In this paper, reactive shearing structural intensity method is extended to damping patches placement on outer panels of outdoor unit of air-conditioner to reduce its structural borne noise. The structural intensity is calculated from the normal velocities of structures that are measured by using a laser scanning vibrometer, and $textsc{k}$-space (wave-number domain) signal processing is used to obtain the spatial derivatives in formulation of structural intensity. This method is applied to the outdoor unit of air-conditioner on shaker-exciting mode and operating mode. and then damping patches are placed over area of high reactive shearing structural intensity for reducing the radiated noise. Experimental results show the largest reduction of sound pressure level of an outdoor unit by appling small damping patches to optimal position.

Effective recommendation of similar business groups is a critical factor in obtaining market information for companies. In this study, we propose a novel method for enhancing similar business group recommendation by incorporating derivative criteria and web crawling. We use employment announcements, employment incentives, and corporate vocational training information to derive additional criteria for similar business group selection. Web crawling is employed to collect data related to the derived criteria from 'credit jobs' and 'worknet' sites. We compare the efficiency of different datasets and machine learning methods, including XGBoost, LGBM, Adaboost, Linear Regression, K-NN, and SVM. The proposed model extracts derivatives that reflect the financial and scale characteristics of the company, which are then incorporated into a new set of recommendation criteria. Similar business groups are selected using a Euclidean distance-based model. Our experimental results show that the proposed method improves the accuracy of similar business group recommendation. Overall, this study demonstrates the potential of incorporating derivative criteria and web crawling to enhance similar business group recommendation and obtain market information more efficiently.
Purpose - Since 1990, the sudden stop in capital flows has caused the economic crisis. The purpose of this research is to suggest the policy measures to mitigate the risk of the sudden stop in capital flows. To this end, we examine the theoretical framework and analyze the case study for countries which are faced with the sudden stop. Also we examine the structural problems of the foreign exchange market in Korea and derive the policy implications to prevent the sudden stop. Research design, data, and methodology - The criteria of whether the sudden stop in capital flows occurs are based upon Calvo et al. (2008). In case the proxy variable for the balance of capital account decreases from the average by over twice standard deviation, we determine that the sudden stop occurs for that country. The sample period is from January 1990 to December 2008, as in Calvo (2014). The sample countries are 17 developed countries and 19 emerging market countries, which are different from those of the previous papers as Agosin and Huaita (2012), and Calvo (2014). When the exchange market pressure index(EMPI) is deviated from the average by over three times standard deviation, we determine that the foreign exchange market is unstable for that country. Results - We find that the characteristics of the sudden stop in capital flows are the bunching or contagion among countries, the rapid drop in real effective exchange rate, and the huge decrease in foreign exchange reserves. Many countries tried to increase foreign exchange reserves and regulate capital flows. Also the foreign exchange market in Korea are found to be the volatile exchange rate, the vulnerable external debt and careless management of the foreign exchange derivatives transaction risk. Conclusions - To lessen the risk in the sudden stop of capital flows, this research suggests the some useful policy measures. To enhance the foreign exchange and distribution market stability, we should improve the price mechanism of exchange rate, hold the appropriate level of foreign exchange reserves, prevent excessive inflows of foreign exchange and promote sound transactions of foreign exchange derivatives.
Old films or photographs usually have damages from physical or chemical effects, and the damage and digitalization make stain, scratch, scribbling, noise, and digital drop out in frames. Damages include global damage and local damage, and it is well known that local damage restoration is a main factor for improving image quality. Previous researches have focused on impairment localization (esp. for line scratch impairments) and restoration techniques for line scratch, dirt, blob, and intentional scratch. Inpainting is a key technique using partial derivatives to restore damages in images. It does not show good quality for the complex images because it is based on finite order for partial derivatives, and it takes much time complexity. In this paper, we present a modified inpainting scheme, where we use Sobel edge operator's and angle to compute isophotes, and compare our scheme with Bertalmio's scheme. We experiment our scheme with two old Korean films, and Simulation results show that our scheme requires smaller time complexity than Bertalmio's scheme with comparable reconstructed image quality.

The optimization techniques have been applied to versatile engineering problems for reducing manufacturing cost and for automatic design. The deterministic approaches or op5imization neglect the effects on uncertainties of design variables. The uncertainties include variation or perturbation such as tolerance band. The optimum may be useless when the constraints considering worst cases of design variables can not be satisfied, which results from constraint variation. The variation of design variables can also give rise to drastic change of performances. The two issues are related to constraint feasibility and insensitive performance. Robust design suggested in the present study is developed to gain an optimum insensitive to variation on design variables within feasible region. The multiobjective function is composed to the mean and the standard deviation of original objective function, while the constraints are supplemented by adding penalty term to original constraints. This method has a advantage that the second derivatives of the constraints are not required. A mathematical problem and several standard problems for structural optimization are solved to check out the usefulness of the suggested method.

The flow induced by the oscillatory motion of a solid body is important in a number of practical problems. As the solid boundary oscillates harmonically, there is steady streaming motion invoked by the Reynolds stresses, which could cause extensive migration of the fluid during a period of fluid motion. We here analyzed the flow in a square cavity with an oscillating top wall for the parameters which make the time derivatives and the convective terms equally important in the entire cavity flow. The full Navier-Stokes equations are solved by the second-order time accurate Momentum Coupling Method which is devised by the authors. The particular numerical scheme does not need subiteration at each time step which is usually a required process to calculate the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. The effect of two parameters, the Reynolds number and the frequency parameter, on the oscillatory flow has been investigated.

A shape design sensitivity of the elastic deformation due to a change of traction boundary condition is presented. The solution of governing equations for a linear elasticity problem is obtained by finite element method and the traction boundary is defined by design variables. The performance functional to be considered involves both the domain and boundary integral. Variations of geometry can be defined as design velocity. Using material derivative concept and adjoint equations, the design sensitivity is derived by Lagrange multiplier method. For a given geometry of a structure, the change of traction boundary is described by the tangential component of the design velocity only. The final result for the shape design sensitivity is formulated as the boundary integral form, the integrand is defined by tangential component of design velocity and first order derivatives of parameters. Numerical implementation of design sensitivity is discussed and is compared with the difference of the actual values.

A general procedure for the design sensitivity analysis of structural dynamic problems has been presented in frame of the FRF-based substructuring formulation. For a system response function, the proposed method gives a parametric design sensitivity formula in terms of the partial derivatives of the connection element properties and the transfer matrix of the subsystems. The derived design sensitivity formula is applied to an engine mount system. An interior noise problem in the passenger car is analyzed using the FRF-based substructuring method and the proposed formulation is adopted to study the response variations with respect to the dynamic characteristics of the engine mounts and the bushes. To obtain the FRFs, a finite element model is built for the engine mount structures, and test data is used for the trimmed body including cabin cavity. The comparison of sensitivities derived by the proposed method and the finite difference method shows that the proposed method is efficient and accurate. The proposed sensitivity analysis method indicates effectively the most sensitive location to the interior noise among the engine mounts and the bushes.

The 3-D FEM analysis for simulating the stamping operation of planar anisotropic sheet metals with arbitrarily-shaped tools is introduced. An implicit, incremental, updated Lagrangian formulation with a rigid-viscoplastic constitutive equation is employed. Contact and friction are considered through the mesh-normal, which compatibly describes arbitrary tool surfaces and FEM meshes without depending on the explicit spatial derivatives of tool surfaces. The consistent full set of governing relations, comprising equilibrium equation and mesh-normal geometric constraints, is appropriately linearized. The linear triangular elements are used for depicting the formed sheet, based on membrane approximation. Barlat's non-quadratic anisotropic yield criterion(strain-rate potential) is employed, whose in-plane anisotropic properties are taken into account with anisotropic coefficients and non-quadratic function parameter. The planar anisotropic finite element formulation is tested with the numerical simulations of the stamping of an automotive hood inner panel and the drawing of a hemispherical punch. The in-plane anisotropic effects on the formability of both mild steel and aluminum alloy sheet metals are examined.

A sensorless speed control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) which utilizes MRAS based scheme to estimate rotor speed and position is presented. Considering an error between real and estimated rotor position values, a state equation of PMSM in the synchronous d-q reference frame is represented. A state equation of model system which uses estimated speed and nominal parameter values is expressed. To minimize the errors between the derivatives of d-q axis currents of real and model system, MRAS based adaptation mechanisms for the estimation of rotor speed and position are derived. On the other hand, for the acceleration stage of motor just before the sensorless operation, an acceleration scheme using only d-axis current control is proposed. To show the validity of the proposed scheme, experimental works are carried out and evaluated. During acceleration stage, the acceleration scheme using only d-axis current command shows good acceleration performance and controlled current level. For the sensorless operation, at low speed (5% of rated speed), a good performance is observed.
