Impacts of Demand Response from Different Sectors on Generation System Well Being

  • Recent concerns about environmental conditions have triggered the growing interest in using green energy resources. These sources of energy, however, bring new challenges mainly due to their uncertainty and intermittency. In order to alleviate the concerns on the penetration of intermittent energy resources, this paper investigates impacts of realizing demand-side potentials. Among different demand-side management programs, this paper considers demand response wherein consumers change their consumption pattern in response to changing prices. The research studies demand response potentials from different load sectors on generation system well-being. Consumers' sensitivity to time-varying prices is captured via self and cross elasticity coefficients. In the calculation of well-being indices, sequential Monte Carlo simulation approach is accompanied with fuzzy logic. Finally, IEEE-RTS is used as the test bed to conduct several simulations and the associated results are thoroughly discussed.

아토피 피부염 환자들의 의복 소재 선호도 및 요구 성능 (A Study on the Preference and Requirement Performance for Clothing Materials of the Patients having Atopic Dermatitis)

  • This study was accomplished to investigate the preference of clothing materials and the clothing demand performance for underwear and everyday dress of atopic patients. As this study was the research study by a use of a questionnaire, the finally total 987 copies of the collected questionnaires were used to analyze the data. SPSS was used for the statistical analysis of data. To analyze the data, frequency analysis, percentage, $X^2$-test, reliability analysis, factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA and Duncan's multiple comparisons were used. The results obtained are as follows. In factor analysis for clothing materials and the demand performance which atopic patients favor, the preference factors for underwear materials were classified as pliability/a sense of weight, a sense of cold and warmth, tactility, and elasticity. Those for everyday wear were classified as pliability/surface roughness, a sense of cold and warmth, a sense of weight, and elasticity. And the demand performance factors for underwears were classified as thermophysiology, care convenience, and skin contact. Those for everyday wear were classified as comfortableness and care convenience. In the difference analysis for the preference and the demand performance, Both everyday wear and underwear showed a significant difference for the preference and the demand performance according to gender, age, income, education level, and occupation.

수요시스템(LA/AIDS)을 이용한 우유 시장 수요 분석: 농촌진흥청 소비자 패널자료를 중심으로 (A Study on Milk Market Demand using LA/AIDS)

  • This study judged that although milk with various properties is currently being released, the growth rate of the milk market has not changed significantly, and the reason for this is that a substitution relationship has been formed between existing white milk and milk with various properties and they are competing with each other. The purpose of this study was to provide implications for the future growth of the milk market by identifying the relationship between diversified milk attributes. As a research method for this purpose the own price elasticity, cross-price elasticity, and expenditure elasticity of each attribute were derived through the LA/AIDS demand system model, and an analysis of consumers' milk purchasing factors was conducted through factor analysis. Based on the analysis results, it presented implications for growth in the milk market, such as expanding products with great differentiation in attributes such as flavor, plant and lactose-free properties, establishment of marketing strategies targeting consumers with children, and expansion of online malls.

한국관광수요의 소득 및 가격탄력성에 대한 연구 (A Study on Income and Price Elasticities of Tourism Demand in Korea)

  • 본 연구는 ARDL 모형을 이용하여 관광수요모형의 소득탄력성과 가격탄력성을 분석하고자 하였다. 한국으로 입국하는 미국, 일본 및 중국 등의 관광객 입국자수, GDP 및 CPI의 연별 IMF 자료를 바탕으로 설정된 ARDL과 ARDL-RECM 모형을 이용하였다. 첫째, ARDL 모형결과, 미국의 소득탄력성은 비탄력적으로 둔감하였으므로 장거리 미국관광객들에게는 필수재(necessities), 중국의 소득탄력성은 탄력적으로 민감하여 사치재(luxuries)로 구분되었다. 둘째, ARDL과 ARDL-RECM 모형결과, 미국과 중국의 자체가격탄력성이 매우 탄력적이고 민감하였다. 셋째, ARDL 모형결과, 미국의 대체가격탄력성이 비탄력적 대체재(substitutes), 중국은 비탄력적 보완재(complements)의 관계가 존재하고, ARDL-RECM 모형결과에서 미국과 중국의 대체가격탄력성은 비탄력적 대체재의 관계를 보여주었다. 넷째, ECM의 계수값은 미국과 중국의 실제와 기대부호가 음(-)의 값으로 일치하여 단기관계와 전기의 불균형에서 다음 기의 균형으로 조정해 가는 속도를 추정하였다. 이러한 모형에서 미국과 중국의 경우 설명력이 높고 적합도가 높으나, 자기상관이 약간 존재하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 한국정부에 의해 실행된 소득, 자체가격, 대체가격 및 정책이 미국, 일본 및 중국에서 한국으로의 관광수요를 성공적으로 설명하고 있다. 따라서 소득탄력성을 통해 관광정책 또는 관광전략을 수립할 수 있고 가격탄력성을 통해 한국의 관광가격이 타시장에 비해 탄력적임을 인식하여 관광서비스의 질과 상품의 차별화를 더욱 개선시킬 수 있다.

  • The Optimal Power Flow(OPF) is the optimization model that has different constraints and the specified objective function, which is very useful tool for efficient system and market operation in the competitive electricity market. The existed OPF models focus on the minimization of generation fuel cost under informed demand values at each bus Recently, the studies of OPF model with demand function considering the response behavior of customers in the deregulated electricity market have been executed. This paper implements the OPF model using demand function with specified price elasticity, and provides the analysis of related results.

여행비용접근법을 적용한 미술관 방문수요함수 추정 : 국립현대미술관을 사례로 (Demand Estimation for Art Museum using Travel Cost Method : A Case of National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art)

  • 본 연구는 국립현대미술관을 방문하여 즐기는 문화서비스에 대한 수요함수를 개인별 여행비용접근법을 적용하여 추정하였다. 미술관 방문에 따른 여가시간의 기회비용을 고려하였고, 비방문객들의 선호를 반영하기 위해서 방문지점조사와 일반가구조사 표본을 같이 분석하여 제로방문을 절단하지 않는 가산자료모형을 사용하였다. 국립현대미술관 방문수요는 수도권 거주자일수록 그리고 방문지점조사 응답자일수록 방문빈도가 높았다. 수도권 거주자들의 방문수요에 대한 가격탄력성은 -0.34에서 -0.5로 비탄력적인 반면에 원거리 거주자이지만 일단 미술관을 방문한 응답자들의 가격탄력성이 -0.21로 가격변화에 둔감하게 반응하는 것으로 나타났다. 나아가서 비수도권 거주자들의 소득탄력성은 0.499로 미술관 방문으로 누리는 서비스가 정상재로 나타난 반면 수도권 거주자들의 소득탄력성은 -0.052로 열등재로 나타났다.

TOU 프로그램의 DR 효과를 고려한 탄소 배출 분석 (Carbon Emission Analysis Considering Demand Response Effect in TOU Program)

  • Currently, the concern about the environment is the issue all over the world, and in particular, carbon emissions of the power plants will not be able to disregard from the respect of generation cost. This paper proposes DR (demand response) as a method of reducing carbon emissions and therefore, carbon emissions cost. There are a number of studies considering DR, and in this paper, the effect of DR is focused on the side of carbon emission reduction effect considering Time-Of-Use (TOU) program, which is one of the most important economic methods in DSM. Demand-price elasticity matrix is used in this paper to model and analyze DR effect. Carbon emissions is calculated by using the carbon emission coefficient provided by IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), and generator's input-output characteristic coefficients are also used to estimate carbon emission cost as well as the amount of carbon emissions. Case study is conducted on the RBTS IEEE with six buses. For the TOU program, it is assumed that parameters of time period partition consist of three time periods (peak, flat, off-peak time period).

행정중심복합도시 대중교통 이용활성화를 위한 수요탄력성 분석 (An Analysis of Demand Elasticity to Facilitate the Use of Public Transportation in the Administrative City)

  • Administrative city has been developed step by step aiming to being a public transport-oriented new city. In spite of its primary goal, administrative city is dominated by car-oriented tansportaion system because the supply of public transportation has not been adequately and timely performed. In this study, we investigate the current situation related to (public) transportation use in administrative city. Also, we examine the issues of traffic system through a survey on residents' consciousness about public transportation use. Additionally, the analysis of demand elasticity according to the change of the conditions of using public transportation and passenger car is conducted for passenger car users. As a result, it is analyzed that as the neighborhood is more stabilized after the completion of development the resistance to the abandonment of passenger car is higher when the tide demand control method is introduced. Therefore, it is concluded that pre-emptive public transportation supply and the management of car demand management are necessary for the activation of public transportation in Administrative city.

Market Power of Genetically Modified Soybeans Traded Between the United States and Korea

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study was to investigate market power of soybeans exported by the United States to Korea. Particularly, this paper considered dichotomous characteristics of genetically modified (GM) soybeans and non-GM soybeans and conducted empirical analysis of these two segregated soybean markets to understand key tenets of market power in international soybean trade. Design/methodology - The difference in market power between GM and non-GM soybeans was analyzed using Residual Demand Elasticity (RDE) and Residual Supply Elasticity (RSE) models over the period of 2008~2018. RDE and RSE models under an imperfect competition condition were used to estimate market margins and determine whether GM and non-GM exporters or importers exercised market power in the destination market. Findings - Empirical results suggested that the U.S. had a market power on both GM and non-GM soybean exports. GM exports had greater market power than non-GM exports (14% vs. 9%). By contrast, Korea showed an inability to grab market margin or exert market power in soybean imports. Both export supply by the U.S. and import demand by Korea were found to be more responsive to price changes of GM soybeans than to prices changes of non-GM soybeans. This might be due to a self-interested, profit-seeking strategy by the exporter and many concerned consumers regarding potential adverse effects of GMOs in the importing country. Originality/value - This paper fills the literature gap by exploiting market power in both GM and non-GM markets with explicit consideration of price correlations between GM and non-GM soybeans in Korea. A number of existing studies have provided evidence for market power broadly embedded in international commodity trade. However, studies focusing on Korean markets are limited. No study has explored the country's soybean trade. Furthermore, the majority of prior studies have almost exclusively focused on the market power from a standpoint of exporting countries without discussing importers' market structure. This paper also sought to understand potentially distinguished patterns of market power between GM and non-GM markets.

Staled Preference 방법론에 의한 국내선 항공수요의 가격탄력성 추정 (Estimating Price Elasticities of Domestic Air Transport Demand by Stated Preference Technique)

  • 이 연구는 최근 소비자 행동분석에서 많이 사용되고 있는 설문조사에 의한 Stated Preference의 방법론을 채택하여 항공여객수요의 가격탄력성을 분석하였다. 우리나라의 국내선 항공은 항공요금이 지금가지 인가제나 신고제로 규제되어 왔기 때문에 통상의 총량자료에 의한 회귀분석으로는 가격탄력성 도출이 어려우며 특별한 분석방법론을 필요로 한다. 이 연구에서는 항공여객에 대한 설문조사로 항공편과 철도, 버스, 승용차 등 대체교통수단과의 선택 여부에 대한 자료를 입수한 후, SP기법에 따른 Logit model로 분석하여 항공수요의 가격탄력성과 대체교통수단으로의 모드별 쉐어 변환율을 Sample Enumeration 방식에 의해 추정하였다 대체 가격탄력성은 -0.6∼-0.9의 값으로 밝혀졌으며 대체교통수단으로는 주로 철도를 선택하고 일부 버스를 선택하며 승용차는 거의 선택하지 않는 것으로 조사되었다.
