Modeling and Analysis of a Biomimetic Foot Mechanism (생체모방 발 메커니즘의 모델링 및 해석)

  • In these days, biomimetic apprioach in the design and control of robotic system has drawn much attention. The human-being and mammals possess their own feet. Using the mobility of their feet, they are able to walk in various environments such as plain land, desert, swamp, and so on. Previously developed biped robots and four-legged robots did not employ such adaptable foot. In this work, a biomimetic foot mechanism is investigated through analysis of the foot structure of the human-being. This foot mechanism consists of a toe, an ankle, a heel, and some springs replacing the foot muscles and tendons. Using five toes and springs, this foot can adapt to various environments. A mathematical modeling for this foot mechanism was performed and its characteristics were observed through numerical simulation.

A Study on the Innovation of an Office Space by Post Occupancy Evaluation (거주후평가(P.O.E)에 의한 오피스공간의 개선방안에 관한 연구)

  • Increasing the user's need in the building facilities, the architects, engineers, and building managers must consider the user's opinion when they plan and construct the buildings. When planning and managing of the buildings, accepting the user's opinion is desirable and indispensible to solve the Problems about the architectural facilities between suppliers and users. To supply the efficient working environments, use the check listing tools and operate the post occupancy evaluation. The real estate and development company is selected for the evaluation. It is renovated in 2000 to fit in its working environment. The process of the evaluation is proceeded both private and group working spaces and facility and management of the buildings with 10 categories. Following the result of Post occupancy evaluation, the users of the building are mostly satisfied with their working environments after the renovation. However, the categories in thermal environment and indoor air and supply for office work need to be improved in advance.

  • A conventional middleware system is optimized for wired computing environments. The wireless mobile devices have several disadvantages of low-speed processors, small memory and narrow bandwidth of wireless network. To overcome those problem issues in wireless mobile environments, middleware and many middleware-related applications have to be changed of the small sized components.   • In this paper, the design of intelligent_advertisement_operation system(IAdOS) based on user's feedback is proposed for mobile environments. The proposed system stores the advertising contents created by the advertising provider and recommends the personalized advertising contents by analyzing the context information, and then feedback information of the advertisements. Since the proposed system which can recommends provide the smart advertisement contents based on personal preference, it is expected to contribute the new service model development of in the field of advertising market.

  • This research aim concerns questioning how we can generate environments suggestive of nature fused with built environments through textiles. Through literature reviews and experiments with available the 3D imaging techniques of Holography, Lenticular and other new technologies. We also have researched towards finding the most effective method for 3D imaging techniques for textile applications. The advantage of the combining technique is to create the possibility of seeing a number of different floating 3D illusory images, depending on the viewing angle. This objective is to produce intriguing textile patterns and images in which the objects and colours change as viewpoints change. Experimental work was carried out in collaboration with professional textile researchers, scientists, artists and designers conducting research in this field.

  • In this study, we propose the multiple VoIP service networks for P2P network environments based on portable internet. We found that voiceservice using portable internet is possible for real time services. After we designe the multiple VoIP service networks for P2P network environments based on portable internet, evaluate the performances. from the performance evaluations, we found satisfactory results and so we can expect the possibility of the portable internet services.

  • An evaluation of the environments in the wandering pathway of the dementia units was carried out. It is revealed that the quality of the environment for the wandering pathway of the sample units was very low. In particular, lacks of social environments in Unit-B and Unit-C, and lacks of orientation aids in all the sample units were shown. Therefore, re-design for the wandering pathway of the sample units is needed. Recommendations for improving the wandering pathway and having appropriate wandering pathway without any abrupt change in existing layout of the sample units were suggested, and the limits of this research is diagnosed. It is also shown that since evaluation categories used in this paper had very closed relationship each other, those evaluation categories can be used in other settings.

  • The spontaneous interoperation is an important characteristic of ubiquitous applications and is closely related with mobility. The mobile components in ubiquitous environments are liable to appear in and disappear from one physical space to another. Because this characteristic certainly influences the structure and behavior of applications, they should adapt themselves to the changed environments by configuring their structure and behaviors. Consequently, developers are faced with the above challenging issue when they design and implement ubiquitous applications. The role concept is an efficient tool to model participant entities, their relationship, and collaboration, so role-based model are appropriate to describe a structure and behavior of software system. But, little attention has been given to reflect characteristics of ubiquitous applications. To tackle the problem, this study considers a ubiquitous application as a software organization which consists of software components and proposes an enhanced role-based application model for supporting spontaneous interoperation.

Location-aware visualization of VRML models in indoor location tracking system

  • For many applications particularly in navigation system, a three-dimensional representation improves the usability of information. This paper introduces 3D Graphical User Interface (GUI) of indoor location tracking system, 3D Navigation View. The application provides users a 3D visualization of the indoor environments they are exploring, synchronized with the physical world through spatial information obtained from indoor location tracking system. It adopts widely used Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) to construct, represent, distribute and render 3D world of indoor environments over Internet. Java, an all-purpose programming language is integrated to comprehend spatial information received from indoor location tracking system. Both are connected through an interface called External Authoring Interface (EAI) provided by VRML. Via EAI, Java is given the authority to access and manipulate the 3D objects inside the 3D world that facilitates the indication of user's position and viewpoint in the constructed virtual indoor environments periodically.

  • According as Internet based EC(Electronic Commerce) has been activated, More requirements for exchanging digital documents are being proposed in B2B(Business to Business) and B2G(Business to Government) environments. However, the documents can not be processed automatically, because the structures of documents in each site(companies, central/local governments) do not match. Therefore, W3C(World Wide Web Consortium) has proposed XML(eXtensible Markup Language) DTD(Document Type Declaration) technology to support structuring documents. The XML DTD technology can support interoperability between EC sites. And, XML DTD based documents can be processed automatically in every sites. They will improve efficiency of services in B2B and B2G environments. In this paper, we propose interoperable DTD architecture and IDEP(Interoperable DTD Exchange Protocol) protocol which supports searching DTDs and exchanging DTDs. This technology can popularize DTDs and digital documents.
