도재 소부용 비귀금속 합금과 티타늄에 적용한 Gold Bonding Agent의 전자현미경적 평가 (SEM/EDS Evaluation of Gold Bonding Agent Applied on Non-precious Alloys and Cast CP-Ti)

  • 본 연구는 금속-도재 수복물 제작에 사용되는 Ni-Cr alloy와 Co-Cr alloy, 그리고 티타늄에 gold bonding agent를 도포하여 Au coating 층을 형성하였다. 각 시편의 절단면을 전자현미경으로 Au coating 층과 porcelain bonder, 그리고 불투명 도재간의 결합을 관찰하였고, 각 계면의 상태를 SEM/EDS 방법으로 조사하였다. 실험에서 사용된 재료와 방법의 범위 내에서 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. Gold bonding agent를 사용하여 형성한 Au coating 층은 미세다공성을 가진 구조로 판단되었다. 2. Au coating 층과 porcelain bonder 그리고 불투명 도재간의 결합은 잘 일어나 보였다. 3. Au coating 층은 도재 소성과정에서 발생하는 산화층의 확산을 제한하는 것으로 관찰되었다.

유리단 국소의치의 교합하중 적용시 이중금관, 어태치먼트 및 RPI clasp 유지장치에 따라 지대치와 의치상에 미치는 응력 비교 (Comparison of Stress of the Abutment Teeth and Denture Base in Distal Extension Removable Partial Dentures Retained Konus Crown, Precision Attachment and RPI Clasp with the Occlusal Load Application)

  • Free-end partial dentures, which are supported by teeth surrounded by dental root membranes and elastic mucous membrane tissues, may cause stress to the abutment teeth due to external force imposed on the denture base, increase the mobility of the abutment teeth, and bring about a change in the periodontal tissue. General retainers used in partial dentures are categorized into clasp, attachment, and Konus crown. Stress imposed on the abutment teeth and mobility of the denture base have relations with the lifetime of a crown and abutment teeth, and have direct relations with the chewing ability. Thus, a need arises to make a comparative analysis of stress of the three direct retainers on the abutment teeth and interpret the mobility of the denture base. This study designed three kinds of removable partial dentures (one kind of attachment partial denture, one kind of Konus crown partial denture, and one kind of clasp partial denture), and fabricated Dentiforms of bilateral partial dentures (Kennedy Class I) with lower left 1st premolar and lower right 1st and 2nd premolars being as the abutment teeth. A strain gauge was installed in the mesial and distal surface of the lowerr left 1st premolar (No. 34) of the fabricated dentiform and in the lower part of the denture base, and installed were a clasp partial denture, an attachment partial denture, and a Konus crown partial denture. Then, the vertical static load of 5kgf and 7.5kgf at the occlusion surface of the lower left No. 6 molar was generated for a total of 20 frequencies of load each using a push-full gauge, and thus a change in the output of the strain gauge was measured. With the respective application of Konus crown, attachment and RPI clasp in the free-end partial denture, surveyed was the distribution of stress imposed on the abutment teeth and the denture base according to the location of occlusion force load so as to come up with the following results. 1. Konus crown and attachment partial dentures generated much stress, and more stress on the abutment teeth than RPI clasp dentures did. Attachment dentures tended to further intensify stress on the abutment teeth than Konus crown dentures did. 2. Attachment dentures and Konus dentures imposed less stress on the denture base than RPI clasp dentures did. There was no stress difference between Attachment and Konus crown dentures. 3. Dentures that were designed with the application of retainers using sturdy linkage methods tended to be less mobile.

한국노인의 가공의치 보철장착실태 및 필요도: 제5기 국민건강영양조사자료 분석(2010-2012) (Partial Denture Prosthesis Implant and Necessity Thereof in Korean Elderly : Analysis of the Data from the 5th National Health Nutrition Survey(2010-2012))

  • 본 연구는 한국 노인의 가공의치 보철장착실태 및 필요도를 분석함으로써 노인 구강보건정책에 관련 논의의 근거자료를 마련하고자 한다. 제 5기 국민건강영양조사 대상자 중 65세 이상 노인 4,557명을 대상으로 복합표본 빈도분석, 복합표본 교차분석, 복합표본 로지스틱회귀분석을 이용하여 자료분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 상 하악 보철물상태 및 상 하악 국소의치 및 총의치 필요에서 연령이 증가 할수록, 농촌지역 일수록, 교육수준이 낮을수록 총의치 장착 및 필요에 유의하게 나타났다. 또한 고정성필요에서는 소득, 주관적 건강상태가 관련성이 있었고, 틀니필요에서는 성별, 연령, 교육, 주관적 구강건강상태와 관련성이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 노인의 구강기능을 회복하기 위해 구강보건정책과 함께 구강건강증진을 위한 구강보건교육도 마련되어야 할 것이다.

The Significance of SDF-1α-CXCR4 Axis in in vivo Angiogenic Ability of Human Periodontal Ligament Stem Cells

  • Periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) are multipotent stem cells derived from periodontium and have mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-like characteristics. Recently, the perivascular region was recognized as the developmental origin of MSCs, which suggests the in vivo angiogenic potential of PDLSCs. In this study, we investigated whether PDLSCs could be a potential source of perivascular cells, which could contribute to in vivo angiogenesis. PDLSCs exhibited typical MSC-like characteristics such as the expression pattern of surface markers (CD29, CD44, CD73, and CD105) and differentiation potentials (osteogenic and adipogenic differentiation). Moreover, PDLSCs expressed perivascular cell markers such as NG2, ${\alpha}-smooth$ muscle actin, platelet-derived growth factor receptor ${\beta}$, and CD146. We conducted an in vivo Matrigel plug assay to confirm the in vivo angiogenic potential of PDLSCs. We could not observe significant vessel-like structures with PDLSCs alone or human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) alone at day 7 after injection. However, when PDLSCs and HUVECs were co-injected, there were vessel-like structures containing red blood cells in the lumens, which suggested that anastomosis occurred between newly formed vessels and host circulatory system. To block the $SDF-1{\alpha}$ and CXCR4 axis between PDLSCs and HUVECs, AMD3100, a CXCR4 antagonist, was added into the Matrigel plug. After day 3 and day 7 after injection, there were no significant vessel-like structures. In conclusion, we demonstrated the perivascular characteristics of PDLSCs and their contribution to in vivo angiogenesis, which might imply potential application of PDLSCs into the neovascularization of tissue engineering and vascular diseases.

Biocompatibility of Poly(MPC-co-EHMA)/Poly(L-1actide-co-glycolide) Blends

  • Poly(L-lactide-co-glycolide)(PLGA) was blended with poly[$\omega$-methacryloyloxyethyl phospho-rylcholine-co-ethylhexylmethacrylate (PMEH)] (PLGA/PMEH) to endow with new functionality i.e., to improve the cell-, tissue- and blood-compatibility. The characteristics of surface properties were investigated by measurement of contact angle goniometer, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy with attenuated total reflectance (FTIR-ATR) and electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis (ESCA). NIH/3T3 fibroblast and bovine aortic endothelial cell were cultured on control and PLGA/PMEH surfaces for the evaluation of ceil attachment and proliferation in terms of surface functionality such as the concentration of phosphoryl-choline. Also, the behavior of platelet adhesion on PLGA/PMEH was observed in terms of the surface functionality. The contact angles on control and PLGA/PMEH surfaces decreased with increasing PMEH content from 75$^{\circ}$ to about 43$^{\circ}$. It was observed from the FTIR-ATR spectra that phosphorylcholine groups are gradually increased with increasing blended amount of MPC. The experimental P percent values from ESCA analysis were more 3.28∼7.4 times than that of the theoretical P percent for each blend films. These results clearly indicated that the MPC units were concentrated on the surface of PLGA/PMEH blend. The control and PLGA/PMEH films with 0.5 to 10.0 wt% concentration of PMEH were used to evaluate cell adhesion and growth in terms of phosphorylcholine functionality and wettability. Cell adhesion and growth on PLGA/PMEH surfaces were less active than those of control and both cell number decreased with increasing PMEH contents without the effect of surface wettability. It can be explained that the fibronectin adsorption decreased with an increase in the surface density of phosphorylcholine functional group. One can conclude the amount of the protein adsorption and the adhesion number of cells can be controlled and nonspecifically reduced by the introduction with phosphorylcholine group. Morphology of the adhered platelets on the PLGA/PMEH surface showed lower activating than control and the number of adhered platelets on the PLGA/PMEH sample decreased with increasing the phosphorylcholine contents. The amount of fibrinogen adsorbed on the PLGA/PMEH surface demonstrated that the phospholipid polar group played an important role in reducing protein adsorption on the surface. In conclusion, this surface modification technique might be effectively used PLGA film and scaffolds for controlling the adhesion and growth of cell and tissue, furthermore, blood compatibility of the PLGA was improved by blending of the MPC polymer for the application of tissue engineering fields.

탄소섬유 첨가에 따른 의치상 레진의 탄성력 관찰 (Study on a Change of Mechanical Property of denture Resin by Carbon Fiber Filler Content)

  • Purpose: This study is a mechanical strength supplementation of denture base resin Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) is in general use for denture base resin of the partial and full denture, however, The polymerization process of PMMA is not stabilized. Because of compatibility problems, preceding studies were performed, which were enhancing mechanical strength(Camilo Machado 2007),(Ana M. 2008), addition filler to materials property(Ayse Mese, 2008), self curing method(Hiroshi Shimizu, 2008). Methods: The carbon fiber and polyacetal filler, reinforced the mechanical strength for improving the stability of denture base resin were supplemented to the self cured resin. The Modulus of elasticity and the restoring force were calculated by tensile test. Results: The strengths of the heat and self cured resin were respectively decreased and increased, when the filler was supplemented to the denture base resin and the modulus of elasticity of both heat and self cured resin were not increased, when the filler was supplemented to the denture base resin. Conclusion: The restoring forces of self cured resin containing 10% filler were increased, when the filler was supplemented to the denture base resin.

코핑 두께의 차이에 따른 POM 보철물의 변연적합도 연구 (Comparison of the marginal fit of POM restorations with different thickness of metal copings)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the marginal fit of POM restorations with 3 different thickness of metal coping. Methods: 2.0mm Occlusal reduction, 1.0mm preparation of axial wall with 6degree taper, and chamfer margin was prepared a maxillary first premolar on dentiform. Duplicate prepared die and, make 30 individual dies with Ni-Cr metal. Make 3 groups of 30 press ceramic on Metal crown with different thickness of metal coping; 10 of 0.1mm, 10 of 0.3mm, 10 of 0.5mm thickness metal coping. The marginal fit of the crowns was evaluated 50 points per 1 crown, around the crown margin circumference under a optical microscope at original magnification ${\times}100$. A 1-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to compare data. Results: The mean marginal discrepancy for POM with 0.1mm metal copings was $72.56{\mu}m$, $67.83{\mu}m$ for 0.3mm metal coping POMs, and $72.56{\mu}m$ for 0.5mm metal coping POM. The 1-way ANOVA showed significant difference among 3 groups. Conclusion: The marginal fit of pressed-on-metal (POMs) was best with 0.3mm thickness of metal coping, fallowing by 0.1mm, and 0.5mm in the order.

일부지역 요양보호사의 구강보건지식과 인식 및 노인 의치관리 행동에 관한 연구 -안동시를 중심으로- (A Study on Recuperation Nurses' Oral Health Knowledge and Perceptions, and Senile Denture Management Behavior in Andong City)

  • This study examines the relationship between recuperation nurses' oral health knowledge and perceptions and senile denture management behavior. For this study, 198 recuperation nurses who work in recuperation facilities for elderly patients in Andong City, Gyeongsangbuk-do, are surveyed. The data are investigated statistically using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analyses, and logistics regression analyses. The analyses results demonstrate that the rate of correct answers for oral health knowledge of recuperation nurses is 76.5%. The relationship between oral health perceptions and oral health knowledge is 0.324, which is slightly high correlation(p<0.01). In addition, the potential of senile denture management behavior is more likely among nurses who have high levels of oral health knowledge and perceptions. Therefore, it is necessary to explore measures that can promote denture management and oral health for the elderly who enter recuperation facilities through helping raise the level of recuperation nurses' oral health knowledge and perceptions.

Ti-40Nb계 합금에 열처리와 첨가원소 Ta, Hf이 기계적 성질에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Adding Element Ta, Hf and Heat Treatment on Mechanical Properties of Ti-40Nb Alloys)

  • Ti6Al4V alloy have been mainly used as implant materials. Ti-6Al-4V alloy instead of pure Ti is being widely used as biomaterials has some characteristics such as high fatigue strength, tensile strength. But it has been reported recently that vanadium component expresses cytotoxicity and carcinogenicity and aluminium component is related with dementia of Alzheimer type. In order to overcome their detrimental effects, $\beta$-phase stabilizer Nb was chosen in the present study, in addition Ta and Hf were added to Ti-40wt.%Nb alloy to improve its mechanical properties. This paper was described the influence of heat treatment of Ti-40Nb alloys with 2wt%Ta, 2wt%Hf on the mechanical properties. Specimens of Ti alloys were melted in vacuum arc furnace and homogenized at 1050$^{\circ}C$ for 24 hr. and then were aged after solution heat treat at $\alpha+\beta$ and $\beta$ regions. The mechanical properties of Ti alloys were analysed by hardness test, tensile test, elongation test and SEM test. The results can be summarized as follows: 1. The mechanical properties Ti-40wt.%Nb were improved when 2wt.% Ta and 2wt.%Hf were added. 2. The higher tensile strength value and elongation at solution heat treat was higher than solution heat treat and then were aged.

Nb이 첨가된 금속소부도재관용 Ni-Cr 합금 표면의 EPMA 관찰 (A Study on EPMA on Ni-Cr Alloy by Nb content for Porcelain Fused to Metal Crown)

  • The effect of Nb on interfacial bonding characteristics of Ni-Cr alloy for porcelain fused to metal crown (PFM) has been studied in order to investigate oxide layer. A specimens of Ni-Cr alloy, which is 0.8mm in thickness, within the porcelain furnace of 1,000$^{\circ}C$ with four tests such as air, vacuum, air for 5 minutes and vacuum for 5 minutes in order to examine an oxide behavior of alloy surface generated by the adding of Nb to be controlled at a rate of 0, 1, 3 and 5. Oxide film was observed form of the fired specimens with scanning electron microscope (SEM), and at the same time it measured Electron Probe Micro Analyzer (EPMA). The result of this study were as follows: 1. Cr oxide film and Nb oxide film were observed from the surface of specimen to be controlled at a rate of Nb 1%. 2. Nb oxide film was observed from the interface of specimens to be controlled at a rate of Nb 1% and 3%. 3. The stability of oxide films that treated in air were more stable than treated under vacuum.
