무인기 정책환경과 무인기 산업의 구조 변화 (Regulatory environment and structural change of UAV industry)

  • The UAV industry grows rapidly and the civil UAV market which preparing the commercial services is expected to accelerate the growth. The new opportunities from the technological progress and deregulation show two kinds of organizational structure in the UAV industry. The companies from the traditional aircraft industry and the other sectors like IT industry have different organizational structures of the value chains, supply chains and the regulatory policies which related with them. And from the isomorphism theory it is predicted that those structures will change and converge to certain similar homogeneous features as the UAV industry matures. The matured form will be resulted by the new regulatory policies about the airspace, certifications and the operation rules about the UAV and the future market size and growth speed are also affected by them.

Proteolytic cleavages of MET: the divide-and-conquer strategy of a receptor tyrosine kinase

  • Membrane-anchored full-length MET stimulated by its ligand HGF/SF induces various biological responses, including survival, growth, and invasion. This panel of responses, referred to invasive growth, is required for embryogenesis and tissue regeneration in adults. On the contrary, MET deregulation is associated with tumorigenesis in many kinds of cancer. In addition to its well-documented ligand-stimulated downstream signaling, the receptor can be cleaved by proteases such as secretases, caspases, and calpains. These cleavages are involved either in MET receptor inactivation or, more interestingly, in generating active fragments that can modify cell fate. For instance, MET fragments can promote cell death or invasion. Given a large number of proteases capable of cleaving MET, this receptor appears as a prototype of proteolytic-cleavage-regulated receptor tyrosine kinase. In this review, we describe and discuss the mechanisms and consequences, both physiological and pathological, of MET proteolytic cleavages.

Metabolic features and regulation in cell senescence

  • Organismal aging is accompanied by a host of progressive metabolic alterations and an accumulation of senescent cells, along with functional decline and the appearance of multiple diseases. This implies that the metabolic features of cell senescence may contribute to the organism's metabolic changes and be closely linked to age-associated diseases, especially metabolic syndromes. However, there is no clear understanding of senescent metabolic characteristics. Here, we review key metabolic features and regulators of cellular senescence, focusing on mitochondrial dysfunction and anabolic deregulation, and their link to other senescence phenotypes and aging. We further discuss the mechanistic involvement of the metabolic regulators mTOR, AMPK, and GSK3, proposing them as key metabolic switches for modulating senescence.

Labor Market Regulation and MNE's Production: Evidence from OECD Countries

  • Purpose - This paper examines the impact of labor market regulations on FDI and the production of foreign firms. Design/methodology - We use an index of employment protection along with data on the FDI and production of foreign affiliates that are provided by the OECD. Findings - The empirical results show that strict employment protection discourages both the production and initial entry of foreign firms, with its impact on production being larger than that on the initial entry decision. The result is robust to various specifications in which instrumental variable estimations are used by applying a unionization rate and a severance pay for redundancy dismissal as instruments, respectively. Therefore, policymakers should not limit their focus to tax incentives, cash grants, and relaxation of market regulations, but they should also extend their attention to labor market deregulation and decreasing non-wage cost to attract more foreign firms into their countries. Originality/value - This paper attempts to answer the question on the impact of employment protection rules on the foreign firm's decisions regarding production as well as initial entry.

  • Currently, Korean real estate market has experienced cooling down of the business because of the global economic crisis which resulted from the subprime mortgage lending practice. In response, the Korean government has enforced various policies at the base of deregulating real estate speculation, such as increasing Loan to value ratio (LTV) in order to stimulate housing demand and supply. However, these policies seemed to result in deep confusion in the Korean housing market. Furthermore, analysis for housing market forecasting, especially international financial crisis on Korean real estate market, has been partial and fragmentary, therefore comprehensive solution and systematical approach is required to analyze the real estate and real estate financial market including causal nexus between market determining factors. In an integrated point of view, applying the system dynamics modeling, the paper aims at proposing Korean Real Estate and Mortgage market dynamics models based on fundamental principles of housing market determined by supply and demand. We also find the impact of deregulation policies focusing on mortgage loan which is the main factors of policies.

  • This study is to find out how Korean teenagers think about mobile payment system. In the case of mobile payment using such a smartphone, a simple payment service is currently being implemented in Korea through deregulation of Active X and public certificates at the government level to provide users with more convenient financial services. This study conducted a pilot test to find out what they think about mobile payment service for high school students in Busan. As a result, Korean teenagers, especially high school students, responded very positively to the mobile payment service.

The Birth and Development of High-Rise Buildings in Japan: Focusing on the Historical Development of Height and Floor Area Ratio Regulations

  • This paper reviews the history of the birth and development of the skyscraper in Japan, mainly from the perspective of the legal system, and presents the following points: 1) After 1919, building height was limited to 31 m or less, which continued after the war and defined the skyline of Japan's major cities; 2) The 31-meter height limit became a problem during rapid economic growth. With the development of tall building construction technology, the height limit was eliminated, and skyscrapers were born in Japan in the 1960s; 3) Later, the number of skyscrapers increased more rapidly in the post-bubble period after the collapse of the bubble economy in the 2000s than in the boom years of the 1980s, when the floor-area ratio was relaxed for economic uplift and urban renewal. The number of skyscrapers increased rapidly against the backdrop of the deregulation of the floor-area ratio.

AEO MRA가 무역비용에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of AEO MRA on Trade Cost)

  • This study analyzed that the effects of AEO MRA benefit on decreasing of trade cost and the strategies for expanding of trade. It uses the system GMM for effective solutions of endogenous matter with lagged dependent variable. In terms of the result of analysis, AEO MRA has a positive effect on decreasing of trade cost, especially this study proved the result of previous study AEO MRA expanded the trade through improving the time required for customs clearance and deregulation of non-tariff barriers. In conclusion, this study proposes the policy fo AEO MRA by analyzing the trade cost of AEO MRA by using the system GMM.

항공사의 상용고객우대제도 변경에 관한 법적 고찰 - 미국 연방대법원의 Northwest, Inc. v. Ginsberg사례를 중심으로 - (Legal approach on uniliteral changing membership in the airlines' frequent flyer program)

  • 무한경쟁시대를 맞이한 항공업계에서 고객의 충성도를 높이고 신규 고객을 유치하기 위하여 상용고객우대제도는 아주 기본적인 마케팅 툴로 이용되고 있다. 초기에는 단순히 탑승마일리지만을 적립해 주는 형태였지만, 최근에는 동종 유사 업체와의 제휴를 통하여 마일리지 적립 형태가 다양화 되었고 마일리지 이용하여 탑승권뿐만 아니라 물건을 구입하는 등 사용할 수 있는 곳 또한 많아졌다. 따라서 소비자는 항공 마일리지를 단순히 덤의 개념으로 인식하지 않고, 자신이 쌓은 일종의 재산으로 생각하고 있다. 그러나 항공 마일리지 적립 액이 많아지면서 항공사에 부담이 되기 시작하자 항공사가 일방적으로 상용고객우대제도의 변경으로 적립된 마일리지를 소진하려고 하면서 고객과의 분쟁 또한 증가하고 있다. 항공사의 마일리지 프로그램과 관련하여 2014년에는 미국 연방대법원에서 판결이 있었는데, 이 판결에서 미국 연방대법원은 항공규제완화법을 근거로 항공 마일리지 멤버쉽 변경 등을 합당하다고 주장한 항공사의 손을 들어준 바 있다. 반면 미국과 같이 항공사에게 '운임, 항로, 서비스에 관한' 자율성을 보장해주는 실정법이 없는 국내에서는 항공사 약관의 불공정성 여부를 판단하여 분쟁을 해결하고 있다. 이러한 분쟁은 항공 마일리지를 일종의 재산이라고 인식하고 있는 소비자와 단순한 마케팅 수단이라고 인식하고 있는 항공사간의 기본적인 시각 차이에 있다고 할 것이다. 오늘날의 항공산업은 글로벌 경쟁이 특히나 치열한 분야중 하나이다. 아시아 지역의 항공수요가 점점 많아지고 있는데다 저가 항공사들의 신규 진입, 항공시장의 지역별 통합 등 항공시장이 점차 다양한 구조적 변화를 보이고 있다. 이제는 항공시장에서 기본적인 프로그램인 상용고객우대제도의 운용에 있어서도 새로운 관점이 필요한 때다.

수요-공급의 동시모형을 통한 공로 화물운송특성분석 (The Analysis of the Road Freight Transportation using the Simultaneous Demand-Supply Model)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 지금까지의 수요 또는 공급의 한 측면만을 중심으로 하는 일방향적 단일모형에서 벗어나 화물운송의 수요-공급을 동시에 고려하는 모형을 정립하고 이를 활용하여 국내운송특성을 분석하고 정책적 시사점을 도출하는 것이다. 이를 위해 기존의 단일모형의 한계를 논하고 이를 개선할 수 있는 수요-공급 동시모형을 도입하여 국내화물운송 실적자료를 바탕으로 모형을 개발하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 국내공로화물의 특성을 분석하고 정책적 시사점을 도출하였다. 본 연구에서 개발된 모형은 공차거리율의 감소로 인한 적재효율의 증가는 적재용량(공급량)을 안정적으로 증가시키고, 이는 다시 물동량을 증가시키는 과정을 잘 묘사하고 있다. 이러한 상호조정 인과관계로부터 정부의 규제완화 조치가 장기적 관점에서 운송시장의 효율성을 재고시킬 것으로 예상할 수 있다. 그런데 물동량의 증가에 따른 공차거리율 감소 폭보다 적재용량의 증가에 따른 공차거리율 증가폭이 훨씬 큰 것으로 분석되어, 조정에 따른 단기적 비효율을 유발하는 것으로 나타나 물류인프라 구축과 단기적 조절 정책이 필요함을 시사하고 있다. 덧붙여 영세업자의 난립에 따른 소비자 보호를 위한 보완책과 함께 수요와 공급의 시장조절 능력에 따라 단계적으로 규제를 완화에 나아가는 것이 바람직한 것으로 분석되었다.
