We introduce a depth scaling strategy to improve the accuracy of frequency-domain elastic full waveform inversion (FWI) using the new pseudo-Hessian matrix for seismic data without low-frequency components. The depth scaling strategy is based on the fact that the damping factor in the Levenberg-Marquardt method controls the energy concentration in the gradient. In other words, a large damping factor makes the Levenberg-Marquardt method similar to the steepest-descent method, by which shallow structures are mainly recovered. With a small damping factor, the Levenberg-Marquardt method becomes similar to the Gauss-Newton methods by which we can resolve deep structures as well as shallow structures. In our depth scaling strategy, a large damping factor is used in the early stage and then decreases automatically with the trend of error as the iteration goes on. With the depth scaling strategy, we can gradually move the parameter-searching region from shallow to deep parts. This flexible damping factor plays a role in retarding the model parameter update for shallow parts and mainly inverting deeper parts in the later stage of inversion. By doing so, we can improve deep parts in inversion results. The depth scaling strategy is applied to synthetic data without lowfrequency components for a modified version of the SEG/EAGE overthrust model. Numerical examples show that the flexible damping factor yields better results than the constant damping factor when reliable low-frequency components are missing.
Traditionally. the wedge factor of universal wedge is regarded as constant for small depth. Recently. some investigators have reported the beam hardening effect from wedged beam even in small depth. suggesting that the wedge factors are depth dependent values. Here authors performed the study to determine the proper depth of measurement for wedge factor. In this study. we have measured the wedge factors (nominal wedge angles 15, 30, 45, and 60) not only for depth maximum. but also for each depth, for several energies (4MV, 6MV, 10MV, and 15MV) of various machines (Varian, Siemens, Mitsubishi). And we have analysed the treatment depth of 614 patients who had been treated with wedged field at our hospitals to determine of the proper depth of the measurement point for wedge factor. More than 60% of the patients are treated at the depth of 8cm$\pm$2.5cm with the wedged field for various machines. energies, and wedge angles. The results of the wedge factor measurements show that the systemic error of average 2% (maximum 4%) might be inherently originated for the patients who had been treated with wedged field if we adapt the depth maximum as the wedge factor determination depth due to beam hardening effect. But we could achieve average error less than 0.5% (maximum within 1.7%) if we use 8cm for wedge factor measurement point We conclude that the measurement depth point for wedge factor should be 8cm in order to deliver more accurate dose to target for Korean patients. instead of depth maximum.
The depth effect on bending strength of Japanese larch structural lumber was investigated by using the published data of two different depth lumbers with the same length. Depth effect parameters were derived from Weibull's weakest link theory and compared to the results from other researches. Depth effect on bending strength was significant for No.1 and No.3 lumber, but not insignificant for No.2 lumber. Calculated value of the depth effect adjustment factors was 0.21, 0.11 and 0.22 by lumber grade, respectively. These results were similar to those results from previous researches and supported depth effect on bending strength of lumber. An apparent depth adjustment factor has been proposed to 0.2 in the literatures. Based on this study, depth adjustment factor was considered to 0.2 as a conservative optimum design value that should be incorporated in domestic building code (KBC) for structural lumber.

Applying metric(distance) factor as weighting to spatial syntax is known to not contribute to the explanatory power for the human movement behavior as compared to the geometric(angle) factor according to the negative results of several related studies. However, Kim & Piao (2017) assumed that there is not a problem of the metric factor itself but a problem of the way of applying the metric factor as weighting, and presented a new possibility of the metric factor as weighting by proposing and verifying the methods of applying the metric weighting, which are different from the existing ones. The purpose of this study is to propose advanced methods of applying the metric weighting to space syntax, and to verify whether they contribute to the improvement of explanatory power of space syntax analysis. In this paper, we propose functions for combined depth of distance-step that combine the distance-weighted depth function with the step depth function and apply them to axial segment analysis to check the improvement of explanatory power of them.

In this paper, stress concentration factor and distribution of slotted or notched plate which is subjected to uniaxial tensile load are studied. The experimental measurements have shown the following; (1)The stress around slot or notch of slotted or notched plate which is subjected to uniaxial tensile load is state of biaxial stress, which is mainly varied to notch radius and depth. (2)The stress concentration factor around slot or notch is mainly influenced by the .sigma.$_{yy}$ , it is varied with notch radius and depth. (3)For the notched specimen, there is a notch depth where stress concentration factor is maximum. On the other hand, for the slotted specimen, stress concentration factor increases as the notch depth increases. An investigation of the relationship between fracture and stress concentration factor due to the slot or notch will be presented on the later paper, for reference.

This study was performed to investigate the minimum safety factor of embankment in consideration of seismic coefficient by the psuedo-static analysis The variables were cohesion, the internal friction angle, angle of slope, height of seepage, height of embankment, depth of replacement The results obtained were compared with those by Fellenius method, simplified Bishop method and Janbu method. The results were summarized as follows: 1.The increasing rate of the minimum safety factor with the increasing of cohesion appeared larger in Fellenius method and Bishop method than in Janbu method. And that with the increasing of the internal friction angle appeared the lowest value in Janbu method. The minimum safety factor was influenced larger on the internal friction angle than on cohesion. 2.The variation of the minimum safety factor with the height of seepage at 0m and 5 m was nearly similar to Fellenius method, Bishop method and Janbu method. On the other hand, it was decreased suddenly at 25 m. 3.The minimum safety factor with the height of embankment was decreased remarkably under 10 m with the increasing of seismic coefficient. But, it was decreased slowly more than 10 m. As the height of embankment was low, the influence of cohesion appeared larger. 4.In heigher case of the depth of replacement, the phenomenon of reduction of the minimum safety factor appeared remarkably with seismic coefficient increased. And in lower case of the depth of replacement, the minimum safety factor was similar in Fellenius method and Bishop mehtod. But it appeared larger in Bishop method and Janbu method than in Fellenius method with the depth of replacement increased. 5.As the cohesion and the internal friction angle were large, the phenomenon of reduction of the minimum safety factor with the increasing of seismic coefficient appeared remarkably. Also, the influence of seismic coefficient in minimum safety factor appeared larger with the soil parameter increased. 6.When the seismic coefficient was considerated, investigation of the structural body on the slope stability appeared profitably in Fellenius method and Janbu method than in Bishop method.
Currently. exchanges of industrial workers between countries are more active than ever. and the problem of AIDS in connection with the operation of preventive educational programs has reached a point where the issue cannot be limited to native people alone any more. Based on such judgement. this research has been carried out to provide basic study materials by grasping the latent factors representing the difference between countries in the levels of right knowledge. attitude and behavior with respect to AIDS maintained by workers who have grown in different social and cultural living background. During the period from Apr. 1. 1995 to Jun. 30. questionnaires. written both in Korean and English, were distributed to Korean and Malaysian employees working at certain Korean video manufacturers. and the results of replies. given by 80 workers who were analyzed through matched sampling· method where ages and sex matched by country. were used as the research materials. The gathered materials were analyzed through the SPSS package t-test. ANOVA. factor analysis and multiple stepwise regression methods. and the following results were obtained. 1. The 2 extracted latent factors could be named 'common. social' knowledge factor and 'in-depth. psychological' knowledge factor respectively. 2. The percentile points of 'external. social' knowledge factor. in the case of Korean workers. howed 90.0 at average. a figure 13.75 points higher than those of Malaysian workers. 76.25. On the other hand. the percentile points of the 'in-depth. psychological'knowledge factor showed 70.80 at average in the case of Korean workers. a figure 7.47 points lower than those of Malaysian workers. 78.33. Meanwhile. the difference in percentile points between the 2 latent factors was 8.54 at average. indicating that the points of 'in-depth. psychological' knowledge factor was lower than those of the 'external. social' knowledge factor. 3. As for Korean workers. the percentile points of the 'in-depth. psychological' knowledge factor showed higher points in office workers than in non-office workers. and such variables exhibited in the position of workers can explain the $7\%$ of the latent factor. The percentile points of the 'in-depth. psychological' knowledge factors. in the case of Malaysian workers. showed higher points in groups who had religion than in groups who did not. and higher points in groups who obtained information from newspapers than in groups who obtained from televisions or other sources; and with these 2 variables. $26\%$ of this latent factor can be explained. The results. of analysis described so far suggest that while Korean workers possessed general level of knowledge on AIDS. they had low level of practical knowledge as far as its depth is concerned. and that they had social prejudice on patients as well as on the AIDS infection route. In addition. because the overall knowledge level of Malaysian workers. is lower than that of Korean workers. it suggests that separate programs intended for Malaysian workers are required prior to executing integrated programs.

This study establishes the initial data to develop a well-fitted underwear pattern by categorizing and analyzing torso types based on body measurements of women in their 50s and 60s. The results are as follows: First, the statistical assessment on the body measurements showed meaningful differences among age groups in twenty seven items (except for bust breadth, hip width armscye depth, hip depth, neck base circumference, armscye circumference, chest circumference, hip circumference, bishoulder length, shoulder length, front interscye, back interscye, weight and inclined angle of left shoulder). Women in their early 50s and late 60s (respectively) showed the highest values in height and depth. Second, there are five body factors according to the results of the factor analysis: Factor 1 (circumference, width, and depth of upper body measurements) - the degree of body depth and obesity, Factor 2 (height and vertical length) - The vertical torso length, Factor 3 - the size of shoulder, Factor 4 - the vertical upper body length, and Factor 5 - the size of shoulder angle. Third, the results of the cluster analysis showed that there are four distinctive body types. The largest number of the study subjects was related to Type 3 (30.69%), followed by Type 2 (26.78%), Type 1 (25.84%), and Type 4 (16.69%), respectively. For distribution of age groups by body type, Type 3 was the most common among the 60s group while Type 2 appeared most frequently among the 50s.
