The mycoflora on the hair in 25 samples of each of goats and sheep collected from Libya was analyzed using two isolation methods at $25^{\circ}C$. Seventy species and 3 varieties belonging to 31 genera were collected from the two substrates. The hairs of sheep were polluted with fungi than goat, contained high total counts and number of genera and species. Two species of true dermatophytes were isolated namely Trichophyton rubrum and T. terrestre. Several keratiophilic species were isolated of which Chrysosporium indicum, C. keratinophilum and C. tropicum were the most prevalent. The commonest saprophytes in order of frequency were members of the genera Aspergillus, Penicillium, Emericella, Alternaria and Cochliobolus.

To date, hundreds of fungal genomes have been sequenced, and many more are underway. Recently developed cutting-edge techniques generate very large amounts of data, and the field of fungal genomics in dermatology has consequently evolved substantially. Methodological improvements have broadened the scope of large-scale ecological studies in dermatology, including biodiversity assessments and genomic identification of fungi. Here, we aimed to provide a brief introduction to bioinformatic approaches to fungal genomics in the field of dermatology. We described the history and basic concepts of fungal genomics and presented sequencing-based techniques for fungal identification, including a list of the revised taxa of dermatophytes, as determined by current phylogenetic analysis. Finally, we discussed the emerging trends in fungal genomics in dermatology, such as next-generation sequencing.
This study was carried out to determine the causative agent of dermatophytosis in 7 horses, and to examine the skin mycofloras on 84 healthy and 7 diseased horses which were derived from Jae-ju and Kyonggi, Korea in 1994~1995. Specimens of hair and scale were collected from skin lesions(or normal skins) and inoculated directly on potato dextrose agar and mycobiotic agar. These agar plates were incubated at $25^{\circ}C$ for 2 weeks. Growing fungi were isolated and identified by the morphological and nutritional characteristics. Lesions were found on the hind legs of an infected horses and each lesion was round or oval(1~4 cm) in shape accompanied by severe itching. The causative agent of the 7 equine dermatophytosis was identified as Trichophyton equinum. The skin mycofloras were Penicillium(69.0%), Aspergillus(63.2%), Cladosporium(51.7%), Fusarium(31.0%), Mucor(28.7%), Absidia(18.4%), Alternaria(17.2%), Acremonium(11.5%), Paecilomyces and Phycomyces(6.9%), Rhizopus(5.6%), Trichoderma(4.6%), Scopulariopsis and Trichophyton(3.5%), Beauveria(2.3%), Tritiracheum, Sporothrix, Curvularla, Aureobasidium and Chaetomium(1.2%), and Yeast(27.6%).

Spherical silver nanoparticles (nano-Ag) were synthesized and their antifungal effects on fungal pathogens of the skin were investigated. Nano-Ag showed potent activity against clinical isolates and ATCC strains of Trichophyton mentagrophytes and Candida species ($IC_{80}$, 1-7${\mu}g/ml$). The activity of nano-Ag was comparable to that of amphotericin B, but superior to that of fluconazole (amphotericin B $IC_{80}$, 1-5${\mu}g/ml$; fluconazole $IC_{80}$, 10-30${\mu}g/ml$). Additionally, we investigated their effects on the dimorphism of Candida albicans. The results showed nano-Ag exerted activity on the mycelia. Thus, the present study indicates nano-Ag may have considerable antifungal activity, deserving further investigation for clinical applications.

A two-year-old intact male Labrador retriever was presented with generalized erythema, pustule and pruritus. A skin screening test revealed that there were no fleas but bacteria and dermatophytes were present. Blood testing revealed no remarkable findings. The patient was prescribed systemic medication of enrofloxacin 30 mg/kg once a day and itraconazole 10 mg/kg once a day and topical medication of 2% chlorhexidine shampoo twice a week for 2 weeks. Two weeks after the prescription, aerobic culture confirmed that the bacteria were Leclercia Adecarboxylata and Pseudomonas putida was sensitive to enrofloxacin. Therefore, more medicine was prescribed for 4 weeks to alleviate clinical signs. After six weeks of medication, clinical signs were alleviated and skin screening test revealed no remarkable findings. Bacterial and fungal skin infections are common in dogs. However, there are no reports of Leclercia Adecarboxylata infection even in gastrointestinal tract in veterinary medicine. This is the first report of Leclercia Adecarboxylata infection in dogs. This report proved that Leclercia Adecarboxylata can cause skin problem in dogs.

Out of 210 tinea capitis cases studies, 16 were negative when examined with KOH, among the remaining 194 cases, 123 were males (63.4%) and 71 were females (36.6%) and the age of incidence ranged between 7 and 15 years. Microsporum was the main causal agent being identified in 82 cases (42.3%) and was represented by 5 species among which M. canis was common in Egypt (55 cases, 28.4%). Trichophyton constituted 32% and was represented by 8 species among which T. violaceum was the most common (24.2% of total cases). Candida were isolated from 3.6% of total cases. The 47 species and twenty-five genera from nondermatophyte-cyclohexamide resistant fungi were recovered from the diseased skin tissue. Penicillium and Aspergillus were the most abundant followed by Scopulariopsis, Alternaria, Thermoascus, Chrysosporium and Cladosporium. Studies of the air-borne fungi in-door the hospital wards revealed the occurrence of 57 species belonging to 28 genera, among which Aspergillus flavus, Penicillium chrysogenum, p. corylophilum, A. niger, Tritirachium rosum and Alternaria alternata were the most common. Results of the out-door experiments were basically similar to those of the in-door experiments.
The discovery of ideal therapeutics of fungal infections are remain a major problems of several mycoses. The antifungal activities of a new antifungal antibiotic named Siccanin and Azalomycin-F studies in vitro against some various species of fungi especially dermatophytes. The antifungal activity tests were performed according to the tube-dilution method and all subcultures were incubated at room temperature for 14 days. Results were obtained as follows: 1. All of the Candida spp. were grow on the various concentration of Siccanin tested but Azalomycin-F were growth inhibited at 7mcg-10mcg per ml. 2. Trichophyton spp. and Microsporum spp. were inhibited for growth at 2mcg-6mcg per ml. and 3mcg-5mcg per ml. concentration of Siccanin and 1mcg-4mcg per ml. of Azalomycin-F. 3. Deep mycoses and some saprophytes were grow on the all tested concentration of Siccania and Azalomycin-F.
This study was carried out to assess the antidermatophytic potential of the ethyl acetate(EtOAc) extract of the marine isolate of Aspergillus sp.. The fungus was isolated by serial dilution, and was identified Aspergillus sp.. The EtOAc extract of the fungus was examined to evaluate the antidermatophytic efficacy against the fungal pathogens infecting human skin using the disc diffusion and MIC(minimum inhibitory concentration) determination methods. The EtOAc extract($5{\mu}l\;disc^{-1}$) was considered to have the antidermatophytic activity based on the inhibition percentage of the mycelial growth of the fungi tested such as Trichophyton mentagrophytes KCTC 6085, Microsporum canis KCTC 6591, Microsporum canis KCTC 6348, Trichophyton rubrum KCTC 6352, Microsporum canis KCTC 6349 and Trichophyton mentagrophytes KCTC 6316. The percentage of the inhibition ranged from 54% to 81, and the MIC obtained was 62.5, 62.5, 250, 125, 125, and $125{\mu}g\;ml^{-1}$, respectively. The extract had a strong detrimental effect on the spore germination of the tested skin infectious pathogens. These findings strongly support the role of the ethyl acetate extract as a potential antidermatophytic agent.
Superficial fungal infections with dermatophytes, nondermatophyte molds, or yeasts are treated primarily with topical and/or systemic antifungal agents. Additional or alternative treatment modalities, particularly energy-delivering modalities, however, are used widely to induce fungicidal effects via selective photothermal reactions. In addition to light- or laser-based devices, plasma therapy also has antifungal properties. This report describes a Korean male patient with mycologically confirmed tinea pedis that was treated effectively with two sessions of nitrogen plasma treatment at one-week intervals using a plasma delivering system. Nitrogen plasma was prepared by loading a 0.28-ml inert nitrogen gas/pulse that was activated by a microwave generator. The other treatment settings were a nozzle diameter of 5 mm, pulse energy of 0.75 J, pulse duration of 7 msec, and two passes. One week after the first session of nitrogen plasma treatment, the patient exhibited marked reductions in scale and inflammation. One month after the final treatment, no clinical features of recurrence were found, and successive potassium hydroxide testing revealed negative results.
