It has been well known that grapefruit seed extract (GSE) have effects on the deodorization and a wide range disinfectant. But anybody do not research about the decomposition-inhibition effect of GSE. The present study was performed to investigate the decomposition-inhibition effect of GSE by measuring the microscope and electroscope observation with passage of time. A total of 30 healthy Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats weighting from 230 gm to 250 gm were used as experimental animals. One group that do not treated by GSE named control group and the other group that treated by 55% GSE named Experimental group. Under ether anesthesia, right kidney was obtained. Put each sample in $37^{\circ}C$ and humidity $80{\pm}5%$ incubator, we obtained each sample after 0 day, 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, 4 days and 5 days. 4 ${\mu}m$ of paraffin sections were obtained, stained H-E stain and observed by use of a microscope. Morphological change in tissue was similar to control 1 day group and experimental 3 days group. Therefore, decomposition-inhibition effect of GSE continued about 2 days and it protected necrosis. According to above results, the author suggest that 55% GSE is an effective decomposition inhibitor until 2 days on $37^{\circ}C$ and humidity $80{\pm}5%$ conditions.
The stabilized $ClO_2$ gas has been used for many years by the food industry as a strong oxidizing and sanitizing agent that has broad and high biocidal effectiveness. Therefore, "stabilized $ClO_2$" gas may be used in fields of disinfectant and sterilization. But, there have been few studies on the decomposition-inhibition effect of stabilized $ClO_2$ gas with passage of time. The main purpose of this study was to examine the decomposition-inhibition effect of stabilized $ClO_2$ gas and the morphological change of kidney by measuring of the light and electron microscope. Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats weighting from 230 gm to 250 gm were used as experimental animals. Under ether anesthesia, the right kidney of rat was obtained. Put each sample in $37^{\circ}C$ and humidity $80{\pm}5%$ incubator, we obtained each sample after 0 day, 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, 4 days and 5 days. We proceeded the observation of light and electron microscope. The results obtained in this study reveal that stabilized $ClO_2$ gas is an effective decomposition inhibitor until 2 days that was conducted at $37^{\circ}C$ and humidity $80{\pm}5%$ conditions.
Hydroxyapatite $(HAp,\;Ca_{10}(PO_4)_6(OH)_2)$/alumina composites were fabricated with the addition of fluorides, such as $MgF_2$ and $CaF_2$. In this study, the effect of fluorides on the inhibition of phase decomposition and the mechanical properties of HAp was investigated. Due to the higher solubility of F ion in HAp structure, $MgF_2$ additive was more effective compared to $CaF_2$ additive in the lowering decomposition temperature of HAp. Therefore, the dissociation tendency of HAp was fully inhibited below $1400^{\circ}C$. The mechanical properties of HAp composites with $MgF_2$ additive showed higher value (flexural strength: $\~170MPa$, Vickers hardness: $\~7\;GPa$, fracture toughness: $\~1.5\;MPam^{1/2}$) compared to $MgF_2-free$ composites. The linear thermal expansion coefficient of HAp composites with $MgF_2$ showed the value of $16.4\times10^{-6}/^{\circ}C\;at\;20\~400^{\circ}C $.
The present study examines firstly, the inhibition of collagen gelation to explore the possible involvement of $Cu^{++}$-catalyzed peroxidation in rheumatoid arthritis and secondly, the effect of sodium salicylate on this peroxidative reaction to provide a possible explanation for its mechanism of anti-inflammatory action. Incubation of collagen obtained from rat skin with $Cu^{++}$ and $H_2O_2$ resulted in the inhibition of gelation in terms of maximal turbidity and lag phase, but either $Cu^{++}$ or $H_2O_2$ alone essentially gave no effect in the collagen gelation. In the presence of sodium salicylate the inhibited gelation of collagen induced by $Cu^{++}$ and $H_2O_2$ was reversed with the dependency of the concentration of sodium salicylate. Moreover, the rate of $H_2O_2$ decomposition by $Cu^{++}$ was accelerated by sodium salicylate and this decomposition of $H_2O_2$ was found to be saturable in terms of concentration of this drugs. Thus it can be expected that $Cu^{++}$ -catalyzed peroxidation attacks collagen resulting in change of structural or functional integrity of collagen, and sodium salicylate may act on this peroxidative process, possibly through the enhancement of catalatic action of $Cu^{++}$. From these results $Cu^{++}$-catalyzed peroxidation can be in part responsible for degradation of joint tissue in rheumatoid arthritis and sodium salicylate may exert its anti-inflammatory action by this peroxidative reaction.

In order to give pulp surfaces anti-bacterial functionality and photo-catalytic deodorant ability, functional pulps was made using a surface modification method with Ag nano-colloidal solution and $TiO_2$ filler. Hygiene paper was made with the specially modified pulp, and anti-bacterial and deodorant tests were carried out. The Ag nano-colloidal solution was coated on the surface of the pulp using the high pressurized gas phase squirt through the spray nozzle mounted on the hybridization system. The surface modified functional pulp was hybridized with the optimum ratio of $TiO_2$(fine particle) to pulp(core particle) under the condition of $6,000{\sim}10,000$ rpm for $3{\sim}7$ minutes in the system. The anti-bacterial functionality of the hygiene paper was confirmed by the halo test in which the formation of the clear zone around the hygiene paper sample was observed. The inhibition growth test using MIC bioscreen C showed the inhibition growth effect of the bacteria as the reaction time was increased. The photo-catalytic effect measurement of the $TiO_2$ for 4 hours of the reaction showed $50{\sim}60%$ of decomposition rate, reaching over 60% for 5 hours of the reaction.
Polyphosphate has been used to prevent decomposition of foods and has been shown to have inhibitory effect on the growth of gram positive bacteria. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of polyphosphate on the growth of Porphyromonas endodontalis, a gram negative endodontopathic bacterium. Porphyromonas endodontalis ATCC 35406 was grown in the presence of polyphosphates with different chain lengths. Inhibitory effect of each polyphosphate which was added at the beginning or during the culture, was determined by measuring the optical density of the bacterial cell at 540nm and by viable cell count. The results from this study were as follows : 1. Polyphosphates were shown the growth inhibition of the Porphyromonas endodontalis. 2. The minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC) of polyphosphate was observed to be 0.04%. 3. Polyphosphates with chain lengths of 25 and 75 demonstrated the greatest inhibitory effect on the growth of Porphyromonas endodontalis. 4. Polyphosphates are bactericidal to Porphyromonas endodontalis, demonstrating the growth inhibition of the bacterium. The overall results suggest that use of polyphosphate may affect the growth of Porphyromonas endodontalis. Further studies will be needed to confirm the effect of, polyphosphate.
Universal characteristics of ginseng replanting problems appeared to be decrease in root yields due to root rot and inhibition of root growth. Incitants of ginseng replanting problems have not been clearly elucidated, however, it appeared to be a complex phenomenon with several pathogenic soil microorganisms and environmental changes in the soil due to decomposition of ginseng debris such as rootlets and shoots. Decomposition of ginseng debris may cause direct or indirect damage to the root. The effect of conventional fungicide on the control of the problems has not been recognized. However, it has been suggested that treatment with soil fumigants may solve the problems. Meanwhile paddy-rice and ginseng rotation system appeared to be the best way of solving the problems so far.
The inhibiotory effect of ethphon on the flowering in Lemna perpusilla 6746 was shown to be related to sucrose concentrations and dilution factors of Hutner's medium. When grown in 1/10-strength Hutner's medium under 10(14) cycles, the plants have been completely inhibited in the floral induction by ethephon (>5ppm) in the presence of sucrose (>20 mM) in the meduim. However, in a less diluted Hutner's medium (1/2-strength), the inhibition of flowering by ethephon was observed to be partially diminished by sucrose at a high concentration (30mM), while a low concentration of sucrose enhanced the inhibitory effect of ethephon in flowering. As inductive dark periodswere extended, the effects of both compounds were partially nullified. Since no significant amount of ethylene possibly released in ethephon decomposition in the medium was detected, the inhibitory effect of ethephon in flowering was postulated to be exerted only through ethylene production within the plants. Plants were incubated in 10 ppm ethephon-containing medium during either dark or light periods, singly or periodically. The most effective single treatment with ethephon was observed during the 4th dark period, when formation of floral stimulus was assumed to be completed beyond a critical level. This postulation can be partially supported by a fact that the plants should be exposed to at least more than four consecutive 10(14) cycles for flowering.

The bioactivity of garlic extract was evaluated, based on the inhibition of soybean lipoxygenase. While the inhibition of lipoxygenase by the chloroform extract (1$_{50}$ value after 10min precirculation, 55mg/$m\ell$) of garlic homogenate shows the property as irreversible inhibitors, the aqueous extract (1$_{50}$ value, 65mg/$m\ell$) appeared to contain mainly reversible inhibitors. In the related study, diallyldislufide and dimethyldisulfide inhibited the enzyme with 1$_{50}$ value of 1.3mM and 18mM, respectively. These disulfides demonstrated both irreversible and reversible patterns of inhibition. In addition, synthetic alliin(allylcysteine sulfoxide) was found to inhibit the enzyme at high concentration (approximately 22%, at 10mM), and its decomposition products showed the irreversible property in the inhibition, in contrast to S-ethyl cysteine sulfoxide which expressed no significant inhibition. Thus, it is suggested that the garlic macerate contains both irreversible and reversible sulfur inhibitors.itors.
Effect of Butachlor(2-chloro-2, 6-diethyl N-(buthoxymethyl) acetanilide), Nitrofen(2,4-dichloro-4-nitrodiphenyl ether), Benthiocarb+Simetryne(s-(4-chlorobenzyl)-N, N-diethylthiocarbamate $7\%$+2-methylthio-4, 6-bis(ethylamino)-s-triazine $1.5\%)$, Propanil (3,4-dichloropropionanilide), and Perfluidone {1. 1. 1-trifluoro-N, N-(2-methyl-4-(phenylsulfonyl) Pheny1) methanesulfon amide} on urea hydrolysis and subsequent nitrification was investigated in a flooded soil incubated at $24\pm1^{\circ}C$ for 9 weeks. 1. Butachlor and Perfluidone at the rate of 1,440 and 1,200g, ai/10a, respectively, slightly inhibited the early stage of urea decomposition, and caused a slight decrease in the production of ammomium, which, however, was recovered readily. 2. Propanil at the rate of 2,800g, ai/10a imhibited the first stage of nitrification, and brought about a slight increase in the ammonium conentration and a decrease in the concentration of nitrite and nitrate. This inhibitive effect was a little more evident at higher concentration of applied nitrogen. The other herbicides caused no inhibition of urea decomposition and subsequent nitrification even at the highest rate of application. 3. pH and Eh of the soil were not significantly affected by the herbicides tested.
