Purpose: This experiment aims to provide the fundamental resources in developing a programme intended to prevent students from dropping out of their academics by promoting students to develop an optimistic psychological state, through analysis of the factors that influence students' commitment to their major. Methods: A self-administered questionnaire was conducted from $19^{th}$ of November of the year 2018, till $1^{st}$ of December of the same year, with dental technology students located in W city as the subject. 261(93.2%) of the participants' responses were used for the final analysis. Results: A negative association between factors of commitment to major and factors of academic dropout decision were portrayed to be of statistical significance (p<.01), and factors of commitment to major that influence dropping out of their academics were shown to be that of 'autotelic experience' (p<.001) with a negative ( - ) relationship, and 'change in a sense of time' (p<.01) with a positive ( + ) relationship of statistical significance, while the explanatory power of the model was shown to be 33.6%. Conclusion: In order to prevent dental technology students from dropping out of their academics, following their entrance, To achieve this, the department must consider the implementation of, aside from subject matters of the major, other various extra-curricular programmes, and programmes in which the supervisor is consistently providing consultations that are tailored to each individual student.
As a dental technician, the aim of the present study on maxillofacial prosthesis was to research its relation with dental technology and further development aspects by looking into its history, kinds, production materials and process. Dental technicians are to expect a great potential to work as maxillofacial prosthetist if having an interest in education of maxillofacial prosthesis field, and developing and operating the education process by expanding the range of dental technology. This article is to present overall history of maxillofacial prosthesis and some background information on the materials which have been used from the past. The maxillofacial field plays essential functions of mastication and speech, as well as performs appearance, which evokes good or bad feelings as an instant and instinctive response. The use of maxillofacial prostheses is not merely the replacement of a missing part of the face, resulted from injuries, but a rehabilitation process to help individuals come back to society. Rehabilitation includes both patient's physical and psychological recovery, such as self-esteem and selfconfidence. There has been a rapid development in application potentials of maxillofacial prosthesis technology which include implant, which can penetrate skin, and new materials. In order to produce maxillofacial prosthesis, general procedures of maxillofacial laboratory work should be understood first. Maxillofacial prosthesis and the dental prosthesis have many similarities in its academic perspective and originality. Maxillofacial prosthesis should be added into the curriculum for dental technology to achieve co-enhancement of the two fields.

Purpose: In this study, in order to provide objective standard of the mixed concentration of the zirconia coloring-liquids, compare the shade differences after colored zirconia blocks from different concentrations. Methods: After immersion for 2 minutes zirconia specimen ($1.5{\times}1.5{\times}0.6{\pm}0.01mm$) in coloring-liquids that produced different concentrations, were sintered in furnace dedicated. Then, it was measured in spectrophotometer and Shadepilot. It has been determined mean and standard deviation of the color difference for each group, and verified by one-way ANOVA using the (version12.0) SPSS WIN Program the difference in shade according to the concentration at the significance level of 95% confidence, it conducted a Tukey's multiple range test to post-test. Results: The mean of $L^*$ was decreased toward LN35 group, however the mean of $a^*$ and $b^*$ was increased(p<.05). There is a statistically significant difference in the results of $L^*$ post hoc test of each group was LN15-LN30/LN35, LN20-LN30/LN35, LN25-LN30/LN35, and LN30-LN35 group. The $a^*$ group, it was found that there is a statistically significant difference in all groups for each(p<.05). The $b^*$ group, it was found that there is a statistically significant difference in all groups except the LN25-LN30(p<.05). Conclusion: In order to make effective use of the coloring-liquids of zirconia, the device objective, accurate concentration measurement is required, from the present study, we presented evidence basic to this.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the marginal and internal fit of lithium disilicate ceramic inlay produced by heat pressing that inlay pattern made by subtractive manufacturing and additive manufacturing method. Methods: A mandibular lower first molar that mesial occlusal cavity (MO cavity) die was prepared. After fabricating an epoxy resin model using a silicone impression material, epoxy resin die was scanned with a dental model scanner to design an MO cavity inlay. The designed STL pile was used to fabricate wax patterns and resin patterns, and then lithium disilicate ceramic inlays were fabricated using hot-press method. For the measurement of the marginal and internal gap of the lithium disilicate, silicone replica method was applied, and gap was measured through an optical microscope (x 80). Data were tested for significant differences using the Mann-Whitney Utest. Results: The marginal fit was 103.56±9.92㎛ in the MIL-IN group and 81.57±9.33㎛ in the SLA-IN group, with a significant difference found between the two groups (p<0.05). The internal fit was 120.99±17.52㎛ in the MIL-IN group and 99.18±6.65㎛ in the SLA-IN group, with a significant difference found between the two groups (p<0.05). Conclusion: It is clinically more appropriate to apply the additive manufacturing than subtractive manufacturing method in producing lithium disilicate inlay using CAD/CAM system.
Background and Goals: This study set out to apply the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), which is known to provide good explanations about human behavior, and test it to see if it could predict safety behavior by affecting the intention for safety behavior and perceived behavioral control and if intention for safety behavior would be influenced by attitude toward behavior, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control. Methods: The subjects were 98 dental technology majors in D City. The questionnaires were distributed, filled out and collected on the spot. Each item was measured on a seven-point scale, and it's interpreted that the higher mean of each item would translate into safety behavior. Results: The analysis results of the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) variables indicate that only subjective norm ($\beta$ = .528, p < .000) had explanatory power of 27.2% (F = 37.170, P <.001) for intention for safety behavior. The results show that subjective norm and attitude toward behavior affect intention for safety behavior. The analysis results of the TPB variables revealed that intention for safety behavior had explanatory power of 26.6% (F = 36.072, p <.000) for behavior. When intention was added by perceived behavioral control, the explanatory power increased to 34.5% (F = 26.530, p <.000). And when it's added by knowledge, the explanatory power increased to 39.0% (F =21.661, p <.000). The results suggest that intention has the biggest influence on predicting safety behavior. Conclusion: The results show that the TPB model by Ajzen (1985) has greater forecasting power for intention and act of safety behavior than the TRA model by Fishbein & Ajzen (1980) and the TPB model can applied in the prediction of safety behavior. Thus safety behavior is considered as behavior whose determination control is limited. And safety education programs that add knowledge to the TPB variables will help the students promote their safety behavior.
The purpose of this study was to determine the marginal fit of recasting by used nickel-chromium metal alloys, Hi-Crown, New-Crown and CB-80. Ninety crown prosthetics were divided into eighteen groups according to new to old metal ratios. Each crown was seated on its master die and then the marginal gaps were measured under optical microscope($\times$50). All groups were showed good marginal fit, except group 3 of Hi-Crown(156$\mu$m). The results suggest that the marginal fit of Ni-Cr metal alloy casting bodies were good as without concerned to mixed ratios and metals.
Purpose: This study is to compare and analyze the precision of glass fiber resin dentures. Methods: A lower edentulous model was prepared. Ten study models were produced using Type IV stone. Ten wax lower resin dentures containing artificial teeth were prepared. The lower wax denture was buried with plaster and deflasking was performed to remove the wax. These data were used for ${\Delta}E^*$ with color difference equation. Independent t tests were performed between 2 groups. Results: $L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$ of 2 groups was statistically significant respectively (p<0.001), ${\Delta}E^*$ was 4.55 value. Conclusion: This study showed effect of shade on all ceramic restoration based zirconia according to cooling rate on Firing.
This research collected the curriculum for Dental Technology from a total of 20 schools -3-year colleges and 4-year colleges- all in Korea. And we analyzed the average credits of subjects from students. As a result of this analysis, we get the conclusion below: 1. In a distribution which students answered about each subjects; Seminar, Dental morphology I II, Dental morphology practice I II, and Dental devices & instruments don't have many credits and mostly have a converged tendency in high points, according to the arithmetic mean of the major basis subjects. 2. In an analysis of the correlation which is based on the distinction of sex: Complete denture prosthodontics I II III, Dental orthodontics I II, Dental orthodontics practice I II, and Dental orthodontics & practice III have a meaningful difference. ($\rho$< 0.05 ) 3. In an analysis of the correlation which is based on an age The major basis subjects -Introduction to dental technology, Dental esthetic, and Dental casting procedure-, and the major application subjects -Crown and bridge prosthodontics practice, Complete denture prosthodontics, Dental orthodontics, Dental orthodontics practice, and Operative dentistry laboratory technology- have meaningful difference. ($\rho$< 0.05 ) 4. In a correlation coefficient between subjects; The correlation coefficient of the major application subjects is higher than the major basis subjects. According to the student - t, we found that the level of significance is $\rho$< 0.001, which is meaningful. We feel the lack of a limitation which we didn't survey all students who are major in Department of Dental Technology. And we also feel that we'd better to consider not only students who being in college but also graduated students.
