  • 빅토리아 시대로부터 오늘날까지 수많은 의자들이 디자인되었다. 토네트의 1859년 No.14의자, 라이트의 1904년 등이 높은 의자, 리트벨트의 1917년 적/청의자, 브로이어의 1925년 와실리 의자, 알토의 1932년 파이미오 의자, 이임즈의 1948년 DAR 의자, 피에로 가티의 1969년 사코 의자, 필립 스탁의 1984년 폰 포겔상 의자, 스텀프의 1992년 에어론 의자, 리틀의 1994년 코트 오브 암((oat of Arms)의자 등 - 의자디자인에서 자신의 이론을 표현할 기회를 가졌던 디자이너들의 리스트는 끝이 없어 보인다. 매킨토쉬(1868-1928), 라이트(1867-1959), 알토(1898-1976)와 같은 건축가들은 인테리어와 건축을 위한 예술적 계획속에 의자 디자인을 포함하였었다. 그러나 의자의 제조업자들이 장인의 영역에서 인더스트리얼 프로세스의 영역으로 이동됨에 따라, 디자이너들은 공학적 지식을 배경으로 현대적 제조 기술의 제한요소내에서 혁신적인 의자 디자인들을 개발하였다. 또한, 기능과 구조의 문제를 넘어서 의자의 기본적인 가치는 과거든 현재든 의자의 특성, 아이디어와 가치에 대한 전달에 있으며 의자에 대한 설득력은 그 수사학상의 명확성과 밀접한 관계가 있어 보인다. 의자는 디자이너들이 시각적으로 말하고 개인적 신념을 선언할 수 있는 이상적인 매체가 되어왔다. 미래에도 의자디자인은 비현실적 디자인과 실용적인 디자인 사이에서 계속 고민할 것이며 이것이 바로 디자이너들이 추구하는 유일한 길이라 하겠다.
