Purpose: The purpose this study was to evaluate the marginal fitness of metal copings fabricated using rapid prototyping method and to compare the fitness with copings by conventional method. Then clinical availability of fixed dental prostheses (FDPs) fabricated using rapid prototyping method shall be confirmed based on marginal fitness. Methods: Ten same cases of3 unit FDPs epoxy models (abutment teeth 14 and 16) were manufactured. Each of ten epoxy models were scanned by 3shape D-700 scanner to be designed by experienced technician, and photopolymer 3 unit FDPs were fabricated using rapid prototyping methodand fabricated using Lost wax technique (LW) with same models. Marginal fitness of 3 unit FDPs were measured by silicone replica technique. T-test of independent sample for statistical analysis was executed with SPSS 12.0K for Windows. (${\alpha}$=.05) Results: Significantly higher mean (SD) marginal fitness (P<.000) were observed in the RP group $(95.9(18.0){\mu}m$ compared to the conventionally LW group $(80.1(13.8){\mu}m$. Conclusion: Marginal fitness of LW group showed excellent rather than RP group. However marginal fitness of 3 unit FDPs fabricated by RP method did not get out of clinical allowance value range significantly to allow clinical application.
The 21st centurt, the era of change-space, is requesting us to readjust our education system. In other words, we should renew it by looking back into the past cultivate more advanced ideas. As a matter of fact junior colleges have been considered just as miniture of universities in every way such as curriculum, prossor emploment, school affairs, etc. Therefore we should change our existing education system not to be criticized for the next century. May students are trained for industry as dental technicians in our department of college. We should educate experiment and practice substantially as college professors as well as exert ourselves in developing our abilities to adapt to high diverse industrial technique, putting emphasis on practice more than theory. It is mecessary for us to sufficiently teach the technique to good students and make them display their abilities in order to produce high quality goods. Reinvestment ineducation is a condition precedent. Dental laboratories have just employed the students that graduated from our college. However it's time for a change. They should pay attention to our education and assist us in all respects with the thought of equally educating professional dental technicians together with us. The field practice system is subject to reinforcement so that our students have more opporunities of utilizing the tools and materials for practice. Finally we should not only carry out new reserch more deeply no less than dental technicians who are experienced in business for development of education system but endeavor to meet pratical education by adding what is pratically needed in dental laboratories to the existing education system.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate marginal gap of fixed dental prostheses (FDPs) fabricated by soft metal material with using dental computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) system and to compare gap of its by a conventional method. Ten same cases of study models were manufactured and scanned for digital models fabricating. Ten FDPs were fabricated by soft metal material using dental CAD/CAM (SMB group). Then, ten FDPs were fabricated by cast metal using lost wax technique and casting method (LWC group). Marginal gap was measured by silicone replica technique. Gap was measured by digital microscope (${\times}160$). Mann-Whitney test for statistical analysis was executed (${\alpha}=0.05$). The mean (standard deviations) of marginal gap was $76.5{\mu}m$ (35.2) for the SMB group, and $82.9{\mu}m$ (22.1) for the LWC group. Statistically significant differences were not found between SMB and LWC. As results, FDPs fabricated by soft metal material were clinically acceptable range.
Internal measurement technique has been commonly and classically used to guide down-fractured maxilla by Le Fort I osteotomy into its new position during intraoperative procedure for correlating preoperative model works with surgery. However, It has been challenged now by several authors due to some problems as its inaccuracy in three-dimensional changes at surgery, difficulty to measure during surgery and impossibility of rechecking at the end of surgery etc. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of maxillary movement by external measuring technique and to determine its accuracy between the prediction tracing and a new maxillary position. The results indicate that the external measuring technique was predictable in the vertical, horizontal and transverse change of the maxilla as its prediction, however, it has a tendency to shift the maxilla more anterior and inferior in overall direction than prediction. Post-operative canting difference were mimic, however Ehange of the maxillary dental midline was large and had a right-shifting tendency.1 The precise methods to keep maxillary dental midline as same as prediction and the avoidance of uneven force applied to the mandible for autorotation should be necessary during surgery in use of external measurement technique.
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the shear bond strength by manufacturing the veneering porcelain on the IPS e.max $ZirCAD^{(R)}$ zirconia core, using the layering technique and heat-pressing technique, and to evaluate the clinical stability by comparing to the conventional metal ceramic system. Methods: The Schmitz-Schulmeyer test method was used to evaluate the core-veneer shear bond strength of zirconia core ceramic(IPS e.max $ZirCAD^{(R)}$) and their manufacture recommended two veneering ceramic systems(IPS e.max $ceram^{(R)}$, IPS e. max $ZirPress^{(R)}$). A metal ceramic system(Bellabond $plus^{(R)}$, VITA $VM13^{(R)}$) was used as a control group for the two all ceramic system test groups. The maximum loading and shear bond strength was measured. The average shear strength(MPa) was analyzed with the one-way ANOVA and the Tukey's test(${\alpha}$=.05). The fracture specimens were examined using Microscope to determine the failure pattern. Results: The mean shear bond strengths(SD) in MPa were MBSB control 43.62(2.13); ZBSB 18.65(1.76); ZPSB 18.89(1.54). The shear strengths of the zirconia cores were not significantly different(P>.05). Microscope examination showed that zirconia specimens presented mixed failure, and base metal alloy specimens showed adhesive failure. Conclusion: There was no siginificant different between the layering technique and the heat pressing technique in the veneering methods on the zirconia cores. None of the zirconia core and veneering ceramics could attain the high bond strength values of the metal ceramic combination.
Nowadays, the development of dental scanner and CAD/CAM technology can facilitate the fabrication of hybrid prosthesis. Double scanning technique, scanning a trial prosthesis and master model, made it possible to realize virtual design and simplify the laboratory work. Instead of using the metal or zirconia framework with composite, ceramic or denture tooth, the new high performance polymer Polyetherketoneketone (Pekkton, Cendres+$M{\acute{e}}taux$, Biel, Switzerland) as a framework with Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) veneering teeth (Visio-lign, Bredent, Senden, Germany) was used in this case. This case report showed an acceptable treatment outcome and satisfaction of patient using Pekkton and Visio-lign. However, long term clinical evaluation is needed.
A titanium based screw shaped dental implant was first introduced by Branemark and a treatment protocol where the restoration of edentulous area by connecting abutment after the osseointegration of the titanium surface of the implant and surrounding bone structure has been proposed. Although this protocol is widely accepted as a standard up to date, the healing duration of 3-6 months as well as the need for provisional prostheses during this period present as a major drawback. Immediate loading has been accomplished through the advent of various implant designs, enforced surface treatments, diverse forms of abutment, and delicate surgical techniques together with the increase in demand from the patients. The success rate of the immediate loading technique has been first reported as 85.7% by Dr. Schnitman in 1990 which recently has been reported up to 100% in the case of immediate loading in single tooth by Dr. Kan. To ameliorate the success rate of immediate loading technique, selection of patients presenting a sound bone quality and quantity, acquiring primary stability through delicate surgical techniques and fabrication of prostheses which accounts for biological stabilities should all be taken into consideration. This presentation introduces the understanding of biological stability of immediate loading, various methods for measurement of stability and clinical cases regarding immediate loading technique.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to propose a technique for periodontal biotype modification through thickening of the entire facial aspect using a volume-stable collagen matrix and autogenous subepithelial connective tissue graft (CTG) for the treatment of gingival recession. Methods: Four systemically healthy patients showing Miller class I or class II gingival recession in the mandibular incisor area were included in this study. Full-mouth scaling and root planing procedures were performed at least 4 weeks prior to periodontal plastic surgery. A split-thickness flap with a horizontal intrasulcular incision and 2 vertical incisions was used in cases 1-3, and the modified tunnel technique was used in case 4 for coronal advancement of the mucogingival complex. After the exposed root surfaces were debrided thoroughly, double-layered volume-stable collagen matrix was placed on the apical part of the recession and a subepithelial CTG harvested from the palatal area was placed on the coronal part. The amount of root coverage at 3 months postoperatively was evaluated in cases 1-3, and facio-lingual volumetric changes were analyzed in cases 1 and 2. Results: Healing was uneventful in all 4 cases and complete root coverage was shown in cases 1-3. In case 4, reduction of gingival recession was observed at 3 months after surgery. In cases 1 and 2, a comparison of stereolithographic files from the preoperative and postoperative time points demonstrated that the entire facio-lingual volume had increased. Conclusions: The surgical technique suggested herein, using a volume-stable collagen matrix and autogenous subepithelial CTG, may be an effective method for periodontal biotype modification through thickening of the entire facial aspect for the treatment of gingival recession.

To evaluate the micro-shear bond strength of current adhesive systems to cervical and mid-coronal enamel. Materials and Two commercially available resin adhesives were investigated; a self-etching primer system(Clearfil SE Bond, Kyraray) and a one-bottle adhesive system(Single Bond, 3M) intended for use with the total-etch wet-bonding technique were employed. Two regions of enamel, cervical and mid-coronal regions, were chosen from the buccal surface of extracted molars and were then bonded with each adhesive system and submitted to the micro-shear bond test.(중략)
Panoramic radiographs and computed tomography (CT) play a paramount role in the accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and prognostic evaluation of various complex dental pathologies. The advent of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) has revolutionized the practice of dentistry, and this technique is now considered the gold standard for imaging the oral and maxillofacial area due to its numerous advantages, including reductions in exposure time, radiation dose, and cost in comparison to other imaging modalities. This review highlights the broad use of CBCT in the dentomaxillofacial region, and also focuses on future software advancements that can further optimize CBCT imaging.
