  • The purpose of this study is to analyze empirically the causes of high unemployment among the people with disabilities, focused on productivity and discrimination. In order to pursue such goal this study adopts human capital theory, screening theory, job contest theory, taste theory and statistical discrimination theory as theoretical background. The major findings are: (1) Among the human capital variables Education degree and job training are not statistically significant on employment. Only degree of activity limit has significant effect. (2) Among the discrimination related variables only discrimination experiences variable has negative effect on employment. (3) Between degree of activity limit and discrimination experiences, both have similar effect on employment. But the degree of activity limit can be thought as discrimination related element. Because' not giving resonable accommodation' is regarded discrimination in ADA or DDA. These mean that it is important for society to compel the employment of the disabled and to put focus on eliminating prejudice rather than accomplishing education and job training programs to improve the employment of the disabled. In order to accomplish this it is necessary to increase the levy for disabled persons' employment promotion of the disabled persons' employment promotion act and to establish the disability discrimination act. Also, integrated education starting from infancy is necessary. Education system should be changed, and Job training must focused on industry which demand more labor force.

  • The purpose of this study is to classify the degree of change of job discrimination of the disabled according to time and to identify factors affecting life satisfaction according to each type. For this study, data from the 3rd to 8th year of the employment panel for the disabled were used and 1,227 data were used. The longitudinal profile of the disabled person's discrimination was classified through latent profile growth analysis(LPGA), and then influential factors were verified through binomial logistic regression analysis. First, the types of change of the job discrimination of the disabled were represented as the decrease group and the increase group. The factors influencing the job discrimination were the degree of disability, chronic diseases, gross income, and life satisfaction. Second, the factors of predicting the life satisfaction according to the types of job discrimination of the disabled are as follows: job discrimination, decrease and increase group have higher life satisfaction as the self - esteem and socioeconomic status are higher. Based on these results, this study suggested the implications of this study to cope with the discrimination of the workplace with the disabled.

  • Watercore influences storage and distribution industry of fruit. Therefore, the technique for nondestructive discrimination of watercore fruit is needed. This work reports about the possibility of watercore discrimination of ante using transmitted light, and the effects of various factors. CCD camera was used to capone images of each apple fruit. An excess watercore apples were higher light transmission score than little watercore apples. The accuracy fur discrimination of watercore apple was about 70% using transmitted light. Peel thickness, anthocyanin layer thickness and density of apple affected the light transmission. Apples having thin peel, thin pigment layer and low density tended to high transmitted light score. Apples of good color degree were more probability of existence watercore than ones of bad color degree. But color distribution of apple peel was not correlated with watercore.

  • In this study, were prepared after statistical analysis was conducted of assessment items and marks distribution for the selection of executors of the BTL project. When tests of the degree of dispersion and degree of appropriateness for each assessment item were analyzed, it was found that the degree of dispersion among assessment points has the power of discrimination since it is highly marked in the design field and operation management field. In contrast, 'business management plan' and 'investment composition for economic quality assessment' have a low level of the power of discrimination since points given to them have smaller difference between business projects.

  • The visual discrimination ability of Vespertilio superans was investigated with a male and a female. In a controlled experimental situation (two-choice apparatus), using a vertical bar and a circle of the same area of the bar, it was established that discrimination between different shapes of the same size was impossible. However, with patterns in which the surface areas substantially differed, the bats were able to discriminate between them to a statistically significant degree. Continuing with experiments in which the lightness of the 2 paritems was varied, the disrimination was possible with all but the slightest differences in lightness (a difference of lightness value 2).

  • Korean unwed mothers and their families often experience discriminatory and unfair treatment in their everyday lives. However, there has been little research examining discrimination against unwed mothers and its effects on these women's lives. Therefore, further studies are needed to identify and assess types and degree of discrimination against unwed mothers. This study aims to investigate and develop a reliable and valid measurement scale of experiences of discrimination for Korean unwed mothers. For developing the scale, the researchers constructed a concept and sub factors, and the pre-scale of 75 items of discrimination experiences of unwed mothers by conducting a literature review and focus groups interviews, Validity and reliability of the scale were tested by carrying out an item quality analysis, a exploratory factor analysis, a correlation analysis, a criterion validity test and a reliability analysis, The scale of 21 items was constructed with three dimensions. This study is significant that it provides the scale of discrimination for Korea unwed mothers with high reliability and validity to identify and verify types and degree of discrimination experiences of unwed mothers.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree of discrimination and current usage of traditional furniture by people in contemporary society. Interest and preference for traditional furniture were also examined. The major findings were; 1) The traditional furniture owned by respondents were mainly document chest(mungab), dining table(soban) and open etagre(sabang-takja). Book cases(chaikjang) were rarely owned. Function of some furniture such as single shelf chest(danchung-jang), kitchen cabinet(chantak) and desk(suban) have been changed. 2) Highly discriminated tiradtional furniture were document chest(mungab), wardrobe(chest-jang) and dining table(soban). The degree of discrimination of letter rack(gobi), kitchen cabinet(chantak) and bookcases(chaikjang), however, were very low. 3) There was significant relation between discriminating ability and interest for the furniture and the status of posession of it. 4) Some socio-demographic variables were related to distriminating ability of the furniture. The group in high educational and economic level showed high discriminating ability of the furniture than those in lower levels. 5) These was positive correlation between discriminating ability and interest. The more interest, the higher discriminating ability. 6) Most preferred traditional furniture at present were three shelved clothing chest(samchung-jang), document chest(mungab), wardrobe chest(euiguri-jang) and open etagere(sabang-takja).

  • This paper examines how a Korean automobile firm price-discriminates between the Korean and the U.S. markets. We argue that a Korean automobile firm's pricing behavior depends on the differences in price elasticity over the segmented markets between the countries. Our findings are that differences in price elasticity may help explain why a medium-class car's price is higher in Korea than that in the U.S. while a small-sized car's price is higher in the U.S. than in Korea, which implies that a Korean automobile firm $3^{rd}$ degree price-discriminates on the same or similar products between Korea and the U.S. This type of $3^{rd}$ degree price discrimination differs from a typical home-bias effect (charging higher prices to domestic consumers) because a small-sized car which is produced domestically sells at higher price abroad. This finding can be added as a source that violates the law of one price.
