In this paper, we propose the defect emphasis in TFT-LCD panel image. The defect emphasis image consist of S(Shape) map and B(Brightness) map. S map based on DoG(difference of gaussian) is made with the mura defect shape characteristic. And B map use defect intensity property that defect intensity is higher than background. The experiments were conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed defect emphasis method. The results of experiments show the validity of the defect emphasis using the proposed method.

The semiconductor industry has continuously been looking for the ways to improve yield and to reduce manufacturing cost. The layout modification approach, one of yield enhancement techniques, is applicable to all design styles, but it does not require any additional resources in terms of silicon area. The layout modification method for yield enhancement consists of making local variations in the layout of some layers in such a way that the critical area, and consequently the sensitivity of the layer to point defects, is reduced. Chen and Koren (1995) proposed a greedy algorithm that removes defect sensitive area using via moving, but it is easy to fall into a local minimum. In this paper, we present a via moving algorithm using simulated annealing and enhance yield by diminishing defect sensitive area. As a result, we could decrease the defect sensitive area effectively compared to the greedy algorithm presented by Chen and Koren. We expect that the proposed algorithm can make significant contributions on company profit through yield enhancement.
The reliable detection of the limited defect in TFT-LCD images is difficult due to the small intensity difference with the background. However, the proposed detection method reliably detects the limited defect by enhancing the TFT-LCD image based on the cumulative histogram and then detecting the defect through the mean and standard deviation of the enhanced image. Notably, an image enhancement using a cumulative histogram increases the intensity contrast between the background and the limited defect, which then allows defects to be detected by using the mean and standard deviation of the enhanced image. Furthermore, through the comparison with the histogram equalization, we confirm that the proposed algorithm suppresses the emphasis of the noise. Experimental comparative results using real TFT-LCD images and pseudo images show that the proposed method detects the limited defect more reliably than conventional methods.
To solve the edge ringing or block effect caused by the partial differential diffusion in image enhancement domain, a new image enhancement algorithm based on bidirectional diffusion, which smooths the flat region or isolated noise region and sharpens the edge region in different types of defect images on aviation composites, is presented. Taking the image pixel's neighborhood intensity and spatial characteristics as the attribute descriptor, the presented bidirectional diffusion model adaptively chooses different diffusion criteria in different defect image regions, which are elaborated are as follows. The forward diffusion is adopted to denoise along the pixel's gradient direction and edge direction in the pixel's smoothing area while the backward diffusion is used to sharpen along the pixel's gradient direction and the forward diffusion is used to smooth along the pixel's edge direction in the pixel's edge region. The comparison experiments were implemented in the delamination, inclusion, channel, shrinkage, blowhole and crack defect images, and the comparison results indicate that our algorithm not only preserves the image feature better but also improves the image contrast more obviously.

The TFT-LCD image allows non-uniform illumination variation and that is one of main difficulties of finding defect region. The SQI (self quotient image) has the HPF (high pass filter) shape and is used to reduce low frequency-lightness component. In this paper, we proposed the TFT-LCD defect-enhancement algorithm using characteristics of the SQI, that is the SQI has low-frequency flattening effect and maintains local variation. The proposed method has superior flattening effect and defect-enhancement effect compared with previous the TFT-LCD image preprocessing.
In this paper, we have studies the images have been reconstructed by using combination of images which has been acquired by the variation of operating frequency. When inner images has been reconstructed, inner image has been superposition by surface state effect. In this case, image enhancement the phase object and enhance the contrast of inner image. In the result of the specimen for the round defect with 2mm diameter, for the types of the depth are 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, and 3mm, it has been show that the shape of defect has better than before this processing and phase contrast grow large twice. And we have constructed the acoustic microscope by using quadrature detector that is able simultaneously to acquired the amplitude and phase of the reflected signal. Father more we have studied the reconstruction method of the amplitude and phase images and the enhancement method of the defect images' contrast.
Foundry techniquews for large steel casting depends on the skills of foundrymen considerably. Especially, the problem of reducing casring surface defects is difficult to clear numerically. Statistical analysis by using wuantification theory for hot tear and sand inclusion, and multiple regression analysis for dimensional defects have been shown to be examples of solving this difficulty. Many causes of surface defects can be evaluated by these analyses. These evaluations serve as the base data of defect reduction and contribute to the constant improvement of casting quality and quality enhancement activity. The system to perform quality enhancement activity was developed and it proved very useful for transfering foundry techniques and skills from the old to young generations.
The time-reversal method is employed to improve the ability of pipeline defect detection, and a new approach of identifying the pipeline defect depth is proposed in this research. When the L(0,2) mode ultrasonic guided wave excited through a lead zirconate titinate (PZT) transduce array propagates along the pipeline with a defect, it will interact with the defect and be partially converted to flexural F(n, m) modes and longitudinal L(0,1) mode. Using a receiving PZT array attached axisymmetrically around the pipeline, the L(0,2) reflection signal as well as the mode conversion signals at the defect are obtained. An appropriate rectangle window is used to intercept the L(0,2) reflection signal and the mode conversion signals from the obtained direct detection signals. The intercepted signals are time reversed and re-excited in the pipeline again, result in the guided wave energy focusing on the pipeline defect, the L(0,2) reflection and the L(0,1) mode conversion signals being enhanced to a higher level, especially for the small defect in the early crack stage. Besides the L(0,2) reflection signal, the L(0,1) mode conversion signal also contains useful pipeline defect information. It is possible to identify the pipeline defect depth by monitoring the variation trend of L(0,2) and L(0,1) reflection coefficients. The finite element method (FEM) simulation and experiment results are given in the paper, the enhancement of pipeline defect reflection signals by time-reversal method is obvious, and the way to identify pipeline defect depth is demonstrated to be effective.

To enhance the quality of defect detection for Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) during electronic product manufacturing, this study primarily focuses on optimizing the YOLOv7-based method for PCBA defect detection. In this method, the Mish, a smoother function, replaces the Leaky ReLU activation function of YOLOv7, effectively expanding the network's information processing capabilities. Concurrently, a Squeeze-and-Excitation attention mechanism (SEAM) has been integrated into the head of the model, significantly augmenting the precision of small target defect detection. Additionally, considering angular loss, compared to the CIoU loss function in YOLOv7, the SIoU loss function in the paper enhances robustness and training speed and optimizes inference accuracy. In terms of data preprocessing, this study has devised a brightness adjustment data enhancement technique based on split-filtering to enrich the dataset while minimizing the impact of noise and lighting on images. The experimental results under identical training conditions demonstrate that our model exhibits a 9.9% increase in mAP value and an FPS increase to 164 compared to the YOLOv7. These indicate that the method proposed has a superior performance in PCBA defect detection and has a specific application value.

We report a case of vegetation in a 4-year-old female with infective endocarditis, diagnosed by late gadolinium-enhanced (LGE) cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging. The patient had a history of primary closure for ventricular septal defect and presented with mild febrile sensation. No remarkable clinical symptoms or laboratory findings were noted; however, transthoracic echocardiography demonstrated a 14 mm highly mobile homogeneous mass in the right ventricle. On LGE CMR imaging, the mass showed marginal rim enhancement, which suggested the diagnosis of vegetation rather than thrombus. The extracellular volume fraction (${\geq}42%$) of the lesion was higher than that of normal myocardium. Based on the patient's clinical history of congenital heart disease and pathologic confirmation of the lesion, a diagnosis of infective endocarditis with vegetation was made.
