  • Sequence analysis indicated that Bacillus polymyxa MGL21 CFTase was divided into five distinct regions. CFTase contained three regions of repeat sequences at the N-terminus and C-terminus. The endo-inulinase region of homology (ERH) of CFTase was similar to that of Pseudomonas mucidolens endo-inulinase. Furthemore, CFTase possessed a highly conserved core region. In order to understand the role of the core region on the function of CFTase from B. polymyxa MGL21 CFTase ${\Delta}NC$ was prepared. The molecular weight of the purified wild type CFTase and $CFTase{\Delta}NC$ were 148kDa, 90kDa, respectively.

  • A Cre/loxP-${\delta}$-integration system was developed to allow sequential and simultaneous integration of a multiple gene expression cassette in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. To allow repeated integrations, the reusable Candida glabrata MARKER (CgMARKER) carrying loxP sequences was used, and the integrated CgMARKER was efficiently removed by inducing Cre recombinase. The XYLP and XYLB genes encoding endoxylanase and ${\beta}$-xylosidase, respectively, were used as model genes for xylan metabolism in this system, and the copy number of these genes was increased to 15.8 and 16.9 copies/cell, respectively, by repeated integration. This integration system is a promising approach for the easy construction of yeast strains with enhanced metabolic pathways through multicopy gene expression.

  • Let ${X_i{\mid}i{\geq}1}$ be a strictly stationary sequence of associated random variables with mean zero and let ${\sigma}^2=EX_1^2+2\sum\limits_{j=2}^\infty{EX_1}{X_j}$ with 0 < ${\sigma}^2$ < ${\infty}$. Set $S_n={\sum\limits^n_{i=1}^\{X_i}$, the precise asymptotics for ${\varepsilon}^{{\frac{2(r-p)}{2-p}}-1}\sum\limits_{n{\geq}1}n^{{\frac{r}{p}}-{\frac{1}{p}}+{\frac{1}{2}}}P({\mid}S_n{\mid}{\geq}{\varepsilon}n^{{\frac{1}{p}}})$,${\varepsilon}^2\sum\limits_{n{\geq}3}{\frac{1}{nlogn}}p({\mid}Sn{\mid}{\geq}{\varepsilon\sqrt{nloglogn}})$ and ${\varepsilon}^{2{\delta}+2}\sum\limits_{n{\geq}1}{\frac{(loglogn)^{\delta}}{nlogn}}p({\mid}S_n{\mid}{\geq}{\varepsilon\sqrt{nloglogn}})$ as ${\varepsilon}{\searrow}0$ are established under the suitable conditions.

  • We aim at giving explicit expressions of $${\sum_{m,n=0}^{{\infty}}}{\frac{{\Delta}_{m+n}(-1)^nx^{m+n}}{({\rho})_m({\rho}+i)_nm!n!}$$, where i = 0, ${\pm}1$, ${\ldots}$, ${\pm}9$ and $\{{\Delta}_n\}$ is a bounded sequence of complex numbers. The main result is derived with the help of the generalized Kummer's summation theorem for the series $_2F_1$ obtained earlier by Choi. Further some special cases of the main result considered here are shown to include the results obtained earlier by Kim and Rathie and the identity due to Bailey.

  • Silicide formation process and the formation sequence were investigated in this study. It was postulated that the formation of the second silicide phase involves glass formation between the first silicide phase and Si given that a thin metal film is deposited on a Si substrate. The concentration of glass was assumed to be located where the free energy of the liquid alloy with respect to the first nucleated compound and solid Si (${\Delta}$G') is most negative. It was also mentioned that the glass concentration is close to the composition of the second phase in order to achieve the maximum energy degradation. It was shown that the minimum ${\Delta}$G' concentration can be estimated by interpolating the portion of the liquidus where the liquid alloy is in equilibrium with the two solid constituents, namely the first compound phase and Si, thereby forming a hypothetical eutectic.

  • Let 0 < q < ${\infty}$. In this study, we introduce the spaces ${\mathcal{BV}}_q$ and ${\mathcal{LS}}_q$ of q-bounded variation double sequences and q-summable double series as the domain of four-dimensional backward difference matrix ${\Delta}$ and summation matrix S in the space ${\mathcal{L}}_q$ of absolutely q-summable double sequences, respectively. Also, we determine their ${\alpha}$- and ${\beta}-duals$ and give the characterizations of some classes of four-dimensional matrix transformations in the case 0 < q ${\leq}$ 1.

  • In this study, the die design and die series on the surface residual stress of cold drawn eutectoid steel wire has been investigated. Test pieces were fabricated using die series with different mean and final reduction ratio. Surface residual stresses in the axial direction were measured by X-ray diffraction, Broker's 2-dimensional GADDS system. Results were compared with stress profiles which were calculated by 3D and 2D finite element simulation, Hibbitt's ABAQUS 6.4 program in Finite Element Analysis. By means of FEA method, optimal die shape considering delta-parameter were induced and applied in order to determine die sequence designs. Balance of the drawing stresses was also introduced to optimize die sequence.

  • We discuss the effects of the ${\delta}^2$ and Lubkin acceleration methods on the partial sums of Fourier Series. We construct continuous, even H$\ddot{o}$lder continuous functions, for which these acceleration methods fail to give convergence. The constructed functions include some interesting trigonometric series whose properties were investigated by Hardy and Littlewood.

  • In this paper, we introduce a new approximating method for finding the common element of the set of fixed points of nonexpansive mappings and the set of solution of system variational inequalities for finite family of inverse strongly monotone mappings and strictly pseudo-contractive of Browder-Petryshyn type mappings. We show that the sequence converges strongly to a common element the above two sets under some parameter controling conditions. Our results improve and extend the results announced by many others.
