After the integration of early childhood education and child care, young children school's teacher qualification conversion training for in-service teachers is necessary. In this study, the subjects and operation modules of teacher qualification training were examined. As a result of the study, it was found that kindergarten teachers without child care teacher qualifications needed 4 subjects and 12 credits, and teachers with only child care teacher qualifications needed 14 subjects and 30 credits. As qualification training institutions, the Department of Early Childhood Education at a 4-year University, the Department of Early Childhood Education at a junior College, and the Korea National Open University were proposed. In the case of kindergarten teachers who do not have a child care teacher, it was found that they could change their qualifications through job training.

Cultural arts education helps in the holistic development of children and enhances their language skills and creative thinking. This type of education not only fosters emotional intelligence, but has also been proven to play a positive role in helping children understand different cultures. Based on these findings, in recent times, interest in cultural arts education has been focused on the importance of experiencing art in childhood and the development of artistic ability. A high standard of cultural arts education is desirable, in which regular classes are held based on the close cooperation of teachers, with extensive knowledge and sense of the cultural arts, and cultural arts experts. Therefore, it is necessary to include extensive cultural arts education in the training of early childhood educators, considering the importance of early childhood cultural arts education. This study suggested ways to improve the academic curriculum and develop plans to enhance the expertise of early childhood teachers in the field of cultural arts by analyzing the academic curriculum of early childhood education courses in 4-year universities in the metropolitan area.

The purpose of this study was to examine the response pattern of children of early childhood (ages 4 to 5) to strangers' luring behaviors that suggest imminent crime. Data were collected from registrants offered by four kindergartens and daycare centers. Individual interviews were performed (N = 100) by using a questionnaire. Results were as follows: First, children of early childhood responded unfavorably to strange adults' kindness and request for aids. However, it was found that they did not make the right decision in relation to strange adults' luring behaviors that lead to crime when family related clues were manipulated. Second, children of early childhood responded favorably to strange adults' luring behaviors that are suggestive of criminal intent when candy, ice cream, and toys were offered. Especially, youngsters were more prone to be deceived by these indices than the older children. Third, older children responded unfavorably to strange adults' luring behaviors that suggest a criminal intent In addition, youngsters did not respond cleverly to strange adults' luring behaviors that suggest a criminal intent while showing a reluctant response.

This study explores the structural relationships between personal factors (young children's self-esteem and language ability) and environmental factors (mother's acculturation, parenting, and teacher's multi-cultural education attitude) on young children's adjustment to early childhood educational institution in multi-cultural families. 150 young children in multi-cultural families of aged 3, 4, and 5, their mothers, and 108 classroom teachers participated in this study. The results of this investigation reveal the following : (1) Mother's integrative acculturation significantly affected mother's parenting. (2) The relationship between mother's acculturation and young children's adjustment to early childhood educational institution in multi-cultural families are significantly mediated by mother's parenting and the young children's self-esteem. (3) Young children's language ability in multi-cultural families significantly affected their degree of adjustment to early childhood educational institution.

The purpose of this study was to investigate early childhood teachers' self-image by metaphoric pictures of occupation. The sample consisted of 311 early childhood teachers in kindergarten or day-care center. Teachers were asked them to match their image of themselves as early childhood teachers with metaphoric pictures of occupation. The major results were as follows. First, kindergarten teachers chose conductor, entertainer, nurse, sculptor, shopkeeper, animal trainer, judge by turns and day-care center teachers chose nurse, sculptor, conductor, entertainer, shopkeeper, judge, animal trainer by turns. Second, the reason for selecting the metaphoric pictures of occupation as their self-image was analyzed into 16 categories.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of gratitude enhancement program for freshman on pre-service early childhood teacher's gratitude disposition, empathic ability, and department satisfaction. Methods: 55 freshmen majoring in early childhood education were participated in this study. Twenty-eight of them were classified as an experimental group and made to go through gratitude enhancement program for freshman. Twenty-seven of them were classified as a control group. The gratitude enhancement program for freshman consisted of lectures on cognitive, affective and behavioral gratitude factors. To verify the effect of this program, the tests on gratitude disposition, empathic ability, and department satisfaction were carried out and the collected data were analyzed by ANCOVA. Results: The result of this study was that the gratitude enhancement program was effective for improving gratitude disposition, empathic ability, and department satisfaction of pre-service early childhood teachers. Conclusion/Implications: This study illustrated the need of gratitude enhancement program and its methodologies for pre-service early childhood teacher's college adjustment and persistence by improving gratitude disposition, empathic ability, and department satisfaction.

The purpose of the present study was to examine the images of children possessed by applicants for the department of early childhood education and find out how the images of children have been changed when the applicants have entered the department from successful applicants. Study subjects were 328 applicants for the department of early childhood education and 25 students who passed the entrance examination and completed the first year. Data were collected by painting metaphors and the contents of the collected data were analyzed. According to the results of analysis, the images of children possessed by applicants for the department of early childhood education were 'beings that require sincerity, love, and attention', 'beings that must be taught and led', 'beings that are liberal and characterful', 'beings that are bright and pure and give happiness', 'beings that have potential for learning and growth' and 'beings that are soft and weak' and when one year had passed after the entrance into the department, the images of children possessed by the students were changed into the subjects of teaching by the students as teachers and images based on developmental knowledge of childhood.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between play experience, playfulness, and grit of pre-service early childhood teachers and to find out the factors that affect grit. For these, a survey was conducted using Google questionnaire targeting a total of 164 students in the 2nd and 3rd year of early childhood education department of colleges in Seoul, Chungnam and Jeonbuk. The results are as follows. First, as a result of analyzing general characteristics and differences by grade of variable General characteristics and differences by grade of variable, it was found that the pre-service teachers' playfulness was slightly higher than the average, and the grit was at the average level. Second, there were some significant correlations between play experience, playfulness, and grit. Third, for grit, it was found that play experience had an explanatory power of about 10% and playfulness about 30%. Based on the above research results, suggestions for grit enhancement programs for pre-service early childhood teachers and follow-up studies were presented.

This study intended to analyze the early childhood education freshmen's academic interest. For this study relationship pre-service early childhood teacher's playfulness and play teaching efficacy. The study subjects were 145 early childhood education students in third grade at K-college in Deagu. They answered the survey regarding playfulness scale and play teaching efficacy scale. The collected data were analyzed by frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 18.0 program. The study finding are as follows. First, the average of playfulness and play teaching efficacy were near at the intermediate-level. Second, playfulness and play teaching efficacy were significantly correlated. Third, when examining the relative effect of pre-service early childhood teacher's playfulness on play teaching efficacy, cheerfulness and improvisation is influential factor in play teaching efficacy.
