The subjects were 30 university students with irrational beliefs, 15 of them in the control group and 15 in the experimental group. The horticultural therapy program was carried out in total 10 sessions once a week for one and a half hours. For irrational beliefs, the experimental group showed a significant decrease (p=.002) in the total score after the program, but the control group showed an insignificant change (p=.529). Total job-seeking stress score was decreased significantly in the experimental group (p=.002) after the program, whereas it was increased in the control group (p=.023). For the career maturity, the experimental group showed a significant increase (p=.008) in the total score, whereas the control group showed a significant decrease (p=.028). Therefore, it can be found that REBT applied horticultural activity programs are helpful for reducing irrational beliefs and job-seeking stress and improving career maturity for young adults.

  • Objectives: The major objective of this study was to analyze stress response after a change to consecutive day shifts from day and night shifts in a motor assembly factory. Methods: Using a survey conducted by a labor union, we collected data on stress response index(SRI), lifestyle factors, work-family conflict and job stress before and after a shift system change. We analyzed the transition on the SRI among 222 workers. The cut-off point for the SRI was a T-score over 60. Results: The high risk stress response group was 20.3% of the population before the shift system change. After the shift system change it decreased to 11.3%. After the shift system change, social support improved, leisure time became more sufficient, work-family conflict declined, and sleep quality in the night shift week improved. In multivariable linear regression, among workers under 40 years old sleep quality on night shift, leisure time sufficiency, social support and work-family conflict contributed to the improvement of stress response. Among workers over 40, work-family conflict contributed to the improvement of stress response. Conclusions: The change to consecutive day shifts improved stress response and mediated with improved nighttime sleep, decreased work-family conflict, increased leisure time and improved work-family conflict.

Methods: The study was conducted with 241 nurses from ED of 20 general hospitals in Busan. The survey data were collected from May 1 to July 31, 2010 and were analyzed using frequencies, percentages, means, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression with the SPSS Win 17.0 program. Results: There were statistically significant differences in turnover intention depending on age, regular change in department, and nursing experiences. A significant positive correlation was found between job stress and turnover intention and a significant negative correlation between organizational commitment and turnover intention. The significant factors influencing turnover intention were regular change in department, job stress, and organizational commitment, which explained about 13.7% of the variance. Conclusion: Considering this results, nursing managers should analyze these main factors which affect turnover intention and create ways to decrease turnover intentions, and thus decrease high turnover intention.

Closely related systems, electronic card system and prevailing wage system, are considered by assuming three scenarios, although they are not introduced yet. Empirical survey shows that the relevance is above average. The empirical result of regression also predicts that policy target might be mostly satisfied. Policy purpose is regressed on rating criteria, they are career, qualification, education and training, award. Career and award have positive impact on inflow of new comer. All four criteria have significant impacts on improvement of job performance. Award has strong effects on decreasing job-change. Especially, when electronic card system and prevailing wage system are adopted simultaneously with 'Construction Skilled Workers' Rank System', the level of satisfaction of policy purpose would be higher.

  • This study examined the effects of household head’s worker status change type on household income and household head’s income using a total combined sample of 2,578 households from Korea surveyed in 1998 and 2002 KLIPS(Korean Labor and Income Panel Study). Binary logit regression results showed that household incomes were likely to decrease significantly when household head’s changed worker status from a regular employee, a temporary employee or a daily worker, or an employer or a self-employed to no job status, or from a regular employee to a temporary employee or a daily worker, an employer or a self-employed, or from an employer or a self-employed to a regular employee compared to a regular employee status maintenance. In contrast, household head’s incomes were likely to increase significantly when household head’s changed worker status from a temporary to a regular employee compared to a regular employee status maintenance. Women household heads were significantly associated with the likelihood of the decrease of household head’s income compared to men household heads. Household heads beyond their forties were significantly associated with the likelihood of the decrease of household head’s income compared to household heads in their thirties age-group counterparts. Household heads with education level beyond high school graduation were significantly associated with the likelihood of the increase of household head’s income compared to household heads with the education level of high school graduation. This study shows that a more comprehesive labor policy is needed for achieving sustainable household income inflow.
