In this paper, Depression is a mental disorder characterized by a lack of enthusiasm and feelings of sadness, which significantly impairs daily functioning. In 2018, there was an increase in book sales in the essay genre, particularly the popularity of "healing essays." This trend is seen as challenging the negative image and prejudices associated with depression. In 2021, a significant rise in the proportion of 20-year-old patients with depression is attributed to factors like job-related stress, interpersonal issues, and financial burdens. Additionally, there is a strong correlation between depression and suicidal thoughts, particularly among individuals who have experienced feelings of depression. Despite the increasing prevalence of depression among young adults, research in this area is lacking. To address this gap, statistical tools such as logistic regression and chi-squared tests are employed. The analysis reveals various independent variables associated with feelings of depression, shedding light on the relationships between these factors.

Methods: We selected 9,550 participants without chronic diseases from a total of 18,104 in the '2009 community health survey in Gyeongnam. They were assessed by using a Korean version of the Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression Scale(CES-D). Those with CES-D scores of 21 or greater were defined as having probable depression. Results: A probable depression were associated in bivariate analysis with gender, age, educational status, monthly household income, marital status, current smoking status, drinking habit, physical activities and body mass index. After adjustment for covariates, probable depression groups predicted a lower status in SRHS. Likewise probable depression groups predicted a higher utilization in outpatient health service. Also probable depression groups predicted a lower score in QOL. Conclusions: Probable depression influence SRHS, outpatient health service utilization and QOL even after adjusting for the socio-demographic, health related factors and chronic medical illness. Programs for prevention and management of depression will be helpful to promote health and QOL.
This study explored the influencing factors on the depression of immigrant school-adolescents. It made use of family factors, school factors, and multi-cultural factors to verify the influencing variables of depression in school grade. First, school violence experience was the most important factor on the affecting depression in elementary school students. Multi-cultural family identity was the main cause of depression in middle school students, and school study difficulty in high school students. Second, major variables on the affecting depression in all groups were identified as social discrimination experience. These results implied the differentiated support by ages was asked for the stable settlement of adolescents. Experience of social discrimination was a common factor raising the level of depression in all groups. Therefore, we should be done active intervention in school environment.
The study on the used the Korean Youth Risk Behavior Web Based Survey to investigate the convergence factors influencing affect the oral health with subjective depression experience of adolescent. The dependent variable included oral health behavior and subjective symptom experience and the independent variable included subjective depression experience. Convergence factors influencing affect the subjective depression experience was significantly higher than those without depression experience were tooth brush times(one day), tooth brush times after lunch and sealant experience among oral health behavior and was significantly higher than those without depression experience were tooth break, pain, periodontal bleeding and bad breath among subjective symptoms. As a result, it appears to the depression experiences related to oral health factor, so it is consider psychological factors to improve the oral health of adolescents.
The purpose of this study is that the blood nutrient indicator in adult women, is the depressive indicator. This study recruited 77 pre-menopausal women, and excluding missing values, 53 (mean age 44.2±6.5 years) blood indexes were statistically confirmed and then analyzed the effect of indexes on the Beck Depression Inventory. The Beck's Depression Inventory(BDI)'s average of the study subjects was 7.6±7.2, and most of the depression symptoms were within the normal range. Only two women were very serious and other two women were serious state. As a result of this study, 21 questions of BDI was classified into 5 sub-factors. Of these, 2 factors were considered physical depression, 1 factor was mood depression, 1 factor was cognitive depression, and 1 factor undecided. As a result of the correlation analysis, triglyceride, LDL(low density lipoprotein) cholesterol and potassium showed statistically significant positive relationship with depressive factors. On the other hand, HDL(high density lipoprotein) cholesterol, sodium and chloride ions showed negative relationship with depressive factors. When multiple regression analysis was performed. Considering the depression factors was dependent variable, and triglyceride, cholesterol, blood sugar, and ketone bodies was considered as independent variables. HDL(high density lipoprotein) cholesterol had a statistically significant negative effect on the depression factor 3. Considering the depression factors was dependent variable, and minerals were considered as independent variables. Potassium had a positive effect, and chloride ions had a negative effect on the depressive factor 3. This study was limited to 77 pre-menopausal women. In the future, post-menopausal women, men, and clinical neurological disorders group will be possible.

Objective : The aim of this study was to investigate the individual and job related factors as risk factors for mental health of firefighters. Methods : The data of 202 fire-fighters was analyzed by using a multinomial logistic regression analysis. All participants completed self-reported questionnaires including demographics (sex, age, work duration), the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire, the Ways of Coping Checklist, the Colleague related traumatic events, the Korean occupational stress scale, the Korean Perceived Stress Scale-10, and the Beck Depression Inventory. Participants were divided into three groups according to the level of stress and depressive symptom scores: Low Stress-Low Depression (LS-LD), High Stress-Low Depression (HS-LD), and High Stress-High Depression (HS-HD). Results : A job related factor-organizational injustice-was a significant factor related to HS-LD, while individual factors such as active coping level and childhood trauma experience and a job related factor-difficult physical environment-were significantly associated with HS-HD. Conclusion : These results imply the need to take both individual and environmental approaches into account when managing the stress and depression of firefighters. More specifically, psycho-education to facilitate active coping strategy and adaptive emotional regulation at the individual level and the improvement of physical work environment of firefighters should be supported.
The purpose of the current study was to examine the effect of psychological factors on caregiver burden and depression among Korean spousal caregivers. 142 spousal caregivers (89 wives, 52 husbands) in Seoul and Incheon City were surveyed to determine the influence of objective factors of the care recipient, demographic of the caregiver, personality dimensions of extroversion and neuroticism of caregiver, social support, and pre-caregiving marital satisfaction on caregiver burden and depression of spousal caregivers. Hierarchical regression was used to determine the influence of the various factors on caregiver burden and depression. Finding suggest that care recipient's activities of daily living(ADL) and caregiver neuroticism predicted caregiver burden, whereas pre-caregiving martial satisfaction and caregiver neuroticism predicted depression. In particular, psychological factors were better predictors of caregiver burden and depression compared with objective factors. Based on the results, the implications, interventions, limitations and future directions for research were discussed about the psychological factors on spousal caregiving.
